For the unversed, Kher made his debut in Mahesh Bhatt's 1984 classic Saaransh. At the premiere of Tanvi The Great, the filmmaker recalled the moment Kher first knocked on his door 41 years ago, and how it led to Saaransh, a film that featured him as BV Pradhan. Mahesh Bhatt called Tanvi The Great an 'extension of the spirit of Saaransh', and said that nothing can be more gratifying for a mentor than to see his prodigy outshine him.
