Google's (GOOGL)YouTube to Tackle AI Slop in an Update

Google's (GOOGL) (GOOG) YouTube may finally put an end to the artificial intelligence (AI) 'slop' videos that have spread across the platform. New monetization guidelines will go into effect on July 15 that will end the monetization of 'mass-produced or repetitive' content.

Viewers and creators will note that this doesn't mean AI-generated videos will disappear from the platform completely. Instead, creators that utilize AI in a way that doesn't violate YouTube's policies will continue to be able to monetize their content. The end of monetization is designed to stop bad actors who are abusing the tools to generate money from low-effort productions, not everyone using them.
The finer details of this update are still unknown, as YouTube hasn't released the full notes for it. When those are released, creators will have a much better idea of what AI content is or isn't available for monetization on the platform.
Can YouTube Stop the AI Onslaught?
It has become easier for AI videos to be generated thanks to advancements in those tools, including Google's Gemini AI video generator powered by Veo 3. As more people gain access to this technology, it could become difficult for YouTube to keep up with the influx of AI-generated content.
This presents a problem for creators of original content on YouTube. The video creation process is a long one that requires requires a large dedication of time and effort. With AI content generated as quickly as it is, these creators could get lost in the sea of AI videos. That could result in fewer views, which would discourage these types of creators from making videos.
This is an issue YouTube will have to figure out to ensure a healthy community not overrun by AI.
Is Google Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold?
Turning to Wall Street, the analysts' consensus rating for Google's parent company Alphabet is Strong Buy, based on 29 Buy and nine Hold ratings over the past three months. With that comes an average GOOGL stock price target of $201.85, representing a potential 15.09% upside for the shares.

