The Little Details Make Ford's Celebratory Model Special
The Ford Bronco was first introduced as a 1966 model in August 1965, and to celebrate, Ford has launched the 60th Anniversary Package with either certain accents or the entire body painted in Wimbledon White, one of the original Bronco's launch colors. It's a stylish look worth inspecting more closely, so without any further ado, let's do that.
1
Based on the Bronco Outer Banks model with the Sasquatch package, the 60th Anniversary model has an imposing stance.
2
Whether opting for a Ruby Red or Wimbledon White body, the spare wheel cover is painted the latter hue, with red paint providing contrast. Note the matte black Ford badge on the left side of the tailgate.
3
The redesign of the grille mesh does a great job of giving the latest Bronco an old-school feel, and the red BRONCO wordmark both adds to this effect and enhances the SUV's visual width. Warm alloy paint almost makes the grille look like chrome, and it's a stunning effect.
4
A new design of 17-inch alloy wheel painted in Gravity Gray adds to the rugged feel of the vehicle, while a Vermillion Red center cap with a bucking Bronco logo adds more of that nostalgic feel to the SUV.
5
Special badges on the front fenders help the special edition stand out more than it otherwise would with just decals.
6
But of course, there are decals too, and in Vermillion Red over Wimbledon White, they're inspired by those on the 60th Anniversary Mustang revealed last year.
7
Customers who prefer an even more retro look can opt for a Ruby Red body with the roof remaining Wimbledon White.
8
Tying in with the exterior decals are embossed Ebony and Alpine leather seats with white stitching.
9
There's also a center console plaque…
10
…a dash wordmark, and the new A-pillar-mounted grab handles, all accented in red. Red also appears on the air vent control switches.
11
Ford says it has hidden a few Easter eggs around the vehicle, so there are probably more logos in places we can't see.
12
Ford says the 60th Anniversary Package will be available to order in October with either the standard 2.3-liter EcoBoost or the optional 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, but pricing has not yet been announced.

Veteran stock-car driver dies after crash in North Carolina
A veteran stock-car driver has tragically died after suffering a medical emergency during a race at a North Carolina short track over the weekend. Robbie Brewer, 53, was competing in a 20-lap Sportsman Series race at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem when his car struck a wall head-on on the quarter-mile (0.40-kilometre) track. His vehicle came to a stop near the start-finish line. Track workers quickly removed Brewer by peeling away the roof of his car, before an ambulance transported him to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist hospital, where he later died, according to the Winston-Salem Journal. Track officials confirmed the news in a statement on Sunday, saying: "We are saddened by the passing of Robbie Brewer after he was transported to an area medical facility following an on-track medical incident. Robbie was a talented and passionate racer, and highly respected competitor among his peers. Our thoughts and prayers are with Robbie's family and friends at this time." The specific details of the medical emergency have not been released. Bowman Gray Stadium is a popular venue, drawing thousands of fans weekly for races across four four divisions. Brewer made his career debut at the oval in 1990 and amassed nearly 260 starts in the Sportsman Division, notably winning the points championship in 2011. Fellow Bowman Gray driver Brad Lewis, whose race shop is close to where Brewer lived, paid tribute to his friend. "He was like a big brother to me even though we were not that far apart in age," Lewis said. "He was a wheelman through and through. I'm not only going to honour him the rest of the season but for as long as we race out there. He'll be missed."

Ford unveils new EV in 'next Model T moment'
Ford is unveiling a new EV that it is calling its 'next Model T moment' - which will be made entirely in the US. The mid-size pickup truck is expected to hit dealerships in 2027 for around $30,000. Ford said the yet-to-be-named truck will be built on a brand-new, American-made battery platform at its Louisville, Kentucky plant. This will be the first EV from any automaker powered mostly by US-sourced materials - a big deal given that critical minerals are typically imported, often from China. GM is also developing similar battery technologies . LFPs are also cheaper to build, improve fire safety, have a longer lifespan, and offer more environmentally-friendly mining practices. Ford invoked the legacy of the Model T - the car that revolutionized American manufacturing with the assembly line - to underscore the importance of the new launch. 'It represents the most radical change on how we design and how we build vehicles at Ford since the Model T,' CEO Jim Farley said. The truck's battery uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, which avoids cobalt and nickel, and promises acceleration that beats the Mustang in a straight line. Ford also claims the pickup will have more passenger space than the 2025 Toyota RAV4 and include its latest highway self-driving tech, Blue Cruise. While the company hasn't revealed a name for the truck, rumors are flying that Ford is bringing back the Ranchero nameplate for the new car. The company reportedly filed patent paperwork to reclaim the name, but declined Daily Mail's request for comment on the name. The popular mini truck sold a half-million units from 1957 through the 1970s. Still, it's a major technological departure from Ford. The company, which has a three-vehicle lineup of EVs, just reported losing $1.3 billion on its all electric fleet. But Ford needed to adjust its parts pipeline. In June, the automaker temporarily shuttered some of its US production plants as Chinese officials throttled critical mineral pipelines to the company. 'There are no guarantees with this project,' Farley added. 'It is a bet, there is risk.' Investors, didn't initially seem convinced: Ford's stock dipped 0.5 percent after the announcement. 'The new techniques sound great and have potential for much higher output of a vehicle program due to faster assembly times,' David Whiston, an analyst who covers Ford at Morningstar, told the Daily Mail. 'Until we can see the product though, it's all words.' Meanwhile, Ford is not alone. Other car companies are expecting to release lower priced EVs to the market next year that could cut into Ford's low-cost EV competitiveness. Slate, a company with the financial backing of Jeff Bezos, is developing a mid-$20,000 electric pickup at its Warsaw, Indiana plant. Rivian, the outdoorsy startup with a $5 billion deal with Volkswagen, is about to launch its lower-cost R2 and R3 vehicles in 2026 . Ford's project helps President Donald Trump deliver on one of his biggest campaign promises: more manufacturing jobs in the United States. Ford said it is making a huge investment to complete the project. The automaker will spend around $2 billion to rework the factory and plans to hire 2,200 full-time workers.

