English pop singer Jessie J took to Instagram on June 4 to reveal that she has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer, and that she will undergo surgery after her scheduled performance at London music festival Capital's Summertime Ball on June 15.
Decked in a black tank top and a cap, she said in a video that she had deliberated if she should make her condition public.
'I want to share it with my fans and the people who care about me - and also I'm a sharer. I've always shared everything that I go through in my life.
'I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse – that's the bit that kills me.'
The 37-year-old celebrity coach from reality TV singing competitions like The Voice UK (2012 to 2013) and The Voice Australia (2015 to 2016) added: 'It's a very dramatic way to get a boob job. I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery and I will come back with massive t*** and more music.'
In the comments section of her post, English singer-actress Rita Ora, 34, expressed her support: 'My mother had it and I know the surgery and any treatment on this matter is mentally tough so I'm here for you.'
Jessie J, known for hit songs like Price Tag (2011) and Bang Bang (2014), previously revealed that she was diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in April 2024.
Since 2021, she has been in a relationship with Danish-Israeli professional basketball player Chanan Colman, 41. She suffered a miscarriage in 2021, but welcomed their first child, a boy, in May 2023.

SailGP rides rising tide with celebrity owners, brands
FILE PHOTO: SailGP F50 team Canada competes in front of the Statue of Liberty after the start of the finals race during the SailGP sailboat racing event won by team New Zealand in New York Harbor, New York City, U.S. June 23, 2024. REUTERS/Mike Segar/File Photo NEW YORK - With new celebrity owners and a bevy of fresh sponsors, SailGP hopes to harness a wave of popularity and take the global sailing championship to the next level as it steers back to New York City to race for a third time this weekend. SailGP announced actors Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds as new owners of Australia's three-time champion team on Thursday, just as the ink was drying on the team's first title sponsor deal with BONDS. Reynolds led beleaguered soccer side Wrexham out of obscurity and into the English second-tier Championship with an injection of marketing wizardry, cash and a popular docu-series that quickly converted legions of American fans. SailGP is hoping for their Wrexham moment, too. "The fact that we can get that sort of involvement in one of the teams is amazing, and they'll have some fun with it too, which is what it's all about," Russell Coutts, the former Olympic champion who co-founded the league, told Reuters. It was the kind of news to which fans have become accustomed, as the operation co-founded by billionaire Larry Ellison catches fire with A-listers and snares more big-name brands six years after its launch. Oscar winner Anne Hathaway joined a female-led consortium that acquired the Red Bull Italy SailGP Team last week, while the competition itself named Rolex its title sponsor in November. More than 200,000 ticketholders watched SailGP events last year, as the league reported strong growth in social media engagement, snaring younger fans. The competition expanded to 12 teams for season five, with the addition of Brazil and Italy, and announced its new docuseries last month, part of a new content development push. "We had so many sort of naysayers out there saying this is like another sailing league, it'll be gone in two years, people have tried this and done it before, it never works and SailGP has totally broken down those boundaries," said Tom Slingsby, the CEO and driver for the Australian team. The 2012 Olympic gold medallist, whose team was rebranded as the BONDS Flying Roos, said he could not have imagined five years ago his team signing an iconic brand like BONDS, as they mull potential documentary options with Jackman and Reynolds. "I would have said that's not possible. There's no chance," he said. "But here we are." The leaders in the SailGP standings are not the only winners in the sponsorship race: On Monday, the U.S. SailGP team announced Amazon has signed on as a sponsor, joining existing brands like Tommy Hilfiger and T-Mobile. "You're starting to see really big brands come in and spend money in our sport," said Mike Buckley, the CEO and strategist for the U.S. SailGP team. "We're on everybody's radar now." Buckley put his money where his mouth is in 2023, helping lead a group of investors in the purchase of the U.S. team, locking in early for the league that hopes to become the "F1 of sailing". "Larry Ellison and Russell Coutts had a vision to build a TV product that the average racing fan would spend 90 minutes paying attention to," he said. "And I think they've done just that." The New York Sail Grand Prix is set for June 7-8. REUTERS Join ST's Telegram channel and get the latest breaking news delivered to you.

