Police said Kavin Prasad and his wife Amaravathi had been married for five years and had a son named Aathiran. Kavin works at a private company in Perundurai. Around 11 p.m. on Thursday, he returned home from work, had dinner with his family, and went to bed. Around 3 a.m., he woke up and found both his wife and son missing. He was shocked to find Amaravathi hanging.
With help from neighbours, she was rushed to the Government Erode Medical College and Hospital in Perundurai, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Upon returning home, Kavin discovered his son Aathiran dead in a water tub. The Vellode police were alerted, and the child's body was sent for post-mortem. Preliminary investigations suggest that Amaravathi killed her son before taking her own life. Police are probing whether the incident was triggered by domestic issues or other reasons, and whether there was any foul play.