A $15 Billion Reason to Buy Nvidia Stock Here

What can be said about Nvidia (NVDA) that hasn't already been said? The Jensen Huang-led chip giant is perhaps the most critical company in the world today, due to its significant role in the artificial intelligence (AI) revolution. Almost unanimously lauded by experts and investors for its advanced chips, which are preferred by hyperscalers such as Microsoft (MSFT), Google (GOOGL), and Amazon (AMZN), among others, Nvidia is one of those rare companies that hardly anybody is bearish on. More News from Barchart It's Never 'Happened in the History of Tech to Any Company Before': OpenAI's Sam Altman Says ChatGPT is Growing at an Unprecedented Rate Ditch 'Basic' Nvidia and Buy This 'Unique' Chip Stock Instead Tesla Earnings, Powell Speech and Other Can't Miss Items this Week Tired of missing midday reversals? The FREE Barchart Brief newsletter keeps you in the know. Sign up now! However, a material headwind for the company has been its operations (or recent lack thereof) in China. First impacted adversely by the emergence of AI startup DeepSeek in January, Nvidia was again dealt a blow when President Donald Trump imposed export restrictions for its H20 chips to the world's second-largest economy. But it seems that the company's China woes may finally come to an end, as it was recently reported that Nvidia has been given the green light to resume the sale of its H20 chips to the country. Analysts have cheered this development as they believe that this can add about $15 billion to the company's top line, taking its sales in the region to $20 billion for the full year. This also sent the Nvidia share price soaring, and it is now up 29% on a YTD basis. It also recently became the first company in the world to cross a market capitalization of $4 trillion. Is it too late to enter the Nvidia party? No, and here's why. Nvidia Is the Undisputed Leader of the AI Megatrend One would think that a stock that has rewarded its shareholders with an eye-popping rally of 1,596% over the past five years may not offer further room for upside. Think again. Since my last piece on the company about a month ago, Nvidia's shares are up about 19%. Of course, the bulk of this can be attributed to the China news, but there is more, as the legion of supporters for Nvidia grows every day and with good reason. For instance, when it comes to AI training workloads, Nvidia doesn't just participate, it leads, and by a wide margin. Industry data suggests the company controls more than 80% of that market. A big part of this leadership is due to CUDA, its own proprietary platform. In many ways, CUDA acts like the operating system of the AI compute world, and developers have built around it for years. That kind of ecosystem is difficult to replicate. Finally, what gives Nvidia even more of an edge is its ability to deliver not just components, but entire AI computing environments. Instead of offering a chip here and a piece of software there, Nvidia delivers full systems. This includes CUDA, yes, but also networking solutions like NVLink and Spectrum-X, as well as scalable hardware frameworks such as MGX. On top of that, there are its enterprise-grade tools like DGX Cloud, AI Enterprise, and Workbench, that allow customers to deploy AI without starting from scratch. The result is a vertically integrated package that few can match, and one that solidifies Nvidia's place at the center of the AI computing stack. Financials Not Compromised By Growth Nvidia's unmatched leadership in the semiconductor space, combined with its ongoing focus on scaling and innovation, has not come at the expense of its financial discipline or performance. Rather, the company has continued to deliver a string of strong results that reinforce its position as one of the most consistently high-performing firms in the market today. In the fiscal first quarter of 2026, Nvidia posted revenue of $44.1 billion, reflecting a substantial 69% rise compared to the same period a year ago. This exceptional performance was driven primarily by its data center business, which accounted for $39.1 billion in sales, representing annual growth of 73%, and further cementing its importance as the company's key growth engine. Nvidia's bottom-line performance also stood out, with earnings per share rising to $0.81, surpassing the consensus estimate of $0.75. Looking forward, analysts expect this momentum to carry into the next quarter, with projections indicating earnings of $0.94 per share on revenue of approximately $45.59 billion. Still, not every figure was without concern. The company's gross margin slipped to 61%, significantly lower than the 78.9% recorded in the corresponding period last year. Despite this decline, Nvidia remains the dominant player in the GPU space, which has helped soothe investor concerns regarding margin pressures and intensifying competition. Management reaffirmed its full-year gross margin target, which remains set in the mid-70% range, signaling sustained confidence in the company's long-term model and execution. On the cash flow front, Nvidia continued to display financial strength. Cash generated from operating activities reached $27.4 billion, marking a year-over-year increase of 79.1%. The company concluded the quarter with $53.7 billion in cash and equivalents and no short-term debt obligations, highlighting the firm's robust liquidity position and reinforcing its flexibility to fund capital expenditures, acquisitions, and future strategic initiatives. At the broader level, Nvidia's forward-looking estimates remain well ahead of the industry. Analysts currently expect revenue and earnings growth rates of 59.97% and 64.95%, respectively, which far exceed the sector medians of 7.14% and 11.08%, providing further evidence of the company's continued outperformance and leadership in its field. Analyst Opinions on NVDA Stock Considering all of this, analysts have attributed a rating of 'Strong Buy' for NVDA stock, with a mean target price of $181.09. This indicates upside potential of about 5% from current levels. Out of 44 analysts covering the stock, 39 have a 'Strong Buy' rating, two have a 'Moderate Buy' rating, three have a 'Hold' rating, and one has a 'Strong Sell' rating. Google Maps just lost a useful feature — this will make future road trips more frustrating

Google Maps remains one of the most popular navigation apps on the market, but a recent change might turn users off of it. Last year, Google removed Assistant Driving mode from the bottom of the Google Map app, which allows users to interact with Google Assistant while navigating, a useful way of controlling media playback while on the move. When this mode was removed, users instead had to use the Show media playback control feature, which works with apps like YouTube Music and Spotify, to easily control what they were listening to while driving. However, as first reported by 9to5 Google, the playback control feature appears to have been removed. In past versions, the playback bar would appear at the bottom of the screen while you navigated, allowing you to pause, play and skip songs or podcasts without needing to leave the app. However, as of Google Maps version 25.28, the controls have vanished alongside the toggle to show them. I checked the app on my Galaxy Z Fold 5 with the most up-to-date version of the app and, sure enough, I could not find the toggles, which usually live in the Navigation tab. However, my colleague's Honor 400 Pro, running Google Maps version 25.29, did have the toggles in place. It should be noted that, at time of writing, the feature still appears on the iOS version of Google Maps. As such, we can't say for certain if the removal from Android is an intentional choice or a bug in the app. The advantage of easy Playback Control tools is that they allow users to quickly change songs without needing to divert their focus from the road. If you remove them, it means that a user has to leave Google Maps, find the relevant media app, change the song and then head back to Google Maps. At best, that's a solid ten to twenty seconds where they are not focused on the road as much as they should be. If this removal is an intentional choice, it will certainly be a disappointment and will likely lead some users to head to alternative apps like Waze, which still has media controls in the app. However, Google Maps has released several recent updates that might help to keep users on the app. For instance, Google Maps on iPhones recently rolled out a screenshot recognition feature that can find locations from images you've saved in your camera gallery. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. For the time being, we'll need to wait and see if Google keeps this change, or if this is simply a hiccup that will be addressed. If this is going to be the new normal for the app, let us know what you think and if this will lead to you changing navigation apps. 5 Hacks To Quickly Boost Your Google Traffic With AI In 2025

