‘The pallu is on ozempic', say netizens as supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio struts down the runway in a Manish Malhotra sari at India Couture Week

India Couture Week 2025 is turning out to be one of the most unforgettable fashion moments of the year, and not just because of the clothes. The runway saw an exciting blend of international glamour and Indian tradition when Alessandra Ambrosio, former Victoria's Secret Angel, walked for Manish Malhotra on July 26.
It was Alessandra's first-ever runway appearance in India, and naturally, Malhotra made sure her debut was nothing short of iconic.
The Brazilian supermodel strutted down the ramp in two breathtaking looks from Malhotra's collection. First up was a shimmering silver outfit that blurred the lines between traditional Indian wear and high-fashion glam. She wore a mermaid-style lehenga with a fitted waist, a crystal-studded blouse featuring a plunging neckline, and a dainty dupatta (more like strings, if you ask us) delicately draped over the shoulder, attached at the waist to give it a modern twist. She styled the look with statement diamonds, including a necklace, matching earrings, rings, and a haath phool.
Netizens had mixed reactions about her looks on Instagram. One wrote, 'The pallu is on ozempic'. Another said, 'Rage bait cause Priyanka in desi girl is still numero uno.'

Her second outfit was equally mesmerising: a strapless silver bustier with a peplum cut, paired with an A-line lehenga drenched in pearls and crystals. A ruby and diamond choker, matching earrings, and a mang tika added the perfect regal touch. For both looks, Alessandra kept her hair sleek in a twisted bun, allowing the clothes and jewellery to take centre stage.
The show didn't just stop at couture, it paid tribute to Bollywood fashion through the decades. Manish Malhotra showcased some of his most iconic designs, like Priyanka Chopra's 'Desi Girl' sari and Kajol's green lehenga from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, stirring a wave of nostalgia among the audience.

If Alessandra brought international charm to the stage, Akshay Kumar brought back old-school Bollywood royalty. The actor made his runway comeback after 12 years, walking for Falguni Shane Peacock on July 25 at the Taj Palace Hotel.
Clad in an ivory achkan-style sherwani, Akshay looked every bit the modern-day prince. The outfit had padded shoulders, fine silk thread embroidery, and gleaming gold buttons.
Adding his signature edge, Akshay wore sleek black sunglasses, which contrasted beautifully with the traditional elegance of the sherwani.
Netizens were surprised the star had walked the runway, given his habit of waking up early in the morning. One said, 'How did they get him to do this? Was this show at 6 AM??.' Another wrote, 'Indian Taauji couture.'

The show was inspired by the opulence of Indian palaces, and the designers didn't hold back. Sharing glimpses from the collection, FDCI captioned on Instagram: 'This season at Falguni Shane Peacock India, we channel the opulence of maharajas and maharanis — from palace carvings and lush gardens to emeralds, veils, and regal drapes. Inspired by icons like the Laxmi Vilas Palace and Jaipur's City Palace, the collection reimagines royal heritage for the modern maharani. An ode to India's timeless grandeur and the artisans who keep its legacy alive.'
The runway itself was a visual treat, with classical pillars, lush greenery, and a set design that echoed Laxmi Vilas Palace and Jaipur's City Palace, truly fit for couture royalty.

Mukesh Khanna calls Mahabharat co-stars ‘chhichhoras', says Ravi Chopra once said ‘a real man is someone who has affairs'

