This is how Dakota Johnson got away with wearing a naked dress in Cannes

Dakota Johnson knows how to wear a naked dress.
On Sunday, the star lit up the red carpet at the Kering Women in Motion Awards in Cannes in a glittering Gucci gown.
The semi-sheer slip dress could have challenged the film festival's newly-implemented naked dress ban, but lucky for Johnson, the ban only applies to the festival's official red carpets and as opposed to the surrounding soirees, leaving the star free to don the beaded crystal creation. The piece featured a sporty, halter-like neckline, as well as a fitted bodice and a see-through skirt.
The Fifty Shades of Grey star topped off the look with her hair pulled back in an effortless pony and sported soft, smoky eye make-up. She accessorised the dazzling dress with simple silver sandals and equally shiny, oversize snowflake-like Boucheron earrings.
Inside the awards event, which honoured Nicole Kidman, Johnson joined stars like Paul Mescal and Halle Berry, while stopping to embrace Charli XCX, who also went glam for the evening in a lilac Saint Laurent gown and matching feathered boa.
A fan of the naked dress, this isn't the first time Johnson—who stars alongside Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans in the highly-anticipated Materialists— has turned to Gucci for a glittering illusion gown.
Last year, Johnson wore a more revealing version of the naked dress for the 2024 premiere of Madame Web in Los Angeles. The loosely-netted crystal creation, mimicking that of a spider web in reference to her Marvel character, boasted a plunging neckline that slinked over the star's body, and an open back. Similar to her Cannes look, she styled the netted naked dress with simple sandals, but opted for a thin diamond choker necklace instead of statement earrings.

Dakota Johnson Realized This Outfit Mistake Mid-Interview — And Her Reaction Was Priceless

Houston, we have a fashion problem — and Dakota Johnson was at its epicenter. Appearing on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, Johnson experienced a wardrobe snafu that left little to the imagination. As she took her seat on set, the actor had a moment of sartorial reckoning — the kind no one hopes to have while on national television. 'This is the wrong outfit,' Johnson confessed to Fallon. 'I think it's perfect,' he replied with reassuring oblivion. As visible discomfort crept in, Johnson could be seen subtly — then not-so-subtly — adjusting her garment, clearly attempting to renegotiate peace with her stylistic decision. The little black number donned featured a plunging neckline that might have been visible from outer space. 'My eyes are up here,' she joked, expertly disarming the room with her wit. Though the conversation veered toward nostalgia — the pair reminiscing about their last encounter — Johnson's outfit remained the unspoken third guest. She repeatedly tugged at the fabric with the quiet desperation of someone determined to preserve both modesty and sanity. Leaning toward Fallon for solidarity, she asked if there was a 'problem' with the outfit — presumably fearing that America was on the verge of an accidental peep show. Maintaining an upright and composed posture, she did her best to outwit gravity. 'Does anyone have a blanket I could wear?' she joked, trying to ease the tension. Ever the improviser, Fallon handed her a napkin — a gesture noble in intent, if not in scale. Draped over her neckline, it resembled less garment and more a toddler's bib. Fallon, clearly torn between gallantry and aesthetic preservation, admitted he didn't want to 'ruin' her outfit. When Johnson eventually removed the napkin, she teasingly asked if he wanted to 'keep it.' Without missing a moment, Fallon replied that he planned to auction it on eBay. 'Growing Pains' Star Says Everyone Could ‘Tell Early on' That Leonardo DiCaprio Was ‘So Good'

Ashley Johnson is remembering her time with costar Leonardo DiCaprio on Growing Pains Johnson said that DiCaprio was 'so sweet' and it was immediately apparent that he was 'so good' Johnson played Chrissy Seaver in the last two seasons of the series, while DiCaprio joined for the final oneDid you feel Leonardo DiCaprio's greatness when he appeared on Growing Pains as a teenager? If so, then you're not alone. Ashley Johnson, who appeared on Growing Pains durings seasons 6 and 7 as youngest child Chrissy Seaver, opened up about her time on the series while appearing on Pod Meets World in an episode released on Monday, June 2. Johnson, 41, recalled how she first entered the entertainment industry when a talent scout came to her school looking to cast children for Star Search. She appeared on the show and sang 'Broadway Baby' at age 5. Not long after, she joined Growing Pains as Chrissy Seaver, who had been born in season 4 and was aged up from a toddler to age 5 when the actress was cast in the role. 'Every memory that I have from that is so good,' she said on the podcast. 'It really really is.' At the time, Johnson joined an established TV family that included Alan Thicke, Joanna Kerns, Kirk Cameron, Tracey Gold and Jeremy Miller. 'Everyone was so wonderful to me,' she said. 'They just took me in like I had been there.' She even called it 'a great start' to her now decades-long acting career. In the show's final season, the Seaver family added another child to the group — a homeless teen named Luke Brower, who was played by DiCaprio. At 16, he had just started his career, and Johnson thought he had already filmed 1993's This Boy's Life, his first breakout, but it hadn't been released yet. 'He was so good,' Johnson recalled. 'You could tell so early on... I just remember everyone was like, 'This kid is so good.' Like, he had it. We felt it. He was great.' 'He was a teenager, he was a kid, but I remember he was so sweet to me,' she added. Johnson said the last time she saw DiCaprio, 50, and her other costars was when Thicke died in 2016 at 69. 'He wad the greatest,' she said of her TV dad. 'I just remember I loved hugging him and just being around him.' Though the reunion was 'bad circumstances,' she said it was 'cool' to have 'adult conversations' with them for the first time. Frank Grillo Talks About Why His DC Character Has Been So Much More Fulfilling Than His Marvel Role Ever Was — GeekTyrant

Frank Grillo is one of the few in the club of those who have played characters in both the DC and Marvel Universes. He played Brock Rumlow, a.k.a. Crossbones, in the Marvel movies Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) and Captain America: Civil War (2016). He returned to voice the character in the series What If…? , and appeared in Avengers: Endgame . Though his appearance was brief, he's kept himself busy in other franchises, namely DC, and he's a lot happier with this arc over there than he ever was at Marvel. During a recent appearance on the Tulsa King panel at Fan Expo Dallas, moderated and hosted by ScreenRant, Grillo looked back on his time with the MCU, while sharing why he is having a better time being part of the DCU franchise. After discussing the MCU's Crossbones, Grillo explained what the upside is to playing a character like Flag Sr. in the DCU while working together with James Gunn: 'Rick Flag Sr... It was unfortunate because Crossbones isn't onscreen that much, and this is years ago. People love that character, and Marvel seems to have reused every other character except Crossbones. 'Now he's popping up in Spider-Man comics and Daredevil comics because he's a great villain, so I was expecting to have a lot of fun with it. But unfortunately, he perished kind of quickly. But I love working with James Gunn. ''I did the voice for Creature Commandos, and then I'm in Peacemaker, which is coming up in August. And before that, it's Superman with Rick Flag. So, it's different; it's more of an adventure than the Marvel stuff was.' Grillo's Flag Sr. makes his live-action debut with Superman in July, before returning in Peacemaker season 2.
