In one of the most dramatic finishes in Pakistan Super League history, Zimbabwe's
Sikandar Raza
flew in from England and arrived at the Gaddafi Stadium just 10 minutes before the toss — only to hit the winning runs and crown Lahore Qalandars as PSL 2025 champions.
The 39-year-old all-rounder was greeted by raucous cheers as he smashed an unbeaten 22 off 7 balls, sealing a six-wicket victory over Quetta Gladiators with a boundary off the penultimate delivery.

Raza, who had played a Test match for Zimbabwe in Nottingham less than 24 hours earlier, made an unforgettable impact despite the whirlwind journey that included stops in Birmingham, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and finally Lahore.
Who's that IPL player?
"Had dinner in Birmingham, breakfast in Dubai, lunch in Abu Dhabi and dinner in Pakistan. I'm just blessed to live this life," said Raza after being carried off the field by his ecstatic teammates.

Incredible and inspiring
Just luck
A sign of great skill

Chasing 202 to win, Lahore Qalandars completed the highest successful chase in a PSL final, finishing on 204/4 in 19.5 overs. Sri Lankan batter
Kusal Perera
starred with a blistering 62* off 31 balls, while Mohammad Naeem (46) and Abdullah Shafique (41) set the foundation.
Quetta had earlier posted 201/9, thanks largely to a brilliant 76 by young Hasan Nawaz and a late assault by Faheem Ashraf, who hammered 23 runs off the final over. However,
Shaheen Afridi
(3-24) and Haris Rauf (2-41) kept Quetta in check at the death.
More Than a Team: The Rise of CSK & the Whistle Podu Army
With this win, Lahore clinched their third PSL title — adding to their 2022 and 2023 triumphs — and joined Islamabad United as the most successful teams in PSL history.
In a season already marked by a mid-tournament suspension due to political tensions, Raza's last-minute arrival and heroics provided the perfect Hollywood-style finish.

Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis exhibition bout confirmed – What we know so far
Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis Jake Paul is set to enter the ring for what could be the toughest test of his boxing journey yet. According to Ring Magazine's Mike Coppinger, Paul will face reigning WBA lightweight champion Gervonta 'Tank' Davis in an exhibition bout scheduled for November 15 at Atlanta's State Farm Arena, streamed live on Netflix. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'Jake Paul will face Gervonta Davis on Nov. 15 at Atlanta's State Farm Arena in an exhibition on Netflix, sources confirm to @ringmagazine,' Coppinger posted on X. He added that talks for Paul to face Anthony Joshua fell through due to broadcast network issues. Poll Who do you think will win the exhibition bout between Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis? Jake Paul Gervonta Davis It's too close to call The weight limit for the contest remains undecided. Paul last competed at 200 pounds, while Davis holds his world title at 135 pounds. Coppinger noted that similar conditions might apply as when Floyd Mayweather fought Logan Paul in 2021: 'When Floyd Mayweather faced Jake's brother Logan in an exhibition, Mayweather couldn't weigh more than 160 while Logan was capped at 190. Would expect some similar exhibition rules for weigh in here.' For Davis, who boasts a 30-0-1 professional record with 28 knockouts, this marks a departure from his usual competition. The 30-year-old fought to a draw with Lamont Roach Jr. in March after scoring emphatic stoppages over Ryan Garcia and Frank Martin. Facing Paul is a lucrative opportunity, though it is unlikely to enhance his legacy, especially as questions swirl about potential bouts against Shakur Stevenson or a Roach rematch. Paul, meanwhile, steps up from opponents like Julio César Chávez Jr. and ex-MMA fighters but may still face skepticism. A win over Davis in an exhibition would not impact his record, and critics will point to his size advantage. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!

