Minister Lokesh hails revamped ration distribution system
VIJAYAWADA: HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh lauded the newly launched ration distribution system by Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar, calling it a progressive and people-centric initiative that reflects the coalition government's commitment to food security.
In a social media post on X, Lokesh congratulated the minister for initiating ration distribution through fair price shops (FPS) in a festive and organised manner, which he said aligned with public expectations. He said the shift from mobile dispensing units (MDUs) to shop-based distribution was a major success from day one.
'While an average of 11 lakh people received ration on the first day under the previous government, 18.87 lakh families received ration on Sunday alone,' Lokesh highlighted, emphasising that the new policy eliminates the uncertainty and inconvenience of waiting for mobile ration vehicles.
'This is a testament to the TDP-led NDA government's resolve to improve service delivery and dignity for the marginalised,' Lokesh added.
Lokesh challenges Jagan over URSA allegations
HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh on Monday issued an open challenge to YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, demanding proof for allegations that land in Visakhapatnam was sold to URSA Clusters for just `1 per acre.
In a post on X, Lokesh said he would resign from his ministerial post if the allegations are proven true. At the same time, he demanded that Jagan apologise to the State's youth if the claims are false.
Refuting the charges, Lokesh clarified that land was allotted at significantly higher rates — 3.5 acres in IT Park Hill-3 were sold at `1 crore per acre, while 56.36 acres in Kapuluppada were allocated at `50 lakh per acre.

'UP should not get less than 20 per cent in central taxes,' UP Finance Minister on meeting with members of 16th Finance Commission
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 5 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday held a meeting with members of the 16th Finance Commission in Lucknow. While speaking with ANI, the state's Finance Minister, Suresh Khanna, said that CM Yogi laid out several demands in front of the Finance Commission. This also included a demand to increase the state's share in central taxes. Khanna said, '...Some demands were made by the Chief Minister for the state today. Instead of the 41 per cent share we received so far, we should get 50 per cent. At the same time, Uttar Pradesh should not get less than 20 per cent in central taxes. This is our demand.' Meanwhile, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said that demands concerning the state were put forth in the meeting. 'Today, the Uttar Pradesh government has given its full presentation before the 16th Finance Commission. We have put forward our problems and demands department-wise for the development of Uttar Pradesh,' Pathak said, adding, 'I am very happy that the 16th Finance Commission, under the leadership of Arvind Panagariya, will extend its blessings to Uttar Pradesh...' Earlier, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath addressed a state-level workshop in Lucknow, commemorating 11 years of the Modi government. He highlighted India's significant global standing under Prime Minister Modi's leadership and emphasised the importance of planning programs at various levels to build on the achievements of the past 11 years. 'It is our good fortune that under the leadership of PM Modi, India has attained a significant global standing,' CM Yogi remarked. ‘Stampede was state-orchestrated': Bengaluru MP Tejasvi Surya slams Siddaramaiah government
Bengaluru MP Tejasvi Surya has launched a scathing attack on Congress-led Karnataka government over the stampede outside Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium that left 11 people dead during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) IPL victory celebration. Surya blamed the state government, alleging that the Chief Minister's open invitation to fans without adequate planning and security led to the tragedy. "The stampede was completely avoidable. It was state-orchestrated," he said while speaking to ANI. "Yesterday, the CM put out a tweet giving an open invitation to everyone, knowing fully well the frenzy of fans. He gave this invitation without making proper arrangements for security, safety, and crowd control." The Bengaluru South MP accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar of turning the event into a "family function" for Congress leaders. He said the government should take full responsibility for the tragedy and demanded financial compensation for the victims' families. "Lives that have been lost cannot be brought back," Surya said. "The state government must own up and cover all expenses for the injured and compensate the families who have lost their loved ones." Surya also questioned the value of the magisterial inquiry ordered by the government. "Will this 15-day report help these families? Keep this 15-day report yourself in your house. Who cares?" He urged the RCB management and players to step up as well. "No other team enjoys the kind of loyalty RCB does. Bengalurians treat RCB as family. The cricketers have made hundreds of crores from fans' love over the years. It's now their moral responsibility to support these families."
