Will release Kishau waters only after receiving pending arrears: Himachal CM
Chief minister (CM) Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday reasserted that the state government will release Kishau waters only after receiving pending arrears of BBMB from neighbouring states.
He was addressing a public gathering under the 'Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar' programme at Dehuri in Banjar development block of Kullu district on Wednesday.
'I went to Delhi on demands of Himachal people . We will give water to Delhi and Haryana, but first they should give the BBMB arrears pending for 14 years to Himachal. I have clearly said that first the neighbouring states should file an affidavit in the Supreme Court to pay this arrear, only then we will move forward with releasing water from the Kishau dam,' said Sukhu.
The CM also announced to open Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School based on CBSE and a milk processing unit with capacity of 10,000 liters in Banjar.
Sukhu hits out at BJP, saying, 'Those who had already been accused of corruption were making false allegations against the present state government to mislead the people of the state. Today they had become the policy makers of the BJP (referring to Congress leaders who switched over to BJP) but first they should look into their own affairs'.
Blaming BJP's former chief minister for decline in education level, Sukhu said, 'Former CM Jai Ram Thakur looted the wealth of the people of the state and distributed electoral freebies worth ₹5,000 crores to win the assembly elections. He opened new institutions but cheated the people of the state by not providing staff and proper facilities.'
Talking of steps taken by Congress, the CM said, 'We are not opening new educational institutions, but appointing teachers in schools and providing facilities so that children in rural areas can get better education environment. We created directorate of school education from classes 1 to 12, started English medium classes and will make extensive reforms in the field of education in the coming time.'
CM Sukhu also inaugurated and laid foundation stones of various development projects worth ₹78.47 crore in Dehuri. The CM inaugurated seven projects, including ₹7.32 crore Banjar bye-pass along with a bridge in Banjar tehsil, ₹1.38 crore Manglour bridge on NH 305.

‘100 More Operation Sindoors If Needed': India's All-Party Delegation Delivers Blunt Message To US Lawmakers On Pak-backed Terrorism
Washington D.C./New Delhi: In a rare show of cross-party unity abroad, an Indian all-party parliamentary delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has set the diplomatic stage on fire during its US visit – defending India's military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 innocent civilians and directly accusing Pakistan of being a repeat offender in using terrorism as an instrument of state policy. Under the banner of Operation Sindoor, the trip is fast turning into one of the most forceful Indian diplomatic offensives in recent years. Tharoor, who called the meeting with US Vice President JD Vance 'excellent', said that the American vice president not only supported India's position on the Pahalgam terror attack but also acknowledged India's 'right to respond'. 'We had a wonderful meeting with Vice President Vance. He was warm and welcoming, had warm memories of his visit to India, totally supportive of our stand on Pahalgam and the aftermath and accepting our right to respond as we did… Very positive vibes throughout the meeting,' he posted on X (formerly Twitter) after the interaction. The operation culminated in a ceasefire agreement on May 10 after Indian forces neutralised Pakistan's attempts at escalation by striking its airbases. (With ANI inputs)

PM ‘Bhagirath of modern India', behind Namami Gange success: UP CM
1 2 Ayodhya : Describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the 'Bhagirath of modern India', Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath credited him for the success of the Namami Gange campaign. Speaking in Ayodhya at events to mark World Environment Day on Thursday, the CM said that before 2014, the Ganga was "severely polluted due to the unplanned and unscientific activities of previous govts". The Namami Gange project, launched in 2014, resulted in the river regaining its purity and uninterrupted flow, something witnessed by over 66 crore devotees who visited the Prayagraj Mahakumbh this year, he said. The CM also planted a sapling at the Chaudhary Charan Singh Pushp Vatika and congratulated people on the occasion of Ganga Dussehra, Saryu Mahotsav, and World Environment Day. Elaborating on the historical, cultural, and environmental importance of Ayodhya, Yogi spoke about the efforts to revive the Saryu river and said that rivers were the foundation of Mother Earth, and protecting them was essential to safeguarding the environment, wildlife, and human life. "Lord Ram mentioned the name of Saryu while speaking about Ayodhya. Saryu is the soul of Ayodhya, and it is every citizen's responsibility to protect and preserve it," he said. Wishing people on Ganga Dussehra, the CM spoke about the descent of Ganga onto Earth after the penance of Lord Bhagirath. Ganga was not only a source of spiritual liberation and material well-being but also the reason behind the agricultural richness of India and the world. He also said that this year's tree plantation drive in the state would be linked with rivers, and large-scale plantation drives would be carried out along riverbanks. This year, he said, 35 crore saplings would be planted along rivers. Plantation would also be undertaken along highways and expressways. Highlighting the surge in tourists coming to the city, he said: "Where earlier the number of devotees barely crossed a few lakh, Ayodhya welcomed over 16 crore pilgrims last year alone. Key development works that have taken place here include an international airport, beautification of temples and monasteries, and the expansion of Ram Ki Paidi, now graced by the clean, free-flowing waters of the Saryu. Trump vs Musk feud erupts with Epstein bomb and SpaceX threat
Elon Musk and President Donald Trump's months-long alliance imploded on Thursday. Once close allies are now locked in a heated public feud. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO has announced the retirement of SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft, hours after Trump threatened to cancel government contracts tied to Musk's rift erupted over Musk's criticism of Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill." It quickly escalated into a political standoff, with both men trading sharp jabs and accusations. Musk accused President Donald Trump of being named in the sealed Jeffrey Epstein files -- claiming that's the "real reason" they've never been fully trouble between the two built up over the week. On Tuesday, Musk began denouncing Trump's sweeping tax-cut and spending bill. The president held his tongue while Musk, his former adviser, campaigned to torpedo the bill, saying it would add too much to the nation's $36.2 trillion in HOW MUSK VS TRUMP MELTDOWN UNFOLDED During a press briefing with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Trump said, 'I'm very disappointed in Elon. I've helped Elon a lot.' He suggested Musk was upset because the EV tax incentive was removed from the bill and questioned whether their friendship would continue. advertisement Calling out the legislative process behind Trump's bill, Musk tweeted: 'False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!' In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: 'The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon's Governmental Subsidies and Contracts,' adding, 'I was always surprised that Biden didn't do it!' Following Trump's threat to revoke federal support, Musk announced the shutdown of a major space program. 'In light of the President's statement about cancellation of my government contracts, SpaceX will begin decommissioning its Dragon spacecraft immediately," he posted. On Truth social, he wrote: "I don't mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago. This is one of the Greatest Bills ever presented to Congress. It's a Record Cut in Expenses, $1.6 Trillion Dollars, and the Biggest Tax Cut ever given. If this Bill doesn't pass, there will be a 68% Tax Increase, and things far worse than that. I didn't create this mess, I'm just here to FIX IT. This puts our Country on a Path of Greatness. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" advertisement
