Outlander Blood of My Blood star's 'fantastic' war drama streaming for free
A wartime film is going to be arriving on BBC iPlayer very soon and is a must-watch for all film buffs, with two stars from the Outlander: Blood of My Blood cast, which has received strong praise from fans and plenty of Easter eggs from Outlander.
The film came out in 2011 and received a slew of Oscar nominations.
Many people have praised the movie on IMDb, with one person posting a 10/10 review titled: 'A Stunning and Enthralling Epic.'
They went on to explain: 'The film is uncompromisingly sentimental, and I wasn't annoyed by it. Because it worked so well, it made me care about the story, the characters, the horses.'
They added: 'There are a lot of powerful scenes in the movie, from which I cried. It was just so moving, it showed the true consequences of war. Some of the battle sequences were simply fantastic and astonishing.'
A second glowing review was titled: 'A truly exceptional film about courage in both man and beast.'
The user noted: 'This is a wonderful "against all odds" inspirational story about courage and relationships. A horse of truly amazing spirit touches the lives of so many during War I - including British soldiers, German soldiers, French civilians and even other horses.'
A third person hailed the blockbuster 'simply delightful' and said: 'I went to see this movie expecting NOT to like it. But, for 2 hours and 15 mins I was totally enthralled.'
One top-tier review explained: 'I was expecting this movie to be just another extravagant sentimental potboiler. Wow, was I surprised. This is a great movie. The title says the movie is about a horse, but it's really about a lot more than that. The horse plays a central role but the humans figure in the story too, in a big way.'
War Horse was directed by legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg, adapted from Michael Morpurgo's 1982 novel and its 2007 stage version of the same name.
The story follows teenager Albert Narracott (played by Jeremy Irvine), who forms a close bond with a horse he names Joey after his farmer father buys the creature at an auction.
However, at the onset of World War I, Joey is enlisted into the cavalry to help with the war effort.
War Horse follows Joey's journey through the trenches as he bears witness to the horrors of the conflict on both sides.
Initially, too young to join the army and be reunited with Joey, Albert eventually becomes a solider when he comes of age.
Featuring an all-star cast including Chernobyl's Emily Watson, Benedict Cumberbatch from Sherlock and Doctor Stranger, Harry Potter actor David Thewlis, fellow Outlander: Blood of My Blood star Peter Mullan, Tom Hiddleston from The Night Manager, Black Mirror's Toby Kebbell, Robert Emms from Atlantis and Ray Donovan actor Eddie Marsan, it's an unmissable film.
War Horse is led by Outlander: Blood of My Blood star Irvine, who plays time traveller and WWI veteran Henry Beauchamp in the new Starz series.
The Spielberg epic marked the actor's feature film debut at the age of 21 when he was selected out of hundreds of other hopefuls by the Hollywood director.
The Outlander prequel series premiered last week and fans can glimpse the star back in the trenches in the opening two episodes of Blood of My Blood.

It will be held at the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California with NFL star Travis's team, Kansas City Chiefs, tipped to contest it. During the New Heights podcast, Taylor referred to the number 47 — and eagle-eyed fans noted that her 47th show during The Eras Tour was at the Levi's Stadium. Taylor thanked Travis and his brother, fellow American football star Jason Kelce, for 'screaming for 47 seconds' — and joked she performed in '47,000 countries' on her recent global concert tour. Fans also believe Taylor's choice to announce her new album on a podcast dedicated largely to American football is a further pointer to her performing at the big game. Elsewhere a glass microphone sits on a shelf near a figurine of Travis in his Kansas City Chiefs kit. But perhaps the most telling clue is that Taylor was rumoured to have turned down offers to perform at the Super Bowl in order to focus on re-recording her first six albums. But on May 30, she announced she had won the battle to obtain the master recordings of them in a deal with Shamrock Capital. In a letter on her website she wrote: 'All of the music I've ever made . . . now belongs . . . to me.' 'Intoxicating' thriller dubbed a 'true classic of the genre' streaming for free
The film remains a popular choice with fans An "intoxicating" thriller that has been dubbed a "masterpiece" and a "true classic" will be available to stream for free. The Silence of the Lambs was released in 1991 and despite its older release, remains a popular choice with fans. Starring two time Academy Award winners Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins, the film follows FBI student Clarice Starling who is assigned to help on the search of a serial killer. She soon seeks the help of Dr Hannibal Lecter *the cannibal* who is held in a maximum security hospital. Dr Hannibal Lecter is a character created by American author Thomas Harris and has featured in the 1986 film Manhunter, but his appearance in The Silence of the Lambs is arguably the most famous adaptation. Both Hopkins and Foster bagged Oscar awards for their performances, with Hopkins scooping the Best Leading Actor award and Foster clinching the Best Leading Actress accolade at the 1992 ceremony. It also nabbed the coveted Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay awards. And the film remains a hit with fans with many describing it as a "masterpiece" and a timeless classic". The popular choice will be available to stream on BBC Two on Sunday evening (August 17), as well as BBC iPlayer. It is currently available to buy on prime Video. A synopsis reads: "FBI trainee Clarice Starling, enticing insights from confined killer Hannibal Lecter, shares her nightmare memory in the hope of stopping a serial killer before his latest victim dies. Multi-award-winning thriller." With an impressive score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, one person said: "A complete masterpiece throughout the ages." Another commented: "Definitely a classic. The film set new standards and is still very suspenseful and creepy even by today's standards." A third wrote: "One of the best movies of the 1990s if not all time. incredible story, amazing actors and a master class in film making." A fourth replied: "The Silence of the Lambs is an outstanding five-star thriller that completely pulled me in. Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster deliver unforgettable performances, making every scene intense and gripping. "The psychological tension, unsettling atmosphere, and smart storytelling kept me hooked from start to finish. It's a masterful film that left a lasting impression on me." Another praised: "Gritty, disgusting and suspenseful, it gets deep under your skin and makes you gag even after three decades. The undoubted highlight being Anthony Hopkins' performance." Writing for the Winnipeg Free Press, Paul McKie described it as: "The Silence of the Lambs is one of the most intoxicating and absorbing thrillers ever made." Directed by Jonathan Demme, the film also stars Scott Glen as well as Ted Levine and Anthony Heald. The Silence of the Lambs will be available to watch on BBC Two at 10pm on Sunday, August 17 before arriving on BBC iPlayer.
