Only 5 coaches are new ones
Of the 20 LHB coaches forming Train No. 16585, only five are new coaches manufactured in 2025, according to T. P. Lokesh, a Bengaluru-based rail enthusiast. Of the seven second class sleeper coaches, three are new, and of the four general second class coaches, two are new, he said.
All the air-conditioned coaches are old ones, some of them manufactured in 2014.
When the Mangaluru Central-Mumbai LTT Matsyagandha Express got LHB coaches, patrons had a similar experience. Many of the coaches forming four rakes of the service were old ones, leading to widespread disappointment among travellers.
