John Torode looks tired on stroll after wife Lisa breaks silence on MasterChef exit
Former MasterChef judge John Torode was spotted on a stroll with his dog Rory this week. It comes after his wife Lisa Faulkner broke her silence amid the scandal over the show and she later said that Rory had kept her smiling through it.
It was announced earlier this month that John, 60, would not have his contract renewed. Production company Banijay said that an investigation into Gregg Wallace's behaviour by firm Lewis Silkin had "substantiated an accusation of highly offensive racist language against" John. John has however said: "I have no recollection of what I'm accused of."
John was seen enjoying a walk with his dog Rory and a friend in London earlier this week amid the fallout from the scandal. It comes as the presenter's former co-star Gregg continues to promote his health and fitness coaching following his own departure from MasterChef.
John was spotted out in the capital city on Tuesday as he enjoyed a relaxed walk with Rory and restaurateur Peter Horton. The pals are said to have been seen chatting as they took a stroll together whilst accompanied by John's dog.
The former MasterChef host, who appeared to be yawning in some photos from the outing, opted for a casual look. John was seen wearing a blue t-shirt, grey hoodie, blue joggers and a pair of blue trainers for the walk two days ago.
It comes after his wife Lisa, 53, broke her silence after John's departure from MasterChef, which he had co-hosted since it relaunched in 2005. She thanked fans for their support in a video on Instagram just a few days ago.
Lisa said in the video message: ""Hi there. I just wanted to check in and say hello. I'm here and just thank you for all your lovely comments because they really, really mean a lot." She concluded by telling her followers: "So thank you."
She later revealed that the couple's dog has kept her smiling lately amid John making headlines over his exit from the TV show. She made the remark in a post on the platform alongside a photo of herself and Rory on Tuesday.
Lisa wrote: "Our little shadow over the past few weeks. I can't tell you how much Rory has kept me smiling. Every day she wakes up wagging her tail, smiling and greeting a new day with her positivity! My motto really is Be More Rory."
Earlier this month, the BBC said: "John Torode has identified himself as having an upheld allegation of using racist language against him. This allegation, which involves an extremely offensive racist term being used in the workplace, was investigated and substantiated by the independent investigation led by the law firm, Lewis Silkin. John Torode denies the allegation.
"He has stated he has no recollection of the alleged incident and does not believe that it happened. He also says that any racial language is wholly unacceptable in any environment. The BBC takes this upheld finding extremely seriously. We will not tolerate racist language of any kind and, as we have already said, we told Banijay UK, the makers of MasterChef, that action must be taken. John Torode's contract on MasterChef will not be renewed."
Shortly after, John posted a statement that read: "Although I haven't heard from anyone at the BBC or Banijay - I am seeing and reading that I've been 'sacked' from MasterChef and I repeat that I have no recollection of what I'm accused of. The enquiry could not even state the date or year of when I am meant to have said something wrong.
"I'd hoped that I'd have some say in my exit from a show I've worked on since its relaunch in 2005, but events in last few days seem to have prevented that. Over the past few months, I have been considering my life and the shape of it now and in the future.
"Celebrity MasterChef, which I recently filmed with Grace Dent along with two fantastic Christmas specials will be my last. Personally, I have loved every minute working on MasterChef, but it's time to pass the cutlery to someone else. For whoever takes over, love it as I have.
"I will watch fondly from afar as I now focus on the many other exciting projects that I have been working towards. My tummy will be grateful for a rest after 20 years of eating, but what a joy it has been. Life is everchanging and ever moving & sometimes personal happiness and fulfilment lay elsewhere. Thank you for the many years of MasterChef."
As previously reported, production company Banijay said: "The legal team at Lewis Silkin that investigated the allegations relating to Gregg Wallace also substantiated an accusation of highly offensive racist language against John Torode which occurred in 2018. This matter has been formally discussed with John Torode by Banijay UK, and whilst we note that John says he does not recall the incident, Lewis Silkin have upheld the very serious complaint. Banijay UK and the BBC are agreed that we will not renew his contract on MasterChef."

