Naagin, flavour-forward food brand, has raised INR 18 crores in a pre-Series A round led by 360 ONE Asset. Existing investor 8i participated for the third time, joined by a collective of 12 new and returning angel investors.
The funds will be used to scale operations, including factory and team expansion, R&D, and marketing, while driving growth across B2B, eCommerce, and D2C channels.
"We aligned with 360 ONE instantly on our bold vision for the future. They've been very supportive from the get-go, and we are excited to continue our journey to create products people truly love," said Mikhel Rajani, Co-founder of Naagin. "We aim to become the go-to flavour provider for HORECA brands in India and expand globally to put Indian hot sauce on the world map."
Founded in 2019 by Mikhel Rajani, Arjun Rastogi, and Kshitij Neelakantan, Naagin was born out of a shared frustration: the global absence of Indian flavours. Their solution was simple yet revolutionary—craft Indian hot sauces using regional chillies and culinary inspirations from across the country. Today, the brand offers a vibrant range of sauces, oils, and chilli flakes made from chillies like Bhut Jolokia, Sankeshwari, and Kanthari.
Naagin has become a category disruptor, now present in over 700 premium retail stores and distributed internationally via platforms like Amazon, Walmart, and Carrefour. Known for its viral collaborations like Bhoot Chips with Too Yumm!, the brand's spicy innovations continue to capture the imagination of Indian and global consumers alike.
"Naagin isn't simply bottling heat, it's distilling India's rich chilli heritage into a fresh, addictive flavour experience that belongs on tables from Mumbai to Brooklyn. Their relentless focus on craft, clean ingredients, and punchy brand storytelling positions them to redefine the global hot-sauce aisle, and we're fired up to help fuel that journey," said Abhishek Nag, Head of Early Stage VC at 360 ONE Asset.
With blockchain-enabled traceability, plastic-neutral practices, and direct farmer partnerships, Naagin merges sustainability with spice. This funding round highlights investor confidence in the brand's differentiated, chef-crafted offerings and its ambitious mission to make Indian flavours global icons.

Viatris (VTRS) Faces Securities Fraud Class Action Over FDA Inspection Fallout

On May 31, 2025, Viatris Inc. (NASDAQ:VTRS) became the subject of a securities fraud class action lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. The suit alleges that between August 8, 2024, and February 26, 2025, the company and certain executives made materially false or misleading statements regarding the operational status of its Indore, India manufacturing facility. Ralf Kleemann/ The complaint centers on Viatris' public assurances that its facilities were in "good operating condition" and committed to "the highest quality manufacturing standards." However, following a failed inspection, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a Warning Letter and Import Alert in December 2024 that affected 11 products, including the cancer drug Lenalidomide. On February 27, 2025, Viatris (NASDAQ:VTRS) disclosed that the inspection issues would negatively impact 2025 revenue by roughly $500 million and earnings from operations by about $385 million. This revelation led to a 15% drop in Viatris' stock price, from $11.24 to $9.53 per share. Investors who purchased Viatris securities during the specified period have until June 3, 2025, to seek appointment as lead plaintiff in the lawsuit. Nandan Nilekani Increases Support to AI4Bharat with Total Grant of INR 70 Crore

In a statement, Nilekani said AI4Bharat is creating essential language infrastructure that enables Indian citizens to access digital services in their native languages You're reading Entrepreneur India, an international franchise of Entrepreneur Media. Infosys Co-founder and Chairman Nandan Nilekani has committed an additional multi-year grant to AI4Bharat, a public-focused artificial intelligence (AI) initiative at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, bringing his total funding to INR 70 crore. The announcement was made by the EkStep Foundation, which supports digital infrastructure and learning initiatives. AI4Bharat works on building foundational AI models aimed at improving accessibility to digital services in India's 22 scheduled languages. The initiative has focused on developing speech and translation datasets, including the collection of 15,000 hours of transcribed speech from over 400 districts and the creation of a bilingual corpus comprising 2.2 million translation pairs. These are curated by a team of more than 100 language experts. The latest funding comes directly from Nilekani and follows his earlier contribution in 2022, which led to the establishment of the Nilekani Centre at AI4Bharat. The initiative's models have been released as open-source public goods and are hosted on AI4Bharat's platform and AIKosh, India's open AI repository. In a statement, Nilekani said AI4Bharat is creating essential language infrastructure that enables Indian citizens to access digital services in their native languages. He also remarked on India's potential to emerge as a global leader in AI applications by leveraging its existing digital public infrastructure. Since the global release of ChatGPT in 2022, AI4Bharat's language models have seen increased adoption across sectors. These models are now integrated into tools for regional language chatbots, as well as education and governance platforms. AI4Bharat's work forms the language layer of India's AI stack and is used in Bhashini, the national language translation initiative under the IndiaAI Mission. Bhashini supports multilingual digital access in public service areas such as healthcare, finance, and governance, utilising AI4Bharat's open models in speech recognition, machine translation, and text-to-speech technologies. The project continues to operate within an open-source framework, contributing data and tools intended for public use in India's evolving AI ecosystem.

UK and India discuss 'counter-terrorism' cooperation after Pakistan ceasefire

By Krishna N. Das NEW DELHI (Reuters) -Britain and India on Saturday discussed expanding their "counter-terrorism" collaboration following recent fighting between India and Pakistan, Britain's foreign minister told Reuters after meeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. British foreign minister David Lammy is the highest-profile Western official to have visited both New Delhi and Islamabad since the South Asian neighbours agreed to a ceasefire last month after their worst fighting in nearly three decades. The latest tensions began in April after the killing of 26 men in Indian Kashmir that New Delhi blamed on "terrorists" backed by Pakistan, a charge Islamabad denied. India then attacked what it called "terrorist infrastructure" in Pakistan, leading to escalation from both sides until a May 10 ceasefire. "We want the situation to be maintained, but of course we recognise fragility, particularly in the backdrop of terrorism, terrorism designed to destabilise India," Lammy said in an interview at the residence of the British High Commissioner in New Delhi. "We are keen to continue to work with our Indian partners on counter-terrorism measures." He said he discussed the next steps with both Modi and Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, but gave no specifics. Last year, India and Britain discussed combating the financing of terrorism, cooperation between law enforcement and judicial bodies and information sharing. Lammy said he also discussed boosting trade between the world's fifth and sixth largest economies. The countries concluded talks for a free trade deal early last month. "I know that Prime Minister Keir Starmer is very much looking forward to coming to India very soon to sign the free trade agreement," Lammy said. "There is so much that our two nations can continue to do together."