Iconic carmaker recalls ANOTHER 70,000 cars over worrying fault after ‘chaotic' handling of ‘stop-drive' order
ANOTHER 72,000 cars have been recalled over a worrying fault – just weeks after a 'chaotic' stop-drive order rocked the firm. The latest UK recall by Stellantis affects models from big-name brands including Peugeot, Citroen and Vauxhall. 2 It follows 11 reports of vehicles catching fire in France, prompting fears the problem could hit British drivers. The car giant says 28 models from Alfa Romeo, Citroen, DS Automobiles, Fiat, Jeep, Peugeot and Vauxhall are affected. At the centre of the scare is a high-pressure fuel pipe with loose nuts, which can lead to leaks, and, in a worst-case scenario, an engine bay fire. A Stellantis spokesperson said: 'Having customer safety and satisfaction at the core of its values, Stellantis is voluntarily recalling an estimated 72,000 in the UK due to a potential issue with the high pressure fuel pipe. 'Some 2023-2025 Peugeot, Citroen, DS Automobiles, Vauxhall, Alfa Romeo, Jeep and Fiat vehicles may face fuel leakage at the high-pressure pipe between the high-pressure pump and the rail due to loosened nuts. "This can potentially lead to higher fuel leakage consumption and, in a worst-case scenario, to occurrences of fire in the engine.' Owners will be contacted directly and urged to contact their local dealer to book a fix. The repair involves retightening nuts and screws on the high-pressure pipe and rail, a job Stellantis says takes under 30 minutes and is free. Motorists can also check if their vehicle is affected through the brands' websites or by calling customer service lines. The latest recall piles more pressure on Stellantis, following its June stop-drive order for certain Citroën C3 and DS3 models fitted with potentially deadly airbags. That move caused chaos, with dealers under 'immense pressure.' At the time, consumer group Which? criticised the company's handling of the crisis, saying drivers were left stranded and facing huge hire car and taxi bills. Some motorists, including those with sick family members or urgent transport needs, said they had no choice but to keep driving their cars despite the risks. This new issue means thousands more drivers will now face the hassle of arranging repairs—though Stellantis insists the process will be quick and painless. In some cases, drivers were told repairs could take until 2026, leaving many stranded or still using vehicles flagged as unsafe. Dealers were later ordered to stop selling affected used models, and in July owners were told to park up immediately. Safety officials warned the airbags could explode 'in an uncontrolled manner,' posing a serious risk of injury or death. The recall comes amid a wave of other major motoring alerts in recent months, including BMW's warning over potential engine fires, Ford's notice about faulty brake hoses, and Toyota's urgent fix for defective seatbelts—highlighting the growing number of drivers caught up in recall chaos. The Department for Transport says it is monitoring Stellantis's recall process to ensure safety remains the top priority. Your product recall rights Chief consumer reporter James Flanders reveals all you need to know. Product recalls are an important means of protecting consumers from dangerous goods. As a general rule, if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer would usually have lead responsibility for the recall action. But it's often left up to supermarkets to notify customers when products could put them at risk. If you are concerned about the safety of a product you own, always check the manufacturer's website to see if a safety notice has been issued. When it comes to appliances, rather than just food items, the onus is usually on you - the customer - to register the appliance with the manufacturer as if you don't there is no way of contacting you to tell you about a fault. If you become aware that an item you own has been recalled or has any safety noticed issued against it, make sure you follow the instructions given to you by the manufacturer. They should usually provide you with more information and a contact number on its safety notice. In some cases, the manufacturer might ask you to return the item for a full refund or arrange for the faulty product to be collected. You should not be charged for any recall work - such as a repair, replacement or collection of the recalled item 2