Tom Gleeson takes a savage swipe at Channel Seven during Logies speech - before revealing his dream part in Erin Patterson telemovie
Tom Gleeson didn't hold back at the Logie Awards on Sunday night - using his moment on stage to take a swipe at Channel Seven. The Gold Logie winner was presenting alongside MasterChef star Poh Ling Yeow when he delivered a deadpan tirade against the network, accusing it of favouring its own talent when it comes to awards. 'G'day, congratulations Poh, we are nominated for the Gold Logie award, a prestigious award and cannot be mocked,' Gleeson began, with his signature sarcasm. 'I cannot think of anything critical to say about it. I will happily make jokes about religion but the Gold Logie is beyond critique. It can change everything - I was hosting Hard Quiz, I won… and I still am.' Then, in a cutting jab at Seven, he quipped: 'You are not going to win because you are not on Channel Seven. That is how it works. Channel Seven are giving out awards to themselves - it's like they've invited us to their house so we can watch them win.' While the room erupted in laughter, Gleeson doubled down - telling the live audience and viewers at home that voting was still open and urging them to get behind Poh. 'Over one million people are watching - if everyone voted for Poh, it could be an upset. And you know I love an upset. You can vote for Channel Seven if you want, but if you don't know, vote Poh.' Poh, clearly relieved she didn't have to say it herself, laughed: 'Thanks Tom, I was going to say something but it would have been gross!' Gleeson then switched gears to the mushroom poisoning case that shocked the nation, openly pitching for a role in a future dramatisation. 'I'm aware the mushroom court case will get turned into a telemovie and the deadly custard people are probably in the room right now,' he said. 'I want to put my hand up and say I am more than happy to play Erin Patterson's ex-husband. More than happy! Or the owner of an Asian grocery store that clearly did not exist.' And in the end - Tom was right. The Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television went to Home and Away star Lynne McGranger, 72, who was overcome with emotion as she took to the stage. Kate Miller-Heidke and Sonia Kruger helped Lynne carry her dramatic dress train as she made her way to the microphone. Logie Awards 2025 RECAP 'Thirty-three years I've done this amazing show and I'm thrilled and honoured,' she told the crowd. The beloved actress revealed she would eventually place her Gold Logie next to her 1974 Wagga Wagga Drama Festival Best Actress award, which sparked her decision to pursue a career in acting. But before doing so, she joked she'd be keeping it in her handbag - taking a playful dig at last year's Gold Logie winner Larry Emdur. 'I did promise that if I won the Gold Logie, I would carry it around in my handbag for a year - which is better than baring my white arse on morning television, Larry!' she quipped. Lynne also thanked her fellow nominees, the Home and Away cast and crew, and the loyal fans who keep 'free-to-air television alive'. Earlier in the night, after winning Best Lead Actress in a Drama, she also left the room in stitches when she thanked her husband - who bluntly told her he'd 'rather swallow a hammer' than attend her big night.

Not your average Dad jokes: the comedian that all my mum friends fancy
George Lewis has been my maternity leave companion. The 37-year-old comedian from Stockport clocks up hundreds of thousands of views for his Instagram reels. Mums on maternity leave, he tells me, form a big bulk of his audience. I can see why. On the trials of parenting young children, he is brilliantly entertaining and instantly relatable — an antidote to all those social media accounts sharing visions of perfect parenting. And fellow mums admit to a bit of a crush on Lewis. With his very good hair and cheeky grin, he is a dad you might not mind bumping into at the school gate. He started posting comedy sketches on Instagram during the pandemic and it was the parenting ones that struck a chord. He has three children, aged two, five and seven, with his wife, Harriet, and 625,000 remarkably well-behaved Instagram followers. His series in which two toddlers chat to one another like adult friends is among his most popular content. The toddlers (both played by Lewis) discuss the devastation of dropping a piece of banana on the floor, adding 'character' to blank, freshly painted walls with a crayon, and the impact of dropping the daytime nap: 'Maybe it has affected me a little bit.' We've all been there.

Sugababes ‘honoured' to share same stage as Mariah Carey after headlining Pride
On Sunday, the English girl group closed the weekend of celebrations in Preston Park with a show full of throwbacks and synchronised dance moves. After taking to the stage, they said 'last night headlining was Mariah' before adding: 'It's a complete honour to be on the same stage.' Just like Carey on Saturday, the group told the audience that the LGBT+ community has always been the 'core' of their fanbase. Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy had the whole crowd bouncing as they closed the show with About You Now, despite some microphone issues. Buena seemed to struggle as she sang the introduction, with her vocals fading out, but the trio recovered well, bringing the curtain down on this year's Preston Park performances. The group referenced their 'long journey', having started when they were around 12 years old in 1998 before splitting and then regaining the name Sugababes in 2019. Images of each of them as kids flickered up on screen accompanied by a voiceover describing their story so far. 'We found our way back to each other,' Buchanan said. They almost forgot to sing their 2025 single Shook, starting the intro for the next song before doubling back, admitting they are 'not used' to having it in the set. According to the BBC, roughly 300,000 people were in Brighton over the weekend. Many of the acts across the weekend have made sure to remind their audience that Pride started as protest, with some making reference to Gaza and also transgender rights being rolled back in the UK. Drag queen Tayris Mongardi, who performed at Brighton Pride this weekend, told the PA news agency that Pride is about being 'present and vocal' while also having a 'good bloody time'. She said that while living and working in the UK is 'privileged' compared to other countries, it is still important to remember 'what we're fighting for'. The performer said: 'Look, we're so blessed in so many ways to have the privileges we do here versus other countries and whatnot but really like it is a protest and you do have to remember not only its roots and where it's come from but what we're fighting for. 'Yes I might be queer and of colour but I have so many trans brothers and sisters, siblings and we're watching their rights actually being taken away – it's about being present, being vocal.' Ms Mongardi has performed at every Brighton Pride since 2017, excluding the pandemic year, and now feels like she is 'part of the furniture' at the event, and said that Pride is about community. She added: 'Protect trans lives, protect black lives, and have a good bloody time you know, we're all fighting, we're all trying to get through the place but have a good time while you're doing it right?'
