The vlog, posted on Alia's official YouTube channel, shows the actor in her hotel room on the French Riviera. At one point in the video, Alia gets dressed and has her hair and makeup done by her team. In the background, the hotel's message for her is visible on an LCD. The message is addressed to 'Dear Alia Kapoor', implying that Alia has adopted the Kapoor surname since her wedding to Ranbir.
The screengrab of the moment was shared on Reddit by some eagle-eyed fans. The top comment to the post read, "Must've taken her husband's name and kept Bhatt for her public-facing career since she is widely known by that surname." Others argued that the hotel may have erroneously written that. But Redditors said that since international hotels use booking IDs for such messages, it was likely Alia had legally changed her name. "How will a hotel in France know her husband's surname? 🤷🏼♀️ anyway, hotel booking is done according to your legal name on ID's," reasoned one Reddit user.
While the internet debated the logic behind Alia changing her name - some dissed patriarchy while others called it her choice - many felt that Alia needs to remain a Bhatt as it's a 'brand' now. "But she's always be Alia Bhatt to me, naam mein wajan aagaya hai abhi (the name carries some heft). It's a brand name now," argued one. Another harked back to Alia's appearance on Koffee With Karan a couple of years ago and asked, "I thought it was "Alia Bhatt Kapoor" as she mentioned it on KWK. Ranveer got very happy and said it's got a ring to it."
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor tied the knot in April 2022 after years of dating. The two met on the sets of their 2022 film Brahmastra. Alia and Ranbir welcomed their daughter, Raha, in November 2022. Just days before his tragic death in London, the businessman had posted a message on social media where he spoke about making the most of one's time on earth. Moose Wala documentary: Mansa court directs BBC to file reply on June 16
A Mansa court on Thursday directed BBC World Service and two others to file their replies on June 16 in a civil suit related to the documentary on the murder of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moose Wala. The matter was heard by civil judge (senior division) Rajinder Singh Nagpal where the counsel for BBC, investigative journalist Ishleen Kaur and programme producer Ankur Jain was ordered to file statements at the next hearing. BBC World Service released the two-part documentary, The Killing Call, on YouTube on June 11, coinciding with Moose Wala's 32nd birth anniversary. The documentary, focusing on the murder of Moose Wala, was initially scheduled to be screened publicly in Mumbai, but due to the growing controversy and legal challenges, it was released on YouTube. The release went ahead despite a legal request from Moose Wala's father, Balkaur Singh, who had approached the Mansa court seeking a stay. Balkaur's counsel Satinder Pal Singh on Thursday said that the counsel for the respondents requested the court hear the matter after the summer vacation. 'Following Balkaur's submission for an early hearing, the court accepted the plea and the respondents were directed to file their statements on Monday,' the lawyer said. Balkaur has already served a legal notice to the broadcaster and lodged complaints with Maharashtra Police, alleging that the documentary contains objectionable content, including personal testimonies and commentary on the Moose Wala murder which is under trial. Singer-turned-politician Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead at Jawaharke near his native village of Musa in Mansa district on May 29, 2022.
