Man arrested after Bournemouth footballer reported racist abuse at match
Match referee Anthony Taylor stopped play in the 29th minute on Friday and a man, 47, was ejected from Anfield stadium.
A 47-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and has been taken into custody to be interviewed, Merseyside Police said.
Semenyo scored twice in the second half to help bring Bournemouth back from two goals down at Anfield before Liverpool went on to eventually win the contest 4-2.

The following day, the 25-year-old forward said on social media: 'Last night at Anfield will stay with me forever – not because of one person's words, but because of how the entire football family stood together.'
He thanked his teammates, Liverpool players and fans 'who showed their true character', and the Premier League officials 'who handled it professionally'.
Semenyo continued: 'Scoring those two goals felt like speaking the only language that truly matters on the pitch. This is why I play – for moments like these, for my teammates, for everyone who believes in what this beautiful game can be.
'The overwhelming messages of support from across the football world remind me why I love this sport. We keep moving forward, together.'

During the match, Semenyo spoke to managers Arne Slot and Andoni Iraola before the two captains Virgil van Dijk and Adam Smith were called over to the dug-outs.
An anti-discrimination message was read out to the Anfield crowd, and it is understood that police officers went into the referee's room at half-time.
The incident came two days after Tottenham Hotspur player Mathys Tel received racist abuse online after missing a penalty in his side's Uefa Super Cup win against Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool captain van Dijk labelled the reported abuse aimed at Semenyo as a 'disgrace'.
He agreed it was symptomatic of a wider problem not restricted to football, but said greater attempts had to be made to change the mindset.
Campaigns such as taking the knee and Kick It Out have not been able to eradicate the issue, he added.
Van Dijk said: 'What else can we do? Because this is the very odd one (case) that has managed to say something that is obviously a disgrace.
'The only thing we can do is deal with it by dealing with him personally and try to educate the next generation. That is the only way to try and kick it out, in my opinion.
'I can't believe it. These things shouldn't happen but unfortunately it does and it is an absolute disgrace in my eyes.
'First and foremost these things should never happen in the world, not only football. I am happy to say I don't see it happening up until today actually.
'But in general racism is not of this world in my opinion, but if we are to be realistic, unfortunately, it still exists and that is the painful side of it.
'We have to deal with it in the here and now.'

Chief Inspector Kev Chatterton, match commander for the Liverpool versus Bournemouth game, said on Friday: 'Merseyside Police will not tolerate hate crime of any form.'
'We take incidents like this very seriously, and in cases like this we will be proactively seeking football banning orders, with the club, against those responsible.'
He added: 'There is no place for racism and it is vital that anyone who witnesses such an offence reports it to stewards, or the police, immediately so we can take the necessary action like we did this evening.
'As with all matches, we work very closely with both Liverpool and Everton FC to ensure the safety of the public and the players.'
A spokesperson for Liverpool Football Club said it is aware of the allegation of racist abuse and that 'we condemn racism and discrimination in all forms, it has no place in society, or football'.
The Football Association said it was 'concerned' about the allegation of racism towards Semenyo and that it would ensure 'appropriate action' would be taken.
West Yorkshire Police said a Luton Town supporter was arrested at the match against Bradford City at Valley Parade after an officer saw him making racist gestures at a home player shortly before half time.
'The 51-year-old man was removed from the ground and arrested on suspicion of behaving in a threatening, abusive or disorderly manner likely to cause harassment alarm or distress,' the force said.

