As the India-United States (US) Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) negotiations enter a crucial phase, the fate of three key agricultural commodities — maize, soybean, and soyoil — would be keenly watched.
According to sources, the US boasts of huge surpluses of all three commodities and is pushing to ease entry barriers as part of the deal. If the US has its way, it could have repercussions for farmers in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. But, the most immediate impact could be in Bihar, which goes to polls later this year.

The volume of derivative trading is likely to take a hit impacting stock exchanges and some brokerages. This has implications for their stock prices, too. The short-term issues are unlikely to have any long-term impact on the market. Short-term dips can be used by long-term investors to buy high quality stocks, preferably in fairly valued largecaps. Last week, markets wrapped up the week on a positive note, even though trading remained largely rangebound. The Nifty settled at 25,461 with a gain of 55.7 points, while the Sensex rose by 193 points to close at 83,432. According to brokerage firm Choice Broking, the Nifty has resumed its upward trajectory after breaking out of its recent consolidation range. ' The index is currently in Wave 5 of an Elliott Impulse structure on the weekly chart, indicating a continuation of the bullish trend. As per Fibonacci extension, the next major upside targets are seen at 27,300 and 28,600. On the downside, key supports are placed at 25,000 and 24,500, where buying interest is likely to emerge,' the firm said. Support Levels: 25200-25000 Resistance Levels: 26000-26200 The Bank Nifty index ended the week at 57,031.90, down 0.72% compared to the previous week's close. While the weekly chart shows selling pressure at higher levels, the index has managed to stay above the important 57,000 level. The brokerage firm said that the Bank Nifty index is likely to face significant resistance in the 57,300–57,500 range. If the index continues to move higher, ICICIBANK from the private banking sector is expected to support the uptrend. Similarly, in the public sector banking space, SBIN and CANBK are anticipated to show strength. ' On the weekly timeframe, Bank Nifty is trading above all its key moving averages, including the short-term 20-day, medium-term 50-day, and long-term 200-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMA), indicating an overall upward trend. However, selling pressure at higher levels suggests that a consolidation phase is underway, with the index attempting to hold above the crucial 57,000 mark. Key downside support is seen in the 56,700–56,500 range. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at 65.39, indicating a sideways move. This consolidation phase may lead to either a time-wise or price-wise correction as the index awaits fresh triggers for the next directional move,' it said. Pak 'spy' Jyoti Malhotra was invited by Kerala as state tourism influencer: RTI
Jyoti Malhotra, a travel vlogger from Haryana's Sirsa now under arrest on espionage charges, was once hosted by the Kerala government as part of its influencer campaign to promote tourism in the to news agency ANI, a Right to Information (RTI) query revealed that Malhotra was among 41 social media influencers whose trips were fully funded by the state government under an initiative to market Kerala as a global tourist destination. The state bore the cost of their travel, accommodation and food, and even engaged a private agency to assist the influencers with video shoots during their Tourism Minister PA Mohammad Riyas defended the decision, saying the government had no knowledge of Malhotra's alleged espionage links at that time. "We had no clue about any such connections when she was invited. It has all come out only now," Riyas said, questioning whether anyone would believe that the government or the department would have knowingly facilitated her visit if they had known. "People know about it. Do you think the ministers or the government in Kerala would arrange everything for her to carry out espionage? This was a standard practice the tourism department has followed for years," he said. The minister also urged to verify how influencers are shortlisted, stressing that neither the ministers nor the government directly handle such invitations."It's a serious issue and everyone should exercise more caution. Supreme Court agrees to hear pleas against voter roll revision in poll-bound Bihar
The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear petitions challenging the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar. The matter will now be heard on Thursday (July 10).The pleas, filed by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Congress, Mahua Moitra of the Trinamool Congress, the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and the People's Union for Civil Liberties, sought a pause in the electoral roll revision June 24, the Election Commission issued instructions to carry out an SIR in Bihar, to weed out ineligible names and ensure only eligible citizens are included in the electoral rolls. In a statement, the Election Commission made it clear that while voters were required to "submit their documents anytime before July 25, 2025", those who failed to do so would get an opportunity "during the claims and objections period".Senior advocate and Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi sought an urgent hearing into the matter.