Asia Cup squad: 'His case needs to be discussed' - Ex-India cricketer slams Harshit Rana's selection
NEW DELHI: The announcement of India's Asia Cup squad on Tuesday has ignited intense debate, with Ajit Agarkar and his panel facing scrutiny over the omission of proven performers like Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now One of the most polarising decisions has been the inclusion of Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Harshit Rana. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. Former India opener Aakash Chopra has questioned the logic behind Rana's selection, arguing that his record does not justify a place in the 15-member squad. Poll Do you agree with the inclusion of Harshit Rana in the Asia Cup squad? Yes, he deserves a spot No, there are better options 'Harshit Rana's case is very interesting. His case needs to be discussed because he came as a concussion replacement for Shivam Dube once, picked up three wickets as well, and became the Player of the Match, which was brilliant, but what about before and after that?' Chopra asked on his YouTube channel. Rana's IPL 2025 season was underwhelming, with 15 wickets at an economy rate of 10.18. Beyond that single standout international performance against England, Chopra felt the numbers painted a less convincing picture. India Asia Cup squad: Why Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill are biggest talking points 'The last IPL was extremely ordinary. His performances have not been very good. His numbers are not flattering. It doesn't seem like his numbers are strong enough to deserve a place in the side,' he said. Chopra also downplayed Rana's chances of featuring prominently in the tournament. 'The truth is also that he won't get to play all matches. In fact, he might get to play even one match when Bumrah isn't available. If he isn't getting a chance to play, you say that whoever is sitting out doesn't make a difference.' The former batter argued that Krishna, who won the IPL 2025 Purple Cap, and Siraj, with his recent form in England, were more deserving candidates. 'You will find that Prasidh Krishna should have got a chance, or you could have thought about rewarding Mohammed Siraj, but the team has once again gone towards Harshit,' he concluded.

When Pakistan pulled out: Asia Cup's turbulent past back in spotlight before UAE 2025
(File Photo) The 2025 Asia Cup will be played in the United Arab Emirates from September 9 to 28, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) confirmed earlier this month, ending weeks of speculation over India's participation. The uncertainty had stemmed from the worsening political climate between India and Pakistan, with growing calls for boycotts of bilateral fixtures at global sporting events. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! India also announced their 15-member squad this week, with Pakistan doing so a few days earlier. Yet, the shadow of geopolitics — which has repeatedly intersected with the Asia Cup — continues to loom large. When Pakistan pulled out of Asia Cup in India While India's absence from the 1986 edition in Sri Lanka remained the only time the Men in Blue skipped the tournament, Pakistan too had walked away from the continental event. The fourth Asia Cup, hosted by India in 1990–91, went ahead without Pakistan after the team pulled out citing strained political relations with New Delhi. It was a major setback at the time, not just for the tournament but for Asian cricket unity. The pull-out meant the event lost one of its most intense rivalries — India vs Pakistan. India retained the trophy that year, defeating Sri Lanka in the final, but the absence of Pakistan left a glaring void. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Discover luxury living near the sea by Hiranandani Communities Hiranandani Exclusive Learn More Undo The tensions persisted, and the scheduled 1993 Asia Cup was cancelled altogether due to continuing hostilities between the two nations. Only in 1995 did the competition resume, hosted in Sharjah, UAE. India's own withdrawal in 1986 Pakistan's pull-out was not without precedent. In 1986, India themselves withdrew from the second edition, hosted by Sri Lanka. The decision was prompted by security concerns amid the island nation's escalating civil war with the LTTE, with the Indian government directing the BCCI to stay away. The absence reduced the tournament to just three teams — Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh — with the hosts emerging victorious. That political decision remains the only time India have missed the Asia Cup. 2025 edition at a neutral venue Nearly four decades later, the Asia Cup continues to operate in the shadows of regional politics. The 2025 edition, though officially hosted by India, will take place in the UAE as part of a neutral-venue arrangement with the Pakistan Cricket Board. Under the deal, Indo-Pak fixtures in the next three years will be staged at third-party venues to avoid direct hosting disputes. This year's event will be played in the T20I format, featuring eight teams: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong. India have been grouped with Pakistan, UAE, and Oman in Group A, while Group B comprises Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong. Dubai will host 11 matches, including India's opener against UAE on September 10 and the much-anticipated clash with Pakistan on September 14. Abu Dhabi will stage eight matches, including India's final group encounter against Oman on September 19. The Super Four stage runs from September 20 to 26, with the final scheduled for September 28 in Dubai. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!