Ruben Amorim sets unwanted 16-year record as Man Utd bitten by biggest problem
Manchester United kicked off their Premier League season with a disappointing home defeat against Arsenal, Riccardo Calafiori's early goal handing Mikel Arteta's victory at Old Trafford The more things change, the more they stay the same. Manchester United suffered defeat in their opening Premier League match of the season, falling to a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford - a goal from a set piece proving the difference between the two sides. That the Gunners' winner should have come about that way shouldn't have been a surprise. Ruben Amorim may have splashed £200million on a new attack this summer, but conceding from corners has troubled United more than any other side in the past two seasons; no one has conceded more from corners than their 23 goals in the Premier League since the start of 2023-24. Conversely, over that same period, Arsenal have scored 31 times. That's 11 more than the next best: Liverpool on 20. For all that fingers will be pointed at stand-in 'keeper Altay Bayindir for his role in Riccardo Calafiori's winner - and fingers will indeed be pointed at the Turkey international because it was weak, dismal goalkeeping under the tiniest amount of pressure from William Saliba - the goal was just the continuation of a very familiar theme for United. Amorim promised a new era when he spoke to the crowd at the end of last season, but he needs to stamp out such overfamiliar problems. They will continue to cost his side until he does. And such stupid goals will continue to be conceded so long as his players aren't willing to point fingers at one another and call out mistakes. But still they were beaten. This was far from a vintage performance from Arsenal. They were some way below their best. But they walk away with three points and an opening day success away from home. Indeed, Arsenal allowed 22 shots on their goal. The last time United managed that many against the Gunners in the Premier League, they managed 25 and scored EIGHT in an infamous 8-2 thrashing 14 years ago. This time, David Raya only made one real save of note, a brilliant low fingertip save to deny £62.5m Matheus Cunha. For Amorim, it was his 15th defeat in 28 Premier League games. Remarkably, it is the fastest a manager has reached 15 defeats in the top flight - provided he hasn't taken over a newly promoted team - since Paul Hart hit 15 losses in 27 games as Portsmouth boss in 2009, 16 years ago. More will almost certainly follow unless he improves his side's defending at set pieces. He can focus on having his side play 'his way' as much as he likes. But they need to start doing the rest right too.

Altay Bayindir's blunder handed Arsenal victory and undid a positive Manchester United performance in Sunday's pulsating Premier League encounter. Old Trafford rocked as Mikel Arteta's runners-up headed to the rebuilding Red Devils in the most eye-catching fixture of the opening weekend. United looked far better than the side that finished 15th last season – their worst top-flight campaign since 1974 – yet Ruben Amorim's side fell to a 1-0 defeat as Riccardo Calafiori capitalised on Bayindir's early flap. The back-up goalkeeper was outmuscled by William Saliba as he attempted to deal with a Declan Rice corner, tipping it on for the defender to nod into an empty net and silence Old Trafford after a bright start. Bayindir's error underlined concerns over the goalkeeping position at Old Trafford, where often unconvincing number one Andre Onana was absent as he works his way back from a hamstring injury. United are a work in progress but summer signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo looked sharp on their debuts, with Patrick Dorgu hitting a post with a lasered first-half effort. Arsenal keeper David Raya produced a string of important stops to keep the hosts at bay, with his man of the match of the display helping Arteta's side to victory. United's appeals for a foul fell on deaf ears as Arsenal scored their 31st Premier League goal from a corner since the start of the 2023-24 campaign – 11 more than any other team. That moment seemed to lead to some of the nervousness within the ground that Amorim referenced ahead of the game, but his side's refreshed approach and personnel helped lift the mood. Mbeumo saw a shot deflect wide before Dorgu followed a burst down the left with a fierce shot that hit the outside of the far post. Cunha looked like United's biggest threat and showed tenacity and confidence in the 32nd minute when his rampaging run from his own half led him to burst through Arsenal bodies and get a shot on Raya's goal. The goalkeeper comfortably dealt with that attempt and another from distance, but he had to be at his best to get a fingertip on the Brazil international's low drive from an acute angle as half-time approached. Arsenal were solid but unspectacular when the second half got under way, with Arteta replacing ineffective debutant Viktor Gyokeres on the hour mark. The Sweden international had shone under Amorim at Sporting Lisbon and had previously been linked with a move to United, whose fans cheered his substitution. United's new frontman Benjamin Sesko was introduced to a huge roar shortly after, offering a tantalising first look at their rebuilt front three. Cunha continued confidently and Mbeumo was a handful, with an acrobatic attempt soon followed by a header that forced a full stretch save from Raya. Sesko nodded across the face of goal as the home side continued to knock on the door, but Arsenal dug deep and Rice saw a whipped free-kick deflect narrowly wide at the other end. United pushed until the end and Cunha saw a penalty claim ignored, but there was no leveller as Arteta's side started the season with a win as '1-0 to the Arsenal' echoed around the ground.
