5-star Oregon football target predicted to land with Big 12 school
The Oregon Ducks are in the thick of it for 5-star quarterback Ryder Lyons, who announced on Wednesday night that he is set to make his commitment next week on Tuesday, June 24. At the moment, both Oregon and the BYU Cougars are thought to be the two leading candidates to land a commitment from the No. 13 player and No. 4 QB in the 2026 cycle.
Last weekend, Lyons took his official visit to Oregon, and he is headed to BYU this week for his official visit with the Cougars.
On Tuesday morning, a prediction came down from the 247Sports recruiting staff for Lyons to end up with BYU in the long run.
While the prediction only has a confidence level of 5, it is still something that should be taken into account, especially considering Lyons' ties with the Mormon community and his plan to take an LDS mission out of high school, delaying his freshman season until 2027.
While Oregon is seen as a strong contender to land Lyons, based on their track record of developing QBs, the offensive system, and his relationship with offensive coordinator Will Stein, BYU is a huge threat here. Several reports show that the Cougars have offered a massive NIL deal for Lyons. Ultimately, it's likely going to come down to which matters more for Lyons: a huge lump sum of money or the opportunity to play for and be developed by the Ducks.
We will find out in a matter of days, but this one appears to be trending toward BYU at the moment.

Ohio State football misses out on 4-star defensive end for the 2026 class
Ohio State football misses out on 4-star defensive end for the 2026 class It was a mixed bag for Ohio State football recruiting on Thursday. The Buckeyes landed 4-star linebacker Cincere Johnson out of Cleveland Glenville, but then got some sour news with losing out on 4-star defensive end Luke Wafle to the USC Trojans. It was a bit of an about-turn for Wafle. As early as Wednesday evening, it looked as though the Buckeyes were favored to land the priority edge rusher, but USC reportedly made a late push after an official visit and upped the ante with increased NIL money. If you believe the reports from Steve Wiltfong of On3 (subscription required), OSU then came to the table with more money, but the Trojans again came to the table with the money to land his services. Out of Princeton, New Jersey, Wafle is ranked as the No. 6 edge rusher and 55th overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He was one of Ohio State's priority targets to cap off the 2026 class, but the Buckeyes will now have to turn their attention elsewhere. After the news, USC holds onto its firm grip on the No. 1 ranked class in the country according to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, thanks in large part to a whopping 30 guys who have given their verbal pledge. The Buckeyes remain ranked as the No. 3 class in the 2026 cycle with their 16 total commitments to date. This is just another example of how NIL has changed how difficult it is to predict big-time college football recruiting these days. All indications point to Wafle wanting to be a Buckeye, but the money seemed to change things. BTN analyst says prepare for a 'different', more versatile Coen Carr this upcoming season
BTN analyst says prepare for a 'different', more versatile Coen Carr this upcoming season "We will see a different Coen Carr this season. It could get scary if that ball handling has improved like his jumper." Carson Cooper told me Monday that we will see a different Coen Carr this season. It could get scary if that ball handling has improved like his jumper. 🫣🤯 — Rapheal Davis (@RaphealDavis3) June 19, 2025 One Big Ten hoops analyst has reportedly heard it's time to prepare for a "different" Coen Carr this upcoming season. If you follow Michigan State basketball (or really college basketball as a whole), you know that Carr can throw down some of the best dunks out there and has pure incredible unmatched athletic ability. However, the focus to improve his shooting and ball handling has apparently been on display this offseason, with Rapheal Davis of the Big Ten Network recently saying he's heard positive things around this part of his game. According to Davis, he said he has recently heard from Carr's Spartan teammate Carson Cooper "that we will see a different Coen Carr this season." Davis went on to add that "it could get scary if that ball handling has improved like (Carr's) jumper." These statements from Davis were posted on social media platform X after quote tweeting a highlight post of Carr during what appears to be offseason workouts. You can see the full post from Davis and the accompanying highlights below: Carr showed significant improvements in his all-around game this past season, jumping from 3.1 points to 8.1 points and 1.8 rebounds to 3.6 rebounds per game from his freshman to his sophomore season. It was clear early in the season that Carr was no longer just a highlight-generator and more of a complete basketball player at the Big Ten level. Carr is expected to be one of the top players on the Spartans' squad next year, and his need to meet those expectations only grew this week with the news of Kaleb Glenn's injury. If Carr can truly take the next step with his ball handling and outside shooting, then he will be an All-Big Ten selection next year. I'm very confident in that statement, and hearing this kind of feedback about Carr's growth excites me for what's to come this upcoming season. Steelers trade target Jalen Ramsey may have just followed Pittsburgh players on IG
Steelers trade target Jalen Ramsey may have just followed Pittsburgh players on IG The Jalen Ramsey-to-Pittsburgh rumors are red hot after his supposed following of several big-name Steelers players on social media. The speculation storm took off on Thursday, as several fans and social media pages brought Ramsey's recent following list to light — with the four-time All-Pro cornerback seemingly having just followed Cam Heyward on Instagram. Steelers fans should take the claims with a grain of salt, as it's difficult to pinpoint whether or not Ramsey had already followed him before the trade rumors began — and even if he did just follow him, it's hardly an official confirmation of his arrival in Pittsburgh. Back in April, insider Ian Rapoport confirmed the Dolphins and Ramsey mutually agreed to seek a trade, with the Rams and Steelers serving as the two most likely landing spots — HC Sean McVay stated that 'obstacles' were preventing Los Angeles from making a move. From Ramsey's UCLA training post to his supposed following of Steelers players, the intriguing developments in this potential trade scenario have kept the buzz alive this offseason.
