Eurovision fans want 'justice' for Switzerland after semi-finals chaos
Eurovision Song Contest 2025 fans were left speechless after Switzerland's act Zoë Më's semi-final performance descended into chaos.
Last night, 10 countries competed for a spot in the Grand Final, with Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, San Marino, and Portugal qualifying.
However, dreams of Eurovision glory were ended for Azerbaijan, Belgium, Cyprus, Croatia, and Slovenia.
Fans, though, were distracted by the 'messy' camerawork as Zoë, 24, took to the stage with song Voyage.
During the performance, the broadcast appeared to glitch and showed a dark image, while the camera also struggled to remain focused on Zoë.
Afterwards, BBC host Rylan Clark commented on the technical issues, saying: 'We should say there as well, I think there was a couple of little tech problems with that one single-shot camera.'
On X, viewers said they felt 'sorry' for Zoë and demanded 'justice', while others joked host country Switzerland was attempting to 'sabotage' their own act.
Among them was @JarydHeadley, who said: 'Switzerland sabotaging their own entry so they don't have to host again OMFG. #eurovision.'
@escainsanity shared: 'Did the broadcast just mess up for Switzerland??? #Eurovision2025 #Eurovision #eurovisiongr.'
Echoing their sentiment, @Ace109610 wrote: 'Feel sorry for Switzerland Production team need to do better #Eurovision2025 #Eurovision.'

@eire_thug added: 'Despite the great performances, tonight was quite a mess with technical errors. Between broken LED cells, faulty lighting beams and camera glitches it really shouldn't be happening during the live shows. Let's hope they won't be a common for the last 2…'
@bosdovja92 also commented: 'If there's any justice, Switzerland will pull a double and win this year!!'
However, the quality of the broadcast will not affect Zoë's place in the Grand Final. As Swiss act Nemo won Eurovision last year, she has automatically qualified, alongside the 'Big Five' countries. More Trending
Also last night, while the votes were being counted, Canadian singer and former Swiss winner Celine Dion delivered a pre-recorded video saying Switzerland has 'always held a special place in my heart' as she spoke in French and English.
She also said she would want 'nothing more but to be with you' in Basel as discussions continue with the organisers for her to make a stage comeback on Saturday during the final amid her health issues.
Switzerland had not triumphed until Nemo with The Code at Malmo 2024 after Dion won in Dublin 1988 with Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi, which was performed this evening in St Jakobshalle arena by previous Eurovision stars including Silvester Belt and Iolanda.