E-Junkies: Katy Kung agreed to do tough labour in TVB reality show because 'might as well choose the most challenging one', Entertainment News
Hong Kong actress Katy Kung is an example of an artiste who goes all the way for her work, despite the challenging parts of the assignment. In a recent episode of TVB reality series A Day With A Pro, where artistes try out tough jobs, the 35-year-old is seen going all out as a maintenance worker, cleaning out cockroaches and faece-filled drainage systems. Speaking to AsiaOne on May 31 at StarHub's new flagship store in Paragon she said: "A lot of people asked why my company assigned me to do this show. That's actually not the case, they had asked me beforehand if I was okay to do related work like this. "I feel that since I agreed to do this, then I might as well choose the most challenging one. It was an unforgettable experience to have a chance to be exposed to work like this." Katy also recalled vividly of an instance where she opened up a drain cover and cockroaches skittered towards her. "I got quite a shock because they were running in my direction. If they were going in the opposite direction, then maybe I wouldn't be so afraid... I am actually okay seeing cockroaches, so long as they don't fly," she shared. She added that she experienced the tasks of a maintenance worker for two days for filming and while it was tough work, she also didn't want to delay the staff members. Katy shared: "To be honest, it was really tiring, but this was also a job where I had to coordinate with the other maintenance workers. So, I told myself that I needed to work faster, or they would have a difficult time too. "I couldn't just think about myself because everyone was also tired. It was a very hot day and there were no clouds at all. I just told myself to get the task done quickly so that the workers wouldn't have a tough time as well." A staff member offered her a lift home and told her later that the smell actually lingered in their vehicle for a few days. View this post on Instagram A post shared by 龔嘉欣 Katy Official (@kungkaty) Katy and TVB actor Him Law were in Singapore last weekend where they met and played games with fans at the StarHub flagship store in Paragon on May 31 and also performed outside Jurong Point the following day. She shared that she was last in Singapore about six years ago and looked forward to eating local food, especially black pepper crabs that evening. View this post on Instagram A post shared by AsiaOne (@asiaonecom) Katy arrived on May 31 and fans gathered at the airport to warmly welcome her. When asked how she felt meeting her fans, she said: "I actually felt quite apologetic today, because there was a delay, and I came out of the arrival hall late. But they were all waiting for me. "I had told them earlier not to come because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to take photos or sign autographs for them, but they were so nice, they waited for me for a long time and were also very enthusiastic. They even bought a pandan cake for me knowing that I love eating it." View this post on Instagram A post shared by hktvbfan (@hktvbfan) Katy also introduced her upcoming TVB drama The Map of Truth, which is expected to be released this year. She shared: "The title of the drama sounds like a variety show, but actually it's a drama. There is a small element of suspense, but it's also a touching story. There may be some scary scenes. It seems like audiences prefer series like this, such as Unchained Medley (2023)." The Map of Truth tells the story of feng shui expert Master Zhuang Yichen (Wayne Lai) who creates a social media channel to discuss and visit places with supernatural elements. As he gains popularity for his content, sceptic influencer Bi Ping (Katy) uses scientific explanations to debunk Master Zhuang's discussions and the two begin a fight to outwit each other, with the line between superstition and reality becoming increasingly blurred. Katy said that while filming the drama, they visited "almost every cemetery in Hong Kong" and shared an unforgettable experience she had. She recounted: "There was a day when I drove myself to the filming location, which was in a cemetery. The cemetery doesn't seem to be maintained and is located at the top of a mountain. A staff member told me [over the phone] that they would arrive in about half an hour, and I could meet them there, so I drove over. "But when I reached there, there was not a single person in sight. I thought I went to the wrong location, but when I called them, I was told that they had a delay and would arrive in another half an hour. I was alone at the cemetery, so I quickly lowered my car seat and closed my eyes to wait for them. That was quite an unforgettable experience." When asked if it was during the day or night, she responded that it was the former, adding with a laugh: "If it was nighttime, I would have left immediately." 'You worried about us too much': Tay Ying has heart-to-heart talk with mum Hong Huifang before marriage
In an Instagram Reel uploaded yesterday (June 5), local actresses Hong Huifang and Tay Ying sat down together to have a heartfelt talk about their relationship as mother and daughter. It's just in time before Tay Ying's wedding to celebrity chef Wu Sihan, which will be happening this month. Using a mini gacha machine to draw out questions, Huifang, 64, asked Tay Ying, 29: "What is one thing I didn't do well as a mother?" After a moment of contemplation, Tay Ying replied: "You don't love yourself enough. When we were younger, you worried about us too much — and then you forget about yourself. So I think in this season of life, it's time to love yourself more." "I think I will, because I left not too long anymore," Huifang joked, drawing a loud "Aiyoh" from Tay Ying. Huifang and her actor husband Zheng Geping, 61, also have son Calvert, 25, who's a singer-actor. When asked to share their proudest moments of one another, Tay Ying talked about her mother starring in Singaporean-South Korean film Ajoomma (2022). It was when Huifang attended a gala screening and many people in the showbiz industry gathered around her in applause. "In that moment I also felt so proud of myself," Huifang reminisced. Her proudest moment of Tay Ying is knowing that she's about to get married. She said fondly: "I'm so happy you finally found the man of your dreams." This left Tay Ying sighing: "Done so many good things in my life as a daughter but this is the only one." Huifang added: "This is your happiness. It's most important. I spent the first half of my life taking care of you and now someone else is taking care of you in my second half." Thereafter, Tay Ying asked Huifang: "Is there ever a moment where you wanted to leave your relationship?" Huifang incredulously said: "No." Advising the soon-to-be wife on maintaining a relationship, she said: "Both parties grew up in different environments — his and your habits are bound to be different, and so will your tempers. If you plant a tree, you must water it. You can't leave it there. Otherwise, it'll die. So you have to manage [your relationship] for it to last long." She also revealed when she found that she and Geping's spark has gone out, she suggested they go "find some spark", such as going on vacation together. Tay Ying also asked Huifang on what her biggest fight with Geping was, which happened to revolve around teenage Tay Ying. Mum explained: "Papa spoiled you a lot, and I wanted to beat you because you did something wrong. I didn't in the end, even though I wanted to — I couldn't bear to do it." Huifang is starring in the upcoming film A Good Child, which stars Richie Koh and Cheryl Chou. Tay Ying has been nominated for Star Awards 2025 in two categories: Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes and BYD Favourite Female Character. [[nid:718802]]
