Countdown to Kickoff: Jack Stoll is the Saints Player of Day 88
With 88 days between now and the 2025 regular season opener for the New Orleans Saints. The Saints will host the Arizona Cardinals to kick off their 59th NFL season. Wearing No. 88 for New Orleans at this time is tight end Jack Stoll. An offseason addition by the team, Stoll is our Saints Player of the Day. Let's have a closer look at his background.
Name (age): Jack Stoll (27)

An all-state selection as a senior at Regis Jesuit High School in Colorado, Stoll was the nation's 9th-rated tight end and decided on Nebraska as his collegiate choice. After a redshirt year, Stoll caught eight passes as a little-used reserve in 2017. Over the next three years, he'd be a regular starter despite missing some time with injuries as a senior. Between 2018 and 2019, he'd have 46 catches for 279 yards and scored 4 times while exhibiting standout blocking skills for the Cornhuskers.
Philadelphia brought Stoll in as an undrafted rookie in 2021. He wouldn't contribute much as a receiver, just 4 catches and 22 yards, but still started five contests among 16 game appearances. Stoll's contributions as a blocker continued through 2022 and 2023. He caught 16 passes for 161 yards in those two seasons combined. However, he made 21 starts and played in all 34 games, appearing in around 45% of Philadelphia's offensive snaps.
New Saints head coach Kellen Moore took over as Philadelphia's offensive coordinator last season. Stoll played the year's first seven games under Moore, making two starts, before being waived just before midseason. He was picked up by the Miami Dolphins, where he played four games but caught no passes.
Over his four-year career, Stoll has played in 61 of a possible 68 games. He has 22 receptions for 193 yards and has yet to score a touchdown. Stoll will now have a chance to win a role as the blocking tight end for New Orleans. It's a role where he's performed well over his short career and where his best chance at a roster spot lies.

Surprising East Team Attempting to Make Major Trade With Spurs: Report
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The NBA offseason is almost in full swing, and many around the league expect this summer to be a wild one. Due to the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), now in place, there will be many teams looking to make some major moves. Teams are now being held to a higher standard with salaries, and front offices will need to be more careful in how they build rosters. The league has put more of an emphasis on drafting and developing players, putting the microscope directly on the upcoming NBA Draft. The 2025 draft class is seen as a strong one, with multiple All-Star caliber players at the top of the list. Duke star Cooper Flagg is likely to be taken No. 1 overall by the Dallas Mavericks, but the draft will really start at pick No. 2. That is currently owned by the San Antonio Spurs, but it seems that the team may be open to dealing the pick. According to NBA insider Michael Scotto, the Philadelphia 76ers are attempting to make a big move for the No. 2 pick. Philadelphia owns the No. 3 pick and could look to swap selections in what would be a big trade. Sources: The 76ers have engaged with the Spurs about potentially moving up to the No. 2 pick. For now, the Sixers have zeroed in on four NBA Draft prospects with the No. 3 pick, including a private workout last week with VJ Edgecombe and Ace Bailey visiting Philadelphia next week — Michael Scotto (@MikeAScotto) June 12, 2025 This article will be updated...

