Steelers' Tomlin says Aaron Rodgers (calf) fine after practice misstep
Rodgers needed his calf wrapped after he was stepped on during the final practice of Pittsburgh Steelers training camp, but coach Mike Tomlin was unconcerned after Rodgers was able to finish practice.
Rookie Derrick Harmon bull-rushed an offensive lineman into Pittsburgh's new quarterback, and Rodgers lower leg was accidentally stepped on in the process.
Per reports from camp in Latrobe, Pa., Rodgers had scratches on his right shin and athletic trainers applied a bag of ice. The trainers wrapped his calf, and he returned to the drill without missing a rep.
"He just got stepped on," Tomlin said afterward. "It was nothing of any significance. He finished his work."
Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles on his fourth snap as a New York Jet in 2023, but that injury was to his left leg, not his right.
Rodgers spoke to reporters before practice, where the focus was more on his new helmet, the Schutt Air XP Pro VTD II. Rodgers had to pick a new model because his previous one, the Schutt Air XP Pro Q11 LTD, is no longer sanctioned because it doesn't meet the league's evolved safety standards.
"I don't like it, no," Rodgers said Tuesday. "I'm trying to change. We're in the process still. It looks like a damn spaceship out there.
"We got to change it. The face mask doesn't fit the helmet because that's an old face mask, obviously just like I'm old, but we're trying to find the right helmet right now."

A third boldly proclaimed Williams is 'the greatest quarterback of all time' while another tipped him to be '2025 MVP and Super Bowl winner'. A more composed viewer posted: 'Caleb Williams threw some absolute lasers on that first drive.' Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. offered around to other NFL teams in brutal snub
The Washington Commanders have reportedly offered running back Brian Robinson Jr. around to other NFL teams. Robinson, 26, has three seasons under his belt and has been efficient throughout his NFL career so far. However, the former third-round NFL Draft pick out of Alabama is poised to enter the final year of his contract and the Commanders seemingly feel it's time to cash in, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Robinson Jr. has rushed for more than 2,329 yards across the last three seasons and scored 20 touchdowns. In the 2024 season, he started 13 of the 14 games he played in and had a career-best eight touchdowns from 187 carries for another career-best 799 yards. His impressive numbers helped the Commanders make it to the NFC Championship Game, in which they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, as he linked up well with quarterback Jayden Daniels in his own remarkable rookie campaign. The Commanders are said to be happy with their running back depth, which also includes Austin Ekeler, Jeremy McNichols and Chris Rodriguez Jr. It remains to be seen where Robinson Jr. could end up but it does mean the future of another Commanders star is up in the air. The franchise's star wide receiver Terry McLaurin is also disgruntled after protracted contract talks have failed to yield a new deal. The Commanders removed McLaurin from the physically unable to perform list early Saturday. While the two sides have yet to agree to a contract extension, it means McLaurin can return to practice and start preparing for the season. Multiple outlets reported Saturday that there was no sign of movement on a deal. Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury said Friday that time was running short before the season for McLaurin to start getting reps on the field. Head coach Dan Quinn said there is a plan for McLaurin. 'We've got a real process in our return-to-play that we believe in. We know it works. So we'll hit all those steps,' he said Saturday. The Commanders open the season at home on September 7 against the New York Giants, their NFC East rival.

One of the biggest prevailing theories as to which NFL teams will make the Super Bowl has returned, with the logo color theory, meaning the colors of the official game logo will take the field. The two predominant colors in the Super Bowl LX logo are light blue and purple, reminiscent of the main colors of the Detroit Lions and Baltimore Ravens. Of course, both of those teams are among the top teams in each conference, with that matchup not hard to imagine more than five months away from the championship clash. Both the Lions and Ravens lost in the Divisional round last year respectively to the Washington Commanders and Buffalo Bills. Two of the last three years, the logo has correctly identified the participants. The green and red in the 2025 Super Bowl logo design represented the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. Two seasons ago was a miss, with a purple-and-red logo, leading NFL theorists to believe it would be a Super Bowl between the Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. The NFC pick was correct, but the Chiefs dynasty was not disrupted. The Super Bowl logo from 2023 was also green and red, with the Chiefs and Eagles meeting in that game. There are also minor colors of green, yellow, and red in the Super Bowl 60 logo, which could point to a few others. Not only could the 49ers, Eagles, and Chiefs return to the NFL's championship game, but the Commanders, Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Rams, and Los Angeles Chargers could all make the case. The Super Bowl 60 logo has more colors in it than most championship-game designs in recent memory, giving more cover to those that believe the theory. The Lions have never appeared in a Super Bowl, while the Ravens have not played in one since they won it in 2012.
