Inzaghi coached Inter to the Serie A title last year, and was also in charge when the Nerazzurri lost the 2023 Champions League title to Manchester City.
He was at Inter for exactly four years and had one more season remaining on his contract.
It's unclear now who will coach Inter at the Club World Cup in the United States starting June 14. Inter opens against Monterrey on June 17 — a day before Al-Hilal opens against Real Madrid.
There has been speculation that Inter would go after Cesc Fabregas, who coached Como to a 10th-place finish in Serie A.
Inter finished second in the Italian league last month, one point behind champion Napoli.
Inter was in the running for a treble until it lost to city rival AC Milan in the Italian Cup semifinals in April. Having also been beaten by Milan in the Italian Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia in January, the Nerazzurri didn't win a trophy this season.
The coaching change at Inter is just one of many managerial moves among the top Italian teams this offseason, with Milan, Roma, Atalanta and others making changes.

ROME (AP) — At the last two Olympics, the men's high jump produced a tie — requiring a big decision. In Tokyo four years ago, Gianmarco Tamberi and Mutaz Barshim agreed to share the gold. In Paris last year, Hamish Kerr and Shelby McEwen agreed to a jump-off that Kerr finally won after an interminable series of misses. Nearly a year later, Kerr is suggesting that sharing should be eliminated from the rule book. 'In the future, does that need to be an option?' Kerr, who is from New Zealand, told The Associated Press on Thursday as he prepared to compete at Rome's Diamond League meeting. 'It's probably not something that I would ever take,' Kerr said of accepting a tie. 'I think it's great that we have people jumping off for medals.' Tamberi, unsurprisingly, does not agree. The Italian noted how Kerr and McEwen combined for 11 straight misses — so many that there wasn't enough room on the scoreboard for all the Xs — in regulation and the jump-off. And that the bar was lowered twice during the jump-off before Kerr finally broke the streak of failures when he got over 2.34 meters (7 feet, 8 inches) to win. 'It becomes an endurance competition and isn't about who can jump the highest anymore,' Tamberi said when asked about Kerr's comments. 'I think people appreciated the moment of sportsmanship that we created in Tokyo. 'Or maybe they should try to find a different way to determine the winner in terms of who jumps the highest,' Tamberi added. 'But jump-offs are really strange, because it's about who has more energy and who can last longer. It's like turning the 100 meters into the 10,000.' The shared gold between Tamberi and Barshim strengthened an existing friendship and Kerr said he feels an enduring bond with his American opponent McEwen, too. 'Obviously we could have shared and we could have sort of walked away from it without having such an awesome experience and a really kind of engaging moment for the crowd and for everyone back home,' Kerr said. 'But we both decided to jump and that was really special. We've got a special bond now.' Tamberi is back Kerr and McEwen have continued their rivalry this season with the American winning two of their three meetings. But Tamberi is making his season debut in Rome and looking to spice things up, while McEwen is not entered for the Golden Gala. Both the 28-year-old Kerr and the 33-year-old Tamberi plan to continue competing through the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. First up, though, is this season's world championships in Tokyo in September. Calendar change World Athletics has made a calendar change so that starting this year the track season ends with the worlds. That means that the Diamond League finals in Zurich will be held at the end of August. 'It's a good move, because athletes need to prepare for the worlds and there won't be a post-worlds or post-Olympics where athletes often compete only to salute their fans or for economic reasons,' said Tamberi, whose wife is expecting the couple's first child in August. ___ AP sports:

French Open: No. 1 Sinner plays Djokovic and defending champ Alcaraz faces Musetti in semis
PARIS (AP) — It is unusual to think of Novak Djokovic as not being the favorite to win a French Open semifinal, given that his greatest clay-court rival Rafael Nadal has retired. After all, Djokovic has won three titles at Roland-Garros among his men's record 24 Grand Slams. He also owns prestigious winning head-to-head records against 22-time major winner Nadal (31-29) and 20-time major champion Roger Federer (27-23). Yet, when Djokovic faces Jannik Sinner on Friday for a place in Sunday's final, against defending champion Carlos Alcaraz of Spain or No. 8-seeded Lorenzo Musetti, the favorite could be Sinner. Top-ranked Sinner has beaten Djokovic in their past three meetings and four of the past five, including in the 2024 Australian Open semifinals. The Italian is 4-4 against him and 15 years younger than Djokovic, who is 38. Given this, and Djokovic's early losses in Doha, Indian Wells, Monte Carlo and Madrid, his title chances were subdued before the French Open. 'He's a bit underrated,' 2024 French Open runner-up Alexander Zverev said after losing to Djokovic in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. 'A lot of people count him out already. But this year he's had wins over Carlos (Alcaraz) at the Australian Open, he has had a win over me at the French Open. Forget the age.' Losing the match, including a 41-stroke exchange, convinced Zverev that Djokovic was far from a spent force. Just before the French Open, Djokovic won his 100th career title. 'The way I won the tournament definitely helped me mentally approach Roland-Garros in a better way,' Djokovic said. 'But these kind of matchups and challenges extract the best out of me. Playing best of five, late stages of a Grand Slam against No. 1 in the world, you can't get more motivated than that for me at this age.' Sinner thinks Djokovic presents the same threat as always. 'He has shown in the last period that he is back to the level,' Sinner said. 'He's such an experienced player, 24 Grand Slams. I think that says everything.' What is Musetti's record against Alcaraz? This will be their seventh meeting in what could blossom into a big rivalry. The 23-year-old Musetti beat Alcaraz on clay in the 2022 Hamburg final, but has lost five straight matches to him since then, including three on clay. The 22-year-old Alcaraz is chasing a second French Open title and fifth major overall. Alcaraz beat Musetti twice on clay this season — in the Italian Open semifinals and the Monte Carlo Masters final. 'He just joined a really short (list) that made at the least the semifinals of the big events in the clay season,' Alcaraz said. 'It's going to be great for the people to watch.' Djokovic needed four sets in the quarterfinals to reach the semifinals, as did Musetti against Frances Tiafore. But Alcaraz, the No. 2 seed, and Sinner saved valuable energy with straight-sets wins. Liverpool rejects Barcelona approach for Luis Diaz, AP source says
Liverpool has rejected an approach from Barcelona for forward Luis Diaz, a person with knowledge of the situation told the Associated Press. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the information has not been made public. Spanish champion Barcelona is looking to strengthen, and Diaz and Manchester United's Marcus Rashford were on a list of reported targets. It is not known how much Barcelona was prepared to pay for Colombia international Diaz, but Liverpool informed the Catalan club he was not for sale, the person said. The 28-year-old Diaz scored 17 goals in Liverpool's Premier League title-winning campaign last season. He scored a hat trick against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League and was a key figure in attack for manager Arne Slot.
