Arquette is hitting .354 with 18 home runs and 65 RBIs for the Beavers while manning shortstop, proving to be the perfect replacement for former OSU star and 2024 No. 1 pick overall MLB draft pick Travis Bazzana.
The 6-foot-5 star has gone 14-for-36 (.389 batting average) with three doubles, a home run, five RBIs and 11 runs scored in the postseason. Arquette is looking to lead the Beavers to their first national title since the 2018 season, at the 2025 College World Series.
Here's what you need to know about Arquette, his stats, mock draft and why he transferred from Washington to Oregon State:
Why did Aiva Arquette transfer from Washington to Oregon State?
After seeing former Oregon State second baseman Bazzana selected No. 1 overall in the 2024 MLB Draft by the Cleveland Guardians, Arquette looked to forge a similar path for himself. In 2024, as a sophomore, Arquette hit for a .325 batting average, slugging 14 doubles, 12 home runs and 36 RBIs.
He earned all-conference honors in the Pac-12 and was selected to the conference's all-defensive team. As a freshman, he played in just 15 games as he battled injuries throughout the 2023 season.
Arquette, who was ranked as the best player available in the transfer portal last offseason by Baseball America, picked the Beavers over Mississippi State and Texas A&M.
Where is Aiva Arquette from?
Arquette was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he also attended Saint Louis High School. He was ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the state of Hawaii by Perfect Game. In addition to being a star on the diamond, he was a star on the basketball court. He was named the 2022 Gatorade Player of the Year in Hawai'i in basketball.
He announced his intention to play college baseball at Washington on Nov. 10, 2021, and decided to forgo starting his MLB career by opting to go to Seattle rather than sign with the Arizona Diamondbacks after the franchise selected him in the 18th round of the 2022 MLB Draft.
Aiva Arquette MLB draft projections
Here's a look at 2025 MLB draft projections for Arquette, who is heavily expected to be a top 10 pick:
Gabe Lacques, USA TODAY: First round, pick No. 3 to Seattle Mariners
"This might already be too far for monster prep right-hander Seth Hernandez to fall, but the Mariners have made their bones drafting and promptly developing college pitchers. This time, they roll with Arquette, a 6-foot-5 shortstop with considerable power (16 homers, 1.173 OPS) and discipline. Recently inspired an opponent to play a four-man outfield against him."
Kiley McDaniel, ESPN: First round, pick No. 4 to the Colorado Rockies:
"If Holliday doesn't get here, I'm told the options considered will include the remaining college left-handers (Arnold in this case), Kyson Witherspoon and Arquette. Witherspoon probably goes a bit after this, so he seems like the least likely unless there's an underslot deal."
Jim Callis, MLB.com: First round, pick No. 6 to the Pittsburgh Pirates:
"The Pirates will mull whichever upper-echelon options remain, with Holliday and Anderson the only ones who appear to have no chance to get to No. 6. This is probably Arquette's floor, though Hernandez also could be very tempting."
