Coronation Street casts Brookside legend in new role

Metro11-07-2025
Former Brookside star Sarah White has signed on the dotted line for a Coronation Street guest stint.
The actress, 56, appeared as Bev Dixon in the Channel 4 soap across four separate stints between 1993 and the final ever episode in 2003.
With 618 episodes under her belt, Sarah is a real soap legend – and later went on to have three parts in the now axed BBC daytime medical drama Doctors.
She also starred in the 2017 film God's Own Country, and more recently in the final series of Jimmy McGovern series Moving On.
Now, it has been reported that she's heading to the cobbles later in the year.
Sarah's character will be entwined in Theo Silverton's (James Cartwright) bitter divorce from wife Danielle (Natalie Anderson), who he left for a new life with Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce).
His difficult upbringing was then explored, with Theo revealing that he had been put through conversion therapy.
Recent scenes have shown his behaviour become somewhat unpredictable, and his daughter Millie (Kaitlyn Early) has caused a multitude of issues.
After faking a pregnancy, she continued to try and drive a wedge between her father and Todd.
'Sarah will be playing a mediator as part of Theo Silverton's acrimonious divorce from wife Danielle,' a source confirmed to The Sun.
'She's filming now and will be seen on screen later this year.'
Speaking of the story, Gareth Pierce told Metro: 'I think at this point, we're starting to spot some anger management issues on Theo's part, at the very least.

'There's some flashes of anger that have left Todd shocked but equally, because he's had that insight into the conversion therapy and where Theo is coming into this new life from, he's perhaps willing to guide him through it.' More Trending
He continued: 'He's trying to be understanding of Theo. He's been suppressing his sexuality for so long, Todd is trying to encourage him towards being someone that can be comfortable in their new gay identity.
'I think Todd has spotted many things from Theo, but he still has the mindset that he can fix this and because of the love that's there, he's thinking they will get through it.

'Our audience are probably also spotting some of those flashes of jealousy and perhaps a kind of need to control that maybe Todd is not currently spotting or doesn't want to spot.'

Emmerdale's Mack actor Lawrence Robb speaks out as character 'killed off'

Emmerdale's Mackenzie Boyd actor Lawrence Robb has addressed his upcoming storyline, speaking out for the first time since reports he was being killed off on the ITV soap Mackenzie Boyd actor Lawrence Robb has addressed his next big Emmerdale storyline that will reportedly lead to his exit. Speaking for the first time since the reports emerged, Lawrence promised big scenes ahead. ‌ The actor did not comment on whether Mack would be killed or not, or the rumours surrounding a potential departure. The interview was held before the reports were shared, while Mack actor Lawrence did drop some major hints. ‌ It comes after it was claimed that Mack will die at the hands of killer John Sugden after he unearths his dark secret. Now, new spoilers for next week appear to back this, when it's said Mack makes a discovery that could change everything. ‌ The clue simply reads: "Mack discovers a clue, what has Mack found?" It's very vague but the spoilers in full appear to allude that it's linked to John, and Lawrence has now confirmed this. Asked about what he discovers and what it means, the star confessed it would lead to the moment Mack finally realises he's been right about John all along. He then teased it will land him in serious danger, with "bleak" scenes ahead. ‌ But speaking out about working with co-star Oliver Farnworth, who plays killer John, Lawrence had nothing but good things to say. Addressing the "tense" and "not good" scenes they've had to film together, Lawrence said offscreen the pair get along very well, with him calling Oliver "the loveliest man". He shared: "Oh, he's great. What a lovely boy. I've said that several times. I phoned him a couple of weeks ago, just to say how I thought he was doing such a great job, because, you know, playing a psycho like that - it is not easy. ‌ "And I do think he's doing a great job. And he is just the most loveliest man. It is surreal working with someone in such a relative close proximity for a while, and to really get to know them better and to just have a laugh with them, but then then do some not very nice scenes." On the future for Mack amid a row with his wife Charity Dingle and the stuff with John, Lawrence remained coy but did hint at bad things ahead. He simply said: "It's not looking good." Lawrence went on: "Whilst Mackenzie has got the argument with Charity on his plate, he's also got a pretty critical moment with John on his plate as well. And, combine these two things and it does not spell good things." Emmerdale double exit sealed in Aaron storyline as star reveals all on emotional scenes

