Some devoted perfume fans say Alien Goddess beats the original purple icon it is based on.
Spritzing perfume before we leave the house is a daily must for many of us. With so many scents to choose from these days, it can be hard to find one that truly stands out.
Instead of wading through all of the bottles available, we have found one that is said "smell like nothing else". It's Thierry Mugler's Alien Goddess, and it's officially on offer at Boots with a huge 50 percent price cut.
The health and beauty chain has been offering some unmissable deals on designer branded perfumes lately, some being the cheapest they can be bought for, with a 60ml of this one now reduced from £97 to just £48.50.
Launched by Mugler in 2021 as a reimagining of the iconic Alien perfume the luxury brand is famed for, Goddess is said to offer a lighter, sweeter fragrance profile that is no less "distinctive."
This amber floral perfume combines three olfactory "revelations" to create a scent that "mesmerises the senses", opening with a Radiant revelation of sparkling Italian Bergamot essence that recalls the first rays if sunlight and the positive energy of the solar goddess.

For beauty fans impressed with the bold notes of this interpretation of Alien, then a similar alternative is Giorgio Armani's My Way Intense, with a 30ml costing £75 at popular retailer The Perfume Shop.
Another highly distinctive scent on the market is the beloved YSL Black Opium Le Parfum, which offers a more vanilla-heavy scent compared to the iconic original, with a 50ml at its cheapest price at Boots for £57.50, down from £115.

Beauty deal of the week
Looking to upgrade your straighteners, then look no further than this Amazon deal we have spotted.
The Remington Advanced Coconut Therapy Hair Straightener, which has been hailed as "better than ghd", is now on offer for a staggering 75 percent less, as it is has been dropped from £139.99 to just £34.90.
To help keep hair soft and shiny with each use, the floating ceramic plates feature micro-conditioners that have been infused with coconut oil and UV filters, keeping tresses protected from any frizz caused by too much heat.
Its salon-style design means it comes complete with an ultra-fast 15-second heat up time and five digital temperature controls up to 230C, while the rounded barrel design with a swivel cord makes it easy to create either a sleek straight or bouncy curls look.
There's also an integrated sensor that kicks in when the plates come into contact with the hair, ensuring they never overheat, while plate lock and auto-shut off function offers peace of mind and safety.
Considering Remington's status for hair tools, it's no surprise to hear that this coconut-infused straightener has been singled out as an 'Amazon Choice' product, with a glowing 4.4 rating based on over 1,000 reviews from happy purchasers.
One beauty fan praised: "Better than ghds. What can I say I have used GHDs for the last 20 years? My last pair broke yesterday so after some research I thought I would try these Remington's.
"I can't believe how straight my hair is gone, not even my GHD's got it this straight. Amazing straighteners on would recommend to anybody, I have thick course hair and look how smooth it looks."
Someone else remarked: "It has very interesting fragrance which I really like. It is long lasting and unique scent that reminds me of nice evening in tropical Island: fresh and warm at the same time."
However, some fans of the original aren't keen on the lighter scent, as one wrote: "I like a perfume to be strong, I love Angel & Alien. This is quite delicate. Not for me."
Although, someone else who was delighted with perfume wrote: "The scent is just divine! I thought my favourite was the purple, but this one....just wow! Lasts so long as well."
Perfume fans can bag a 60ml bottle of Mugler Alien Goddess for £48.50, down from £97, at Boots now.

Anne Hegerty of 'The Chase' uninterested in relationships after wedding snub

The TV star is a regular on the showbiz circuit and admits that she's not one for romantic relationships There's no one quite like Anne Hegerty. A quiz champion on The Chase since 2010 and a memorable participant in the jungle in 2018, the 67-year-old, who was diagnosed with autism in her mid-40s, is unashamedly herself. ‌ Just last month, Anne, who boasts an estimated net worth of £3.2 million, shed light on the payment structure for the Chasers on the hit quiz show, explaining there's no fixed salary involved and their earnings are not guaranteed. ‌ Now, the sharp-witted and refreshingly candid TV personality has chatted to OK! Magazine about her disinterest in romance, her bone of contention with former jungle campmate Nick Knowles, and an ambition she's yet to fulfil. ‌ On being comfortable in her own company, Anne told OK: "Even at showbiz events, I need to take time out if it's very noisy. I need to chill for a bit, alone. I know many people like that. "People keep inviting me to things and I think, 'Are you lonely?' So many people have tons of friends and have to have them around all the time." ‌ Asked if she'd like someone special to share her life with, Anne answered frankly: "No, I really wouldn't. "I used to, but I realised I was wanting to want it rather than genuinely wanting a romantic relationship. "I don't even want pets. I've got pot plants and I mind when they die, but no, I'm very happy in my own company. I'm just fine." ‌ Anne said she keeps in touch with her old I'm A Celebrity campmates here and there, but that a special occasion concerning Nick Knowles prompted the reality TV show line-up from six years ago to reconnect. "We've still got our WhatsApp group," Anne revealed. "It's not very active, but I did post on there recently. I saw in the papers that Nick Knowles had got married. I didn't get an invite, but I'm not bitter – much! ‌ "I posted my congrats on the group and everyone else did the same. If I meet any of them out and about, it's always big catch-ups and hugs." So, with one reality TV show having been ticked off the list, could she be tempted to get her dancing shows on for another? A certain Strictly Come Dancing perhaps? "My agent tried to get me to do it ages ago, but I couldn't even formulate the words to say, 'I think this is a bloody terrible idea.' I can't dance to save my life. "When I'm in panto, you can make me sing a bit but, whatever you do, don't make me dance." Anne does harbour one burning ambition, though, admitting: "I would love to do a bit of acting. I'd love a chance to do a comedy role. I do love being funny."

