'I'm not planning to finish my Wimbledon career today," said the 38-year-old Djokovic. 'I'm planning to come back definitely — at least one more time."
Djokovic's 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 loss to World No. 1 Sinner at Centre Court brought his hopes and dreams of equalling Roger Federer's record of eight Wimbledon titles and a record-setting 25th Grand Slam crown to an abrupt end.
The defeat came just two days after the World No. 6 suffered what he called a 'nasty" and 'awkward" fall late in his quarterfinal match, which appeared to limit his movement during the semifinal.
'I don't want to talk in detail about my injury and just whine about not managing to play my best," Djokovic said. 'I do feel disappointed that I just wasn't able to move as well as I thought or hoped that I would."
Since then, it's been a rocky road for the Serbian.
At the 2024 Australian Open, he lost to Sinner. At the French Open, he was forced to withdraw before the quarterfinals due to a torn meniscus in his right knee, which required surgery. Then, in the 2023 Wimbledon final, he fell to Alcaraz — his second straight loss in a final to the young Spaniard.
This year, Djokovic has exited in the semifinals of all three majors. He retired after one set at the Australian Open due to a torn hamstring, lost to Sinner at Roland-Garros, and again at Wimbledon.

US Open announces stellar cast for mixed doubles
New York, July 30 (UNI) The US Open has confirmed 14 of the pairings that will compete for $1m (£749,077) in next month's controversial mixed doubles event. Organisers were heavily criticised in February after announcing that the mixed doubles competition would be a standalone event on August 19-20 - before the hard court Grand Slam begins on August 24. Divya, 19, arrived from Batumi, Georgia, where she defeated Indian stalwart Koneru Humpy in the Women's World Cup title showdown, to clinch the biggest title in her fledgling career. Divya overcame the 38-year-old Humpy in the tie-breaker after two classical games ended in draws. Divya had entered the tournament as an underdog aiming to achieve a GM-norm but returned home with the Grandmaster title, besides securing a spot in the Candidates and becoming richer by USD 50,000. 'I am feeling very happy that so many people have come to felicitate me, and chess is getting the recognition," said Divya, who flew from Batumi to Mumbai and then took a flight to her hometown Nagpur, accompanied by her mother. Divya received a grand reception in Nagpur, with her relatives and fans arriving much in advance to receive her. 'My parents have played the biggest role in my career. Without them I would not have reached here. Credit to my family, my parents, my sister, and my first coach, Rahul Joshi sir. He always wanted me to become the Grandmaster, and this is for him," said Divya, about Joshi, who passed away in 2020 at just 40 years of age.