To avoid being outnumbered or outranked by AI, you've got to use the same playbook that AI follows Your website's Google traffic isn't down because the algorithm hates you. It's down because SEO as you once knew it, is dead. Welcome to SGE, the new face of SEO. This is where you get more website visitors, higher rankings, and more clients. In this article, you'll learn a highly likely reason why your web traffic is down this year, what you can do about it, and how, as a freelancer or content creator you can cooperate with the culprit (AI) to drive visibility and traction again. Why Is My Website Traffic Dropping? If you're a freelance writer, blogger, or content creator, and you notice the site traffic declining, or if you're a freelance marketing professional and you're observing your clients' traffic plummeting, these are the most likely reasons. What Is SGE And How Does It Affect SEO? SGE means Search Generative Experience, as opposed to SEO, which means Search Engine Optimization. It's also known as GEO, Generative Engine Optimization, where you're focused on appearing in AI search results. SGE is when you type something into Google Search, and instead of you scrolling through websites to find the perfect answer, the answer is positioned at the top of the results page in an AI Overview box. Google's AI Overview briefly summarizes main points as it presents your answer, and importantly, provides links to where its information is sourced. Why Traditional SEO Isn't Working Anymore Traditionally, digital marketing professionals use SEO principles and techniques to rank highly on Google and appear at the top of search results, which brings in more web traffic, and consequently, more sales. But if you're a content creator, freelancer, entrepreneur, or freelance copywriter, you'll likely find yourself running into a wall because no matter how hard you try, Google is de-ranking you. How Can I Increase My Google Traffic Using AI? The new Google algorithm updates and AI Overviews feature, as well as the use of AI-powered search engines and ChatGPT's built-in web search feature has many professionals furious. I noticed one LinkedIn member took to the platform to express their rage at their traffic dramatically shrinking for no apparent reason. Reddit users are also sharing their experiences, noting a fall in web traffic for their websites and blogs, due to AI overviews. However, vice president of marketing and start-up advisor Andrea Palten recommends: 'If you want to show up in AI answers, start publishing content that's quotable, useful, and easy to scan.' Palten suggests these hacks for ensuring AI tools like Perplexity and Google's AI Overview feature your site: These make it easy for AI to parse your work. To stand out with your thought leadership online, your post/article/blog can't replicate everyone else's or be generic. Never entirely create content using AI tools like ChatGPT, because it becomes too general, there are no fresh insights, and it sounds mediocre. Instead, try this: This boosts your authority and visibility online as an industry expert and thought leader. One of the best formats is FAQ-style writing. This makes your blog content more likely to be quoted directly in AI-generated responses. AI tools often pull from structured, numbered content. Try titles like: Make sure your name or brand appears somewhere in the post (and ideally in the title image or author box). These posts are easy for AI to summarize, and cite. Don't waste time rambling with a lengthy introduction. To establish thought leadership and get more clients, focus on creating content that is easily ... More scannable Using these AI hacks, you're able to work with AI, and not view it as your enemy. I've personally tried these suggestions and have seen tremendous results in the viewership of my content online, even at a time when overall traffic is dying across multiple platforms. In a nutshell: "Write clearly. Publish often. Make it easy to cite. "That's how you get found," Palten says.
