Of Course Blade's ‘Marvel Rivals' Debut Brings the Techno Beats

Gizmodoa day ago
Now that Marvel Rivals is on a monthly cycle of adding heroes to the game, while the flames of the Phoenix are still burning, we're just about ready for the game's next character to step into the spotlight in the form of Blade. And in true style, Eric is bringing some killer tunes with his debut.
Ahead of next week's mid-season update for Marvel Rivals, NetEase has dropped a new gameplay trailer to debut Blade's abilities. Arriving as another duelist, Blade is bringing a mix of melee and ranged skills to the battlefield (including what looks like not just a vampiric lifesteal form for Blade, but also a hint of Rivals' first healing-suppressing ability, presumably to try and counter the game's powerful supporting strategists).
But aside from the slicing and dicing, it's also fun to see Rivals nod to Blade's cinematic history here too: it's not quite the exact track, but opening with a riff on the infamous soundtrack of Blade's opening sequence in the vampire dance club is a perfectly knowing nod. Who knows, maybe we'll see a Wesley Snipes-inspired costume for Blade when he arrives next week?
Blade's been a long time coming for Rivals—he was first teased in the game's mishmash of Marvel lore way back at the start of the year during Rivals' first season as having been imprisoned by Dracula. A sneaky map appearance the season after only had fans even more eager for him to enter the battle, so there's a lot for the character to live up to when he joins Rivals in its season 3.5 update next week on August 8. Alongside Blade, the new updates will also include tweaks and improvements to Rivals moderation and chat filter tools in an attempt to quell toxic behavior in-game. Fingers crossed they work better than trying to ice-skate uphill in front of Blade.

Today's Wordle #1504 Hints And Answer For Friday, August 1st

Looking for Thursday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: How To Solve Today's Wordle It's August and it sort of feels like the world is hurtling toward a very bad time. Maybe I should say, A Very Bad Time for emphasis. The AI-apocalypse is upon us, and I'm not sure what that means for me, for the internet as we know, for all sorts of industries. Add to that the general instability in politics and global economics, the various wars, acts of terror and violence and...I'd just really like to travel back in time to the 90s and put a kibosh on the whole thing. Nothing faster than dial-up internet. No smart-phones. Hell, maybe just analog-only when it comes to technology. I don't mean to be all doom and gloom, but I'm genuinely concerned at this point. If AI kills the internet, I'll have to find a new line of work. Not looking forward to starting all over at 44, to be honest. But enough of that. It's 2XP Friday and we have a Wordle to solve. Let's solve it. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer: Use these clues to narrow down your guesses. Every day brings a new word, and everyone around the world is trying to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot or even against me, your humble narrator. See rules for Competitive Wordle toward the end of this post. Today's Wordle Hints And Answer Wordle Bot's Starting Word: SLATE My Starting Word Today: CHAIR (92 words remaining) The Hint: Stringed instrument. The Clue: This Wordle ends in a vowel. Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming! . . . Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. CHAIR was a really good starting word, leaving me with just 92 remaining solutions and two yellow boxes. I tried juggling these with ANGEL but that only slashed the solutions down to 27. NASTY wasn't much better, leaving me with 6. Talk about blowing all my luck. MANOR left me with just two, but I only came up with BANJO. Thank goodness. If the answer had been PANKO it would have taken me six tries! The Bot beat me by one point in July. We start over fresh in August, but I'm off to a rough start. I lose 1 point for guessing in 5 and 1 point for losing to the Bot. That's -2 x 2 = -4 points! The Bot gets 1 point for beating me and 0 for guessing in four, for a total of 2 points. Not how I wanted to start things out this month. Erik: -4 points Wordle Bot: 2 points The Bot wins this month, though just barely. On Friday, we'll start over at zero. Oh well. The word "banjo" likely comes from "banja" or "bania", terms used by enslaved Africans in the Caribbean and North America to describe similar stringed instruments of African origin. Its exact linguistic roots are uncertain, but it may derive from a West African language, possibly Mandinka or Kimbundu. The instrument itself evolved in the Americas, blending African design with European influence. The term was first recorded in English in the mid-18th century. All the news from Nintendo's July 2025 Direct showcase See all Stories Posted Jul 31, 2025 at 1:47 PM UTC It's always sunny in Philabieldia. Square Enix closed out today's Nintendo Switch 2 partner showcase with a game that features names liable to send you into fits of confused laughter. Launching next year, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is an HD-2D action RPG with a silly but acceptable name. (Elliot? Really?) But Philabieldia, the name for where the story takes place, is truly one of the most ridiculous fantasy names I've ever heard. Philabieldia, wow. You know what, I'm in. The ridiculous name signals to me this is the exact kind of high-fantasy, low-stakes silliness I enjoy in not- Final Fantasy Square Enix games.
