The 2026 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Ditches the V8 for a 550-HP Inline-Six and AWD

The latest car news, reviews, and features.
Dodge is bringing back one of its most famous monikers with the new 2026 Charger Scat Pack. Available in the four-door Charger and two-door Daytona, the Scat Pack models will offer standard all-wheel drive and a SixPack inline-six engine under the hood. Starting price will be $56,990 including a $1,995 destination charge, and banks will open on Aug. 13.
The 3.0-liter high-output motor dubbed 'Hurricane' in the Ram RHO and Jeep Grand Wagoneer will produce 550 horsepower and 531 lb.-ft. of torque on 91-octane fuel, with Dodge targeting a 3.9-second zero-to-60 time, a 12.2-second quarter-mile, and 177-mph top speed. The inline-six boasts twin 54-mm Garrett GT2054 turbochargers and is tuned to deliver 88% of peak torque at 2,500 rpm and 90% from 3,000 to 6,000 rpm for optimum power delivery. Peak boost huffs at 30 psi.
Helping put that power to the ground is an 880RE TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission with a multi-disc wet clutch system. One of the more peculiar aspects of the new Scat Pack is that they'll all be all-wheel drive, opening a new chapter for muscle cars as a whole—and making them a bit of an oddity for long-time purists. Gone are the days of V8-powered American muscle; now we have inline sixes and all-wheel drive. Welcome to 2025.
That said, the drivetrain can send 100% of the power to the rear tires at the push of a button, and even features a line-lock function to facilitate drag racing launches and, of course, burnouts. Likewise, the computer can decide when to disengage the front axle in order to improve fuel economy.
A performance-tuned active exhaust system can electronically operate valves to tailor the exhaust sound, volume, and overall character to the driving mode selected. Active noise cancellation is along for the ride and is 'engineered to minimize unwanted sound frequencies in the cabin while allowing in visceral external exhaust notes.' So, in other words, the Scat Pack will blast its exhaust note to the outside world without annoying those inside the cabin.
There will be five distinct and self-explanatory driving modes, including Eco Mode (lol), Wet/Snow mode, Sport Mode, Comfort Mode, and Custom Mode.

Handling and braking power are also upgraded for the Scat Pack, with standard front 15-inch and rear 14-inch ventilated discs, and Brembo six-piston floating calipers. The suspension has also been tweaked to focus on handling, with a multi-link setup with forged aluminum links up front, and a fully independent four-link in the rear.
It wouldn't be a Scat Pack without aggro styling. Dodge gave its new variant a widebody exterior design with a unique hood, front fascia/grille, and exhaust, as well as distinctive white LED lighting and red 'ring of fire' LED rear taillamps. Eight colors will be available when models begin arriving at dealerships in the second half of the year: Green Machine, After Dark, Bludicrous, Diamond Black, Peel Out, Redeye, Triple Nickel, and White Knuckle.
Lastly, a new-to-the-lineup Dodge Charger R/T with 420 hp will arrive at dealerships in the first half of 2026 with a starting price of $51,990, not including destination.

Trump administration invalidates California's emissions reduction agreement with truck manufacturers

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has declared that an emissions agreement between California and four major truck makers is 'unenforceable' — paving the way for noncompliance with the Golden State's pollution rules, which are stricter than federal standards. The FTC made this determination as the agency closed an investigation into whether several truck and engine manufacturers violated antitrust laws by engaging in a voluntary ' Clean Truck Partnership ' with the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Truck manufacturers, in the July 2023 partnership, agreed to abide by California's emissions standards in exchange for certain concessions. Among those standards is the Advanced Clean Trucks rule, which requires 7.5 percent of heavy-duty vehicles to be emissions-free by 2035. The Omnibus Regulation, meanwhile, has sought to slash nitrogen oxide emissions by 90 percent and update engine testing protocols. The FTC said on Monday that it was closing the antitrust investigation after receiving commitments from four truck manufacturers — Daimler Truck, International Motors, PACCAR and Volvo Group — that they would abandon the Clean Truck Partnership. Specifically, the commitments agreed that 'the Clean Truck Partnership is unenforceable and that none of the manufacturers has ever or will ever attempt to enforce the Clean Truck Partnership's terms against another manufacturer,' according to the FTC. 'CARB's regulatory overreach posed a major threat to American trucking and, in our view, presented serious antitrust concerns,' Taylor Hoogendoorn, deputy director of the FTC's Bureau of Competition, said in a statement. 'The Bureau is pleased that the leading heavy-duty truck manufacturers agreed to a course correction,' Hoogendoorn continued, adding that the reversal would put the partnership 'squarely in the rearview mirror and prevent repeats of CARB's troubling regulatory gambit.' The FTC's announcement came a day after the same four truck makers filed a lawsuit against California regulators, arguing that the Golden State lacks the authority to enforce its heavy-duty vehicle emissions rules. The complaint alleges that the federal government had rendered the standards 'unlawful' in June. At the time, President Trump signed off on three congressional resolutions that upended the rules, which previously received the approval of the Biden administration. In closing the antitrust investigation, an FTC statement referred to past concerns causing the agency to launch the case. Criticizing the structure of the Clean Truck Partnership, the FTC expressed concern that the agreement 'forced manufacturers to produce 'zero emissions' engines' even if CARB rules were later overturned. The agency also expressed concern that 'the agreement did not foreclose one truck manufacturer from enforcing its restrictions against a competing truck manufacturer.'

