With the restaurant sector flourishing along Wind Street, many locals have expressed a desire for more diverse shopping destinations. ‌ The closure of big-name stores like Zara and The Body Shop, has further highlighted the need for new retail choices. Never miss a Swansea story by signing up to our newsletter here . ‌ The new store, located in Swansea Quadrant, will feature an immersive space showcasing Rituals' signature range of luxurious bath, body, and home products, all designed to encourage moments of mindfulness and self-care in daily life. It is believed that it will be located in the unit that previously housed The Body Shop. This opening also forms part of Rituals' wider UK expansion strategy. With existing stores in Cardiff and Bridgend, the new location will strengthen the brand's presence in Wales and extend access to its popular wellbeing-focused collections. News of the September opening of the store has already been met with a positive reactions from locals. One person commented, "Can't wait, love Rituals." Another added, "Can't wait, love their stuff." Article continues below A third said, "Never heard of this shop but by their online site it looks fairly decent - and a couple of notches up from what we usually get in Swansea!" Founded in Amsterdam in 2000, Rituals now operates in over 33 countries, with more than 1,300 stores worldwide. As a Certified B Corporation, the brand is committed to improving its social and environmental impact, with a focus on using natural origin ingredients and recyclable or refillable packaging. ‌ As well as the new Rituals store, it was confirmed earlier this year that two retailers and a leisure operator will open at Swansea's former Debenhams store, also located in Quadrant, next year. Council leader Rob Stewart said: "We know how important the former Debenhams building is for local people and city centre businesses. "That's why we've been working tirelessly to attract retail and leisure tenants and reach a stage where refurbishment work can take place to prepare the building for occupation once again." Article continues below The former Debenhams anchor store closed in 2021 when the company went into administration. The council bought it, backed by £2.85 million of Welsh Government funding. The purchase price was £3.15 million, with a further sum of just over £100,000 spent on professional fees and roof repairs. It is hoped that Rituals, and the new businesses setting up at the former Debenhams building, will breathe new life into the Swansea shopping centre.

Pulco becomes the first padel apparel brand to launch at Harrods

Racket sport Padel is on the rise in the UK, and Pulco has become the first-ever padel apparel brand to be stocked in luxury department store Harrods. The UK-based padel apparel brand, founded by Joe Middleton, former president of Levi's EMEA and chief executive of Canterbury, draws inspiration from the sun-drenched courts of Acapulco in Mexico, where padel was born in 1969 by Enrique Corcuera to "bring the sport's heritage to life". The sportswear brand designs its collections in London, utilising advanced performance fabrics from Italy to offer elevated athletic apparel 'with understated, off-court elegance,' from technical essentials to casual pieces and premium accessories. Pulco at Harrods Credits: Pulco At the heart of its collections is the 'Aircon Playing Shirt', constructed from an ultra-lightweight, Italian-engineered fabric, featuring a weave that rapidly wicks moisture from the inside out, "delivering unrivalled breathability and comfort in play". As well as on-court performance wear, the collection also has a full lifestyle offering, including hoodies, T-shirts, shorts, sweatshirts, gilets, and a coach's jacket, as well as socks and caps. On launching in Harrods, Middleton said in a statement: 'We are incredibly proud to be the first padel apparel brand at Harrods. This is not only a milestone for our brand, but also for the sport of padel. It's an inclusive, fast-growing community and we're excited to lead the way in bringing performance and style to a wider audience through Harrods.' Igo Theo Ian, creative director of Pulco, added: 'Honouring padel's roots is central to everything we do. We are passionate about celebrating the spirit of innovation, friendship and rebellion that defines this sport whilst delivering the finest, most technically advanced apparel in the world.'