Could a double exit be on the cards as John Sugden continues to struggle with what he has done to Nate and others, and Aaron starts to feel regret over his liaison with ex Robert? Emmerdale star Ryan Hawley has teased a double exit in a new storyline. Robert Sugden made his return to the village a few weeks back and it has been quite the dramatic few weeks involving his love Aaron Dingle. ‌ Viewers know John Sugden - Aaron's new husband - is a serial killer and only wants bad things for the village and its residents. Robert is onto him - but no one believes him, with everyone convinced John is such a nice guy. ‌ Next week, Aaron and Robert give into temptation - and it's clear Aaron still has feelings for his ex. But will he manage to convince Aaron to change his mind and stay in the village - or leave with John? It comes after a Coronation Street and Mrs Brown's Boys actor dies after short illness. ‌ Asked how Robert will react when he finds out that Aaron and John are leaving the village, he said: "He will be devastated, obviously. Robert came back to the village for Aaron, really. He'd be devastated - it was his reason to come back. He will be very worried about Aaron's safety, but at the same time, I think at this point, maybe he's starting to doubt whether or not he's right about John. "Maybe John's gaslighting and manipulation's got through to him. Because everyone's saying the same things to Robert, that he's wrong about John and that he's just jealous." ‌ It has been a tough return to the village for Robert - who has been shunned by pretty much everyone over his behaviour with John and his hope of breaking things off between the village hero and Aaron Dingle. "Everyone's moved on and Aaron's moved on and there's a happy equilibrium it seems that Aaron's found in his relationship with John. And I guess that Paddy and people care about him. Chas, they're all riled to see Robert's back because they know that that will kind of disrupt that. He's unanimously looked down on. Well, actually, except for people like Caleb," he said. ‌ "Caleb gives him a chance as does Moira, Moira gives him a chance, but yeah, it turns out that Robert of double crosses her and betrays Moira. Victoria's kind of the only one that's really there and caring for him and supporting him and trying to help him through." Whatever happens next, Ryan warned there would be some exciting scenes ahead. He shared: "I'm genuinely excited about the year that we've got ahead. I think the show's in a great place at the moment. "I think the next year, the kind of the story arc that I've been told, I'm really interested in and really excited about. And the Corrie Dale, the crossover, that's going to be a great a great week for both shows."

Strictly 2025: Everything To Know About Balvinder Sopal

After months of rumours and speculation, and with just weeks to go before this year's series of Strictly Come Dancing launches, the star-studded line-up is slowly being revealed. Gladiators star Nitro – whose real name is Harry Aikines-Aryeetey – was the first big name announced for the upcoming season, followed by Dani Dyer, Alex Kingston and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. Soap actress Balvinder Sopal is set to join them and head to the dance floor, as she swaps Albert Square for the Argentine Tango. 'Being on Strictly is a dream that I held on to, with no proof that it would ever happen. Working on EastEnders and being a part of Strictly Come Dancing is the stuff that dreams are made of,' she said. 'I'm far too excited to put into words how I feel but I'm incredibly excited at the prospect of dancing across the ballroom!' She revealed she has already done ballroom and Latin dancing as a 'hobby'. 'I think when you've got a passion for something, you're naturally inclined to enjoy it. I'll enjoy it but I don't know if I'll be any good,' she said. Balvinder is an actress, who currently plays Suki Kaur Panesar-Unwin on BBC soap EastEnders. Balvinder was born on 4 December 1978, making her 46. Balvinder lives in Medway, Kent. 'I love where I come from. It's taken me a while to really appreciate how creatively diverse Medway and surrounding areas in Kent are. Sure, some places aren't as beautiful, affluent or full of rows of quaint little coffee shops, but it is full of heart, and it's where I grew up,' she said. 'It's where I come from.' Balvinder is not believed to be married in real life. Before joining EastEnders in January 2020, Balvinder has appeared on other soaps Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors. Over her 20-year-long career on stage and screen, she has also been on Waterloo Road and Call The Midwife. But it's as villainous and protective matriarch Suki and the character's lesbian relationship with Eve Unwin (portrayed by Heather Peace), which fans called 'Sukeve', that she's made her name. 'I've always played downtrodden, submissive women, so to be out there and sort of the female version of Phil Mitchell, I think is great,' she said. Eve and Suki married in January, becoming the first lesbian couple to tie the knot on the show.