Tom Brady's statue to be unveiled by Patriots in August
The Patriots have another special day planned for Tom Brady in Foxboro. This time around, the team will unveil a 12-foot bronze statue of the quarterback as New England continues to honor its six-time Super Bowl champion. The Patriots will unveil the statue outside of the team's Hall of Fame at Patriot Place on Friday, August 8, 2025, the team announced Thursday. The ceremony will take place ahead of New England's preseason opener against the Washington Commanders at Gillette Stadium. The announcement was made on June 12 -- which the team considers "Tom Brady Day" -- exactly one year after the statue was initially announced at Brady's Patriots Hall of Fame induction. A legacy etched in bronze forever.@TomBrady's statue will be unveiled on 8/8 prior to Patriots vs. Commanders. — New England Patriots (@Patriots) June 12, 2025 The plan was to unveil the Brady statue last season. But given Brady's busy broadcasting schedule – which never brought him back to New England in 2024 – the ceremony was pushed back to 2025. It's finally happening in August, giving New England fans another way to remember and honor their GOAT. Brady was enshrined in the Patriots Hall of Fame last June during a special ceremony inside Gillette Stadium. Over 60,000 fans packed the home of the Patriots to honor Brady, which included plenty of former teammates -- and even former head coach Bill Belichick -- sharing the stage with Brady and telling stories from his incredible career. It was that night the Patriots retired Brady's No. 12 and announced plans for his statue. Brady, of course, completely changed the Patriots franchise when he took over at quarterback early in the 2001 season. The 2000 sixth-round pick replaced an injured Drew Bledsoe in Week 2, and the rest is history. He helped the Patriots win the franchise's first Super Bowl a few months later with a stunning 20-17 upset over the heavily favored St. Louis Rams. It started a run of three Super Bowl titles over four seasons, with Brady being named MVP of two of those championship games. Brady led the Patriots to three more Super Bowls (winning two more Super Bowl MVPs) and was NFL MVP three times over his 20-year career in New England. He added another Super Bowl title with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, bringing his career total to seven. Brady set Patriots franchise records with 219 regular season wins, 74,751 passing yards, and 541 passing touchdowns. He sits atop the NFL record books with 89,214 passing yards, 649 touchdown passes, and 251 regular-season wins. Brady retired after the 2022 season, and the Patriots waived the usual four-year waiting period to enshrine him in the team's Hall of Fame last summer. In a few months, there will be a giant bronze statue immortalizing the quarterback outside Gillette Stadium.

One player on the Eagles roster bubble at each offensive position following minicamp
One player on the Eagles roster bubble at each offensive position following minicamp We are examining one player on the Eagles' roster bubble at each offensive position following the offseason workout program and mandatory minicamp Philadelphia had one of the lightest off-season workloads following a Super Bowl 59 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in February. The Eagles had six OTA sessions over their nine-week workout program and finished the spring and early summer off with a one-day mandatory mini-camp with perfect attendance from all 90 players on the roster. Philadelphia is loaded at several key positions on offense, but reserve roles and tight end offer the most intense competitions. With the team on a five-week break until training camp, we're looking at one player on the roster bubble at each offensive position. QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson The Eagles acquired the former UCLA star in a trade that sent Kenny Pickett to Cleveland. Thompson-Robinson offered elite athleticism at the position when analyzing the move. Fast-forward a few weeks, and Philadelphia drafted former Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord in the sixth round. The former St. Joe's Prep star displayed a strong arm during the OTAs and clearly leapfrogged Thompson-Robinson on the depth chart. Philadelphia will carry four quarterbacks throughout the summer, but Roseman drafted McCord, and he fits what the Eagles do with the deep ball. RB Lew Nichols Philadelphia will enter training camp with seven running backs on the depth chart after adding two talented undrafted free agents at the position, and they are stacked in the top three of the depth chart. Nichols spent time with Philadelphia during Training Camp and the preseason in 2024 and returned to the practice squad following the regular season with a reserve/futures deal. Nichols (5-10, 220 pounds) rushed for 3,061 yards, added 575 receiving yards, and scored 29 total touchdowns in 32 games at Central Michigan. He was the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2021, but looks to be one of four ball carriers who could be released. WR Elijah Cooks Philadelphia has 12 players on the roster at the wide receiver position, and Cooks initially finds himself behind two top-ten players, two 2024 draft picks, Jahan Dotson and Terrace Marshall. Add in Danny Gray having a strong off-season, and it's an uphill battle for Cooks, Giles Jackson, Taylor Morin, and Darius Cooper. Cooks signed with the Eagles' practice squad on Jan. 14 after spending most of the 2024 season on the Jaguars' practice squad. The 26-year-old wideout will be on Philadelphia's 90-man roster for the start of the new league year, which allowed him to participate in OTAs, minicamps, and training camps. TE Nick Muse With Dallas Goedert officially returning, an intriguing training camp battle is down to the third spot on the depth chart. Grant Calcaterra is the clear No. 2 guy, while Muse, Cameron Latu, E.J. Jenkins, Kylen Granson, and Harrison Bryant will compete for the third spot. Muse did not see any game action with the Eagles last postseason after being signed to the practice squad on Jan. 22. OL Brett Toth Philadelphia added three offensive linemen in the NFL draft and has been stocking up on depth pieces like Kendall Lamm and Matt Pryor all offseason. Laekin Vakalahi will make the team as the International Pathway representative, leaving the veteran Toth to battle with veterans Darian Kinnard, second-year player Trevor Keegan, and undrafted rookie Marcus Tate.