Her images, taken with the help of a mirror in a white-walled dressing room, saw her accessorise with a pair of sunglasses and pendant necklace. Yet after hitting upload, the 2013 BBC show star and CBB contestant was hit with a slew of vile remarks, which ranged from calling her "malnourished" to urging her to eat a "Greggs steak bake." One unkind Instagram user wrote: "I mean this genuinely, and I'm no Greek god but you genuinely look unhealthy and very malnourished…" A second posted: "Appreciate you feel good and happy but younger girls watching and aspiring may follow suit and this isn't good for anyone…" A third then put: "Babe always thought you were fit, but a little tooooooo slim my love xxx." One then added: "Could do with a good meal. May I suggest a Greggs steak bake followed by a Vanilla slice." Another remarked: "You need a good feed girl." Yet after spotting the comments on her feed, the brunette took the keyboard bullies to task directly. Luisa Zissman breaks down in tears over 'majestic' horse's death and says she got him stuff because she 'couldn't bear not to see him again' She headed to her Instagram Stories for a text post which read: "The comments on this holiday bikini pic. "Imagine I went round calling of you biscuit eating McDonald's loving lazy people fatties' and insisted her body is the result of 'energetic, health and mostly clean living'. Luisa, who is more than entitled to defend herself from the hurtful remarks, wrote: 'If you got off your a***s and stopped shoving s**t in your mouths you wouldn't be as fat and fat wouldn't be normal. "Just because the majority of people are overweight does NOT mean it's healthy." She added: "Shocking that when people see a healthy body with a healthy BMI in a healthy weight range they think it's not normal." STANDING ON BUSINESS Luisa continued to fight her corner on her second Instagram Stories slide. In it, she wrote in white text on a black background: "And no, I'm not sorry for my comments it's TRUE. "I'm stronger than most of you mo*fos, I can do endless press ups, pulls ups, I lift weights… "I can do sit ups until the cows come home and all you can do is comment that I'm unhealthy when you're craving Greggs at 8am when your lazy a***s wakes up…. 'So go f**k yourselves. The world is a sad place when everyone is normalising being a fat b*****d and having your organs surrounded by layers of fat is normal. "OBESITY IS THE NHS BIGGEST COST. Then you all moan you can't get a doctors appt." FAN SUPPORT Away from the trolling, Luisa's fans and famous faces were quick to support her. One pal posted: "Having met you in real life last week, I know you look fit, healthy and strong! Haters gonna hate." Former MIC star Ashley James then posted: "Looking at the comments - normalise not discussing people's weight." A fan then posted: "I just saw the response to the dumbass comments on this post and its made me love you even more! "Yea Luisa! Yes! bloody love you and your raw comebacks! You look and ARE amazing!!!" After her Apprentice fame, Luisa went on to star in Celebrity Big Brother 13 where she came fourth. The Milton Keynes born star then became a panelist on spin off show, Big Brother's Bit On The Side before launching her own podcast with Anna Williamson. Strictly Come Dancing fans 'disgusted' and demand BBC take action over new star
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Strictly Come Dancing viewers have been left 'disgusted' by one of the latest celebrities announced for the forthcoming series. The BBC Saturday evening stalwart started revealing its line-up in recent days, ahead of a September debut, but some supporters are unhappy with who has been selected to take part. Thomas Skinner, who is most famous for featuring on The Apprentice, will be displaying his dancing skills for judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Mosi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke in just a few weeks' time, but due to his reputation for controversial opinions shared on social media, some viewers have expressed their disapproval. One supporter posted on X: "Disgusted that grifter Tom Skinner has got the #Strictly gig. Have the BBC not looked at his social media output?" to which another responded: "Somebody who has different political opinions than me is on television. BAN THEM." However, the original poster maintained that wasn't their intention as audiences in large numbers called for his social media history to be examined, reports the Mirror. Another watcher commented: "Oh dear God no. You really think platforming a known bigot is the right way to go for a show which has already had more than its share of troubles?" whilst a third added: "Appalling booking - has the BBC not seen his social media output?" as they all urged the broadcaster to scrutinise his online presence. One fan, when discussing his social media presence, commented: "They probably have, which is why they haven't tagged his account in the announcement! ! What a bizarre choice from them!" However, another Strictly enthusiast was more critical, stating: "I'm so serious, I loved this years #Strictly line up but casting Thomas Skinner has completely ruined the WHOLE thing,". The 32 year old businessman from Essex, now famous for his successful pillow and mattress business, first gained recognition on the 2019 series of Lord Alan Sugar's BBC show, where he lasted until week nine of the competition. Skinner, also known for his frank videos on social media platform X, has attracted hundreds of thousands of followers with his posts about business, politics, and daily life. His online presence has led to an unexpected friendship with US Vice President JD Vance, Donald Trump's running mate. (Image: PA) Vance has expressed support for the businessman on X after Skinner revealed he had received death threats and "vile comments about my children" following a series of tweets in which he stated "something's gone wrong" in the UK and asserted "there is nothing wrong with being proud of where you're from". Just a few days ago, Tom shared a post with Vance, where the two were seen together at a barbecue. He wrote: "Here is a pic of Me and Vice President @JDVance towards the end of the night after a few beers I'm overdressed in my suit, but when the VP invites you to a BBQ, you don't risk turning up in shorts an flip-flops Cracking night in the beautiful English countryside with JD, his friends and family. Once in a lifetime. Bosh!". In a follow-up tweet, he added: "When the Vice President of the USA invites ya for a barbecue an beers, you say yes. Unreal night with JD and his friends n family. He was a proper gent. Lots of laughs and some fantastic food. A brilliant night, one to tell the grand kids about mate. Bosh!".

BBC edits out second MasterChef contestant
The BBC has edited out a second contestant from the most recent MasterChef series in light of the Gregg Wallace scandal. The presenter was sacked shortly before a report upheld 45 allegations against him. The majority of the offences related to inappropriate and sexually explicit comments, but Wallace was also found guilty of three instances of 'being in a state of undress' and one of unwanted physical contact. John Torode was also dropped after he allegedly used racist language. He said he had 'no recollection' of ever doing so. The BBC decided that the present series, filmed before these findings, would be aired but carefully edited to reduce their screen time. It said pulling the series would be unfair on contestants who could miss out on a life-changing career opportunity. One contestant, Sarah Shafi, had already asked to be edited out of the programme. The BBC aired an episode on Wednesday evening, which had been set to include the contestant, but five chefs were featured instead of the expected six. A spokesman for Banijay, the show's production company, said: 'One other contributor decided that given recent events they would like not to be included. We have of course accepted their wishes and edited them out of the show.' Ms Shafi complained that the series was being aired at all in the wake of the controversy surrounding Wallace, who was accused of 'unsafe' behaviour. She told The Guardian: 'I said, 'Axe the show, don't air the show. I'm asking you not to air the show.' Prominent figures have been abusing their power. What message does that send out to women?' Speaking when the BBC's annual report was released in July, Mr Davie said he believed Masterchef had a future, adding: 'It absolutely can survive and prosper, but we've got to make sure we're in the right place in terms of the culture of the show.' He said of tackling stars' behaviour: 'This is a time of transition for the industry, a reset, and the changes we are driving are overdue.'