Actor Mukesh Khanna, who remains best known for playing Bhishma on the popular television adaptation of the Mahabharat, and the titular character on the superhero show Shaktimaan, spoke poorly about his co-stars on the mythological drama series, which aired on Doordarshan for nearly 100 episodes. Mahabharat ran from 1988 to 1990, and was created by BR Chopra, who also directed the series alongside his son, Ravi Chopra. Mahabharat debuted a year after Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan. In a new interview, Mukesh Khanna said that his Mahabharat co-stars were mostly 'chhichhoras', and recalled that Ravi Chopra once declared that a man's worth should be gauged on the number of affairs he has had. Appearing on the VTV Gujarat YouTube channel, he said that Indian culture is being eroded. Speaking about adultery and a lack of commitment in relationships, he continued, 'I am more comfortable with my work than with affairs. I still remember something that Ravi Chopra said… I laugh about it, I'm not bothered by it… The entire cast of Mahabharat, forgive me, was filled with 'chhichhoras'. Arjun, Duryodhan, you name them… I was the odd one out. Ravi Chopra would say, 'The man who has the most affairs is a real man'. The number of affairs you have doesn't define you as a man. A real man is someone who takes care of his family.' Also read – Mahabharat: BR Chopra stood by Rahi Masoom Raza when Doordarshan questioned how a Muslim man could write the show, 'It's not Hindu or Muslim' He said that the team behind the show gradually understood that he wasn't going to align with their views. He continued, 'A Gujarati actress who worked on Mahabharat was once asked about her co-stars, and she said, 'Mukesh Khanna is a prince among frogs'.' He was then asked about the final day of filming, when the cast broke down in tears and hugged each other. Behind-the-scenes visuals from set have been circulated online. Mukesh Khanna mocked actors Nitish Bharadwaj and Firoz Khan for weeping on set, and said, 'You can see in the video as well that I am keeping my distance. They were crying and wiping each other's tears, but I was amused. My shoot had ended a little earlier…' But he admitted that everyone was emotional because the experience had forged a bond between them. Previously, Mukesh had declined to appear on a Mahabharat reunion episode of Kapil Sharma's show. He has had beef with both Kapil, who slighted him at an event, and with Yudhishtir actor Gajendra Chauhan, with whom he has had a public war of words in the past. 'Bhishma Pitamah ke bina Mahabharat kahaan hoti hai? (Mahabharat is incomplete without Bhishma Pitamah). Arjun, Krishna, Duryodhana went, everybody went. Yudhistira also went and somewhere he gave a statement that, 'Mukesh ji ko toh bulaya hi nahi tha (Mukesh ji was not invited), they needed people who have a sense of humour,' I said, 'Oye, when these cricketers come, are they asked if they have a sense of humour? They are treated as VIPs, as if they have done someone a favour by appearing on his show,' he told Siddharth Kannan.

Anupamaa vs Kyunki Saas Bhi Season 2: Ektaa Kapoor declares who should be number 1, ‘Coming in to tell our story'

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, an iconic show on Indian television, is all set to return with a fresh reboot. Ektaa Kapoor, the producer of the TV serial, responded to comparisons with Anupamaa, starring Rupali Ganguly. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is one of India's most successful TV dramas. It was produced by Ektaa's company, Balaji Telefilms. As of July 24, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Anupamaa and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah are leading the Hindi TV charts with the highest Television Rating Points (TRPs) of 2.1 each among viewers aged 15–50. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai airs at 9:30 PM and shares the top position with Anupamaa, starring Rupali Ganguly, at 10 PM and Taarak Mehta at 8:30 PM. Udne Ki Aasha follows with a TRP of 1.9. Laughter Chefs Unlimited Entertainment also made it to the top five with a TRP of 1.8. When asked if women support each other more in the industry now than before, Ektaa Kapoor shared her thoughts on a recent issue. According to her, people are comparing Anupamaa with Kyunki. Ektaa feels it is unfair and in bad taste. 'She (Ganguly) is such a big star. Anupamaa, the show, the creator Rajan (Shahi) has done what nobody else could do in the last seven years. They will continue to be number 1. They should continue to be number 1," Kapoor told Brut. According to the Bollywood producer, her show has its own story to tell. "We are coming in for our purpose, to tell our story. These unfair comparisons between lead characters and lead shows are so unnecessary. Pitting women against each other, pitting content against each other is uncalled for,' she added. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi returns 17 years after the original ended. Season 2 marks its 25th anniversary. Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay are back as Tulsi and Mihir Virani. The new season will start airing from July 29 at 10.30 PM on Star Plus. Theh OTT release of the show will be on JioHotstar. New actors will play the next generation in the Virani family. This time, it's a short series with about 150 episodes. So far, it comprises more than 4,700 episodes.
