Dortmund's Guirassy scores four in 6-0 rout over Union Berlin

Reuters22-02-2025

DORTMUND, Germany Feb 22 (Reuters) - Serhou Guirassy scored four goals to lead Borussia Dortmund to a 6-0 demolition of Union Berlin in the Bundesliga on Saturday and earn their first league win under new coach Niko Kovac.
The Guinea international scored three of his goals in an eight-minute span late in the second half to take his league tally to 13 goals, along with another 10 in the Champions League where Dortmund will face Lille in the Round of 16 next month.
The hosts, who had lost their two previous league games under Kovac, opened their account when former Union player Julian Ryerson saw his shot deflected in for an own goal by Diogo Leite in the 25th minute.
Dortmund hit the crossbar with a Maximilian Beier header four minutes later but did everything right in the 40th when Guirassy headed in a Pascal Gross cross.
The Guinea international then added his second in the 75th minute from close range before pushing the ball over the line after good work from Beier five minutes later to complete his hat-trick.
With the Union defence collapsing completely, he bagged a fourth goal when he headed in another Gross cross in the 83rd before Beier sealed their win in the 90th.
Dortmund, who earned only their second win in their last eight matches moved into 10th place on 32 points.

'I'll beat the S*** out of you!': Furious Inter Milan star Francesco Acerbi threatens fan in feisty exchange after being taunted over Champions League final defeat by PSG

Inter Milan defender Francesco Acerbi threatened a fan in a PSG shirt after being taunted about last month's Champions League final. The Serie A side were thrashed 5-0 by Luis Enrique's men in last month's final - the heaviest defeat ever recorded in the final of the competition. During the latter stages of the match, Acerbi was left sprawling after some dazzling footwork by Bradley Barcola - and a fan in Seattle reminded him of the moment. On a video that went viral on social media, the visibly annoyed Italian international sought the help of a translator during a meet-and-greet with fans. The translator told the fan in English on Thursday: 'You must be serious with him.' Seconds later, Acerbi stepped in to say in Italian: 'I´m serious. Don't make fun of me - I don´t like it. ... I´m crazy, I´ll beat the s*** out of you.' 📲🚨 Francesco Acerbi got into a verbal altercation with a PSG fan. 'Don't say 'Acerbi-Barcola', I don't like to be made a fool of. I am crazy and I'll beat the hell out of you.' — Inter Xtra (@Inter_Xtra) June 20, 2025 Acerbi then quickly moved on, posing for photos with other fans. The latest controversy surrounding the 37-year-old comes just weeks after he turned down a call-up for Italy's World Cup qualifiers - accusing Luciano Spalletti, who was later sacked, of disrespecting him. Acerbi posted on social media: 'It's not a decision I have taken lightly. However, I believe that in light of recent events the conditions aren't there today for me to go forward with serenity. I demand respect. If that respect is lacking from those who should lead the group, I prefer to step aside. 'I won't stay where I'm no longer truly wanted and it's clear I'm not part of the coach's project.' Acerbi's Inter will return to action against Japanese side Urawa Reds in their second Club World Cup match on Saturday.

Jadon Sancho decides transfer 'priority' as Man Utd receive new approach

Jadon Sancho is prioritising a move to Napoli after Manchester United received a direct approach from Juventus, according to reports in Italy. Sancho spent last season on loan at Chelsea but Enzo Maresca's side opted not to take up their £25 million permanent option to sign the winger and have paid a £5m penalty fee to send him back to United. Earlier this week it was revealed that Napoli have made an approach to sign Sancho and have been given the green light by the 25-year-old, however, the Serie A champions consider United's €25m (£21.3m) transfer fee high. However, Napoli also face competition from Juventus who have also held talks with United this week over a deal for Sancho. According to Sky Sport Italy, Sancho's preference would be to join Napoli as Antonio Conte's side made their interest known before other competing sides. Juventus had held talks to sign Sancho last summer but were unable to reach an agreement with United. More Trending Sancho still has a year remaining on his contract with United which is worth £300,000 a week, which is another obstacle for both Napoli and Juventus. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund have all but ruled out a return for Sancho after he was linked with a move back to the Bundesliga. 'Of course, contact with Jadon is always there, in some way, because we have a very long history,' Dortmund's sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, told Ruhr Nachrichten last week. 'But that's not an issue for us right now. We have other priorities at the moment, and that's why the Sancho issue may have been more talked about in the media than internally.'