Ansys collaborates with Nvidia to embed Omniverse in simulation solutions

Ansys, a unit of Synopsys, has entered into an agreement with Nvidia to incorporate Nvidia Omniverse technology into its autonomous vehicle simulation solutions. This integration will commence with Ansys' computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and autonomous vehicle solutions, providing customers with direct access to Omniverse's technologies as well as libraries. The collaboration aims to enhance the understanding of vehicle aerodynamics, improve autonomous vehicle safety, and contribute to the development of 6G connectivity. The technology of Ansys leverages Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD) for integration with Omniverse, facilitating accessible workflows across various simulation applications. The agreement also makes sure that diverse computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools can work together, providing a unified workflow essential for large-scale CFD applications. Engineers will benefit from the ability to visualise fluid dynamics in realistic digital environments, which aids in the intuitive analysis of complex data and accelerates the design optimisation process. Furthermore, the integration provides 'high-fidelity outputs' that streamline the development, training, testing, and validation of autonomous systems, enhancing their reliability and safety. Additionally, PyAnsys, a suite of Python packages, offers users the flexibility to customise and automate simulations within their applications built on Nvidia Omniverse, noted Ansys. In March 2025, Magna, a mobility technology company, announced a partnership with Nvidia to create AI-driven solutions for the next generation of software-defined vehicles, focusing on intelligence and autonomy. "Ansys collaborates with Nvidia to embed Omniverse in simulation solutions" was originally created and published by Just Auto, a GlobalData owned brand. This Lamborghini Diablo V-12 Restomod Was Made for the Track

Remember the Eccentrica V-12? The stunning Lamborghini Diablo restomod that debuted last year in Monterey is back for Car Week 2025—this time in an even more extreme form. Meet the Eccentrica Pacchetto Titano. Developed specifically for the track, the Titano trim takes Eccentrica's V-12 restomod to a new level of performance and precision. Designed for enthusiasts who plan to use the car as a weekend track toy, it features a number of performance-focused upgrades. Photo by: Eccentrica To reduce weight, Eccentrica fitted the car with partially exposed carbon fiber bodywork. A fixed rear wing and redesigned front splitters enhance downforce, while standard Pirelli Trofeo R tires and a Capristo exhaust system round out the aggressive track-ready package. The Eccentrica Titano features a stiffer suspension setup, managed by revised software for sharper handling. The engine electronics have been recalibrated for quicker throttle response, while the Brembo braking system now benefits from additional cooling ducts. Forged alloy wheels—staggered at 19 inches up front and 20 inches at the rear—are fitted with special carbon inserts to help reduce unsprung mass. One thing that remains unchanged is the heart of the car: A 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V-12, still tuned to deliver 542 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a custom six-speed manual transmission. Photo by: Eccentrica Photo by: Eccentrica Photo by: Eccentrica In addition to the V-12 Titano, Eccentrica will debut two bespoke versions of its Diablo restomod at The Quail. The first, called the Rose Phoenix, features a three-layer Rose Gold paint finish paired with a "coconut" Alcantara interior and Nubuck leather accents. The second, dubbed the Green Dragon, sports a more aggressive design in pastel green paint, complete with carbon fiber details and matching interior finishes. Eccentrica hasn't disclosed how much the Titano trim adds to the cost of the standard Diablo restomod, but it's expected to significantly exceed the base price of €1.2 million (around $1.4 million).