Meghan Markle 'warned' after being 'called out' by A-lister as she calculates next move

Meghan has been warned after a big name appeared to call out the Duchess of Sussex in a recent interview Meghan Markle has reportedly been "warned" after she was "called out" by an A-lister in a media interview recently. The Duchess of Sussex has been cautioned not to "challenge" Martha Stewart, who is a household name in the US. ‌ The caution follows the Hollywood star's apparent critique of the 43-year-old in a recent interview. Meghan's Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, and her brand, As Ever, have both received mixed responses. ‌ Last month, it was announced that the ex-actress would be filming a second series of her recent Netflix programme where she bakes and cooks from scratch, as well as creates homemade items like candles and bath salts. ‌ Martha, 83, an entrepreneur, TV personality, and lifestyle guru, wasn't afraid to ruffle some feathers while admitting to Yahoo Lifestyle that she hopes Meghan "knows what she's talking about" while questioning her "authenticity." "Meghan, I don't really know very well," Martha told the outlet when asked how she felt about public figures building lifestyle brands. "I hope she knows what she's talking about." ‌ She went on: "Authenticity, to me, is everything, and to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important." Speaking on Talk TV, Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield advised Meghan against confronting the TV titan. "This is a tough cookie," she said. "You don't go head-to-head with Martha Stewart. You don't challenge her. ‌ "If Martha is critical of Meghan, she has to sit back and take it because not only has Martha built her own brand from the ground up, she's lived through so many tough experiences." Martha didn't appear to have a problem with Gwyneth Paltrow, actress-turned-lifestyle guru, though, who launched her wellness and lifestyle brand, Goop, as a homespun weekly newsletter from her kitchen in 2008. ‌ "Gwyneth has been very successful," she said of the Goop founder. "She created quite an interesting body of businesses. She's admired. She won an Oscar for heaven's sake as an actress! She's pretty powerful." Seeming unfazed by the competition, she added: "I don't mind. Good luck." It comes amid reports that to Meghan Markle now that she's landed a loftier title, according to a friend. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Sophie, formerly the Countess of Wessex, secured the promotion when her husband, Prince Edward, was bestowed with his own new title to allow her to enjoy the prestigious name of Duchess of Edinburgh. Prior to this, Meghan, as the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry's wife, would have been higher in rank, meaning that royal protocol stipulated that Sophie had to curtsey to her at royal events. The royal, whose husband is the youngest child of the late Queen Elizabeth II, was reportedly "relieved" that she "no longer" had to abide by this particularly strict tradition, a friend of hers told reporters.

Patrick Kielty 'in dark place' if fears over Cat Deeley moving back to US come true

Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley announced this week they are to split after 13 years of marriage Insiders have expressed concern that Patrick Kielty could be "in a very dark place" if his ex-wife Cat Deeley decides to return to the US with their children. ‌ The couple, who were married for 13 years, announced their separation this week, causing shockwaves and concern among their close circles. ‌ Residents in Dundrum, County Down - Patrick's hometown - have voiced their worry for the 54 year old star, who tied the knot with Cat in Rome back in September 2012. ‌ Those close to Patrick, father of two children with Cat, fear he would be heartbroken if his former spouse returns to the US, where they previously resided. An insider revealed: "Everyone is worried about Paddy. The fear is that Cat will go back to America with the little ones. That will leave him in a very dark place," reports the Mirror. ‌ Cat took over presenting duties on ITV's This Morning last year alongside Ben Shephard, following the departures of Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby. However, since confirming her split from Patrick, it has come to light that 48 year old Cat found the transition back to the UK challenging. There are growing concerns that Cat, who began her career hosting SMTV Live on Saturday mornings, might quit her role at ITV and head back to the US. ‌ Television insiders told Mail Online: "Cat's time on This Morning has not been a failure, but it has hardly been a roaring success. "It is a job which puts her under so much scrutiny, day-in and day-out, and unlike most British presenters she has plenty more lucrative options to choose from in the States... there is concern that all of this family drama could lead her to walk away." ‌ Cat and Patrick, a comedian and TV host, resided in Los Angeles for over 14 years, where Cat hosted the reality TV show, So You Think You Can Dance. They returned to the UK and Cat promptly began on This Morning, believed to be one of several ITV daytime shows facing budget cuts. The broadcaster recently unveiled plans for a revamp, including reducing Lorraine by 30 minutes and discontinuing it entirely during school holidays from January. It's thought that This Morning will relocate from its White City base in west London to a smaller, less expensive studio in central London. Cat has been candid about her struggles adjusting to the 5am starts for the four days a week she presents This Morning, revealing that it resulted in her and Patrick sleeping in separate beds most nights. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Last September, Patrick, who presents The Late Late Show which is recorded in Dublin, dismissed suggestions that the couple were finding it hard to make time for each other. Patrick and Cat announced their split in a joint statement to the PA News agency which read: "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected."
