JOCKEY TO FOLLOW
Kerrin McEvoy has some nice rides and looks a good chance in the TAB Jockey Challenge.
TRIPLE TWO EIGHT (8) was bumped at the start and settled well back on debut at Warwick Farm. Got the outside and closed strongly in the last 50m for third to Tomato Toastie. Will be improved by the run. MISS JONES (2) led when second behind Glorious Moments over 1200m here on June 18. Returned three weeks later when fourth to Infusion after missing the start. KERBER (5) was specked from $21 into $13 on debut in the Listed Lonhro Plate when ninth to Bellazaine. Closed nicely when fifth in his recent Rosehill trial.
BET: TRIPLE TWO EIGHT (8) to win.
KOKATAHI (2) was a little green on debut and laid in when a three-quarter length third to Central Coast here on June 18. Had an easy trial at Rosehill before a third to Tomato Toastie at Randwick on July 12. SKYGLIDER (7) is a first starter by Flying Artie from the family of dual Group 1 winner Turffontein. Led and kept under a hold when third to Nashville Jack in his first trial at Rosehill. Sat three-wide outside the leaders and came away to win his second heat. SIXTIES (9) was held up for clear running until the 100m when eighth at Gosford on debut.
BET: KOKATAHI (2) to win.
MAQUISA (8) was okay first-up when third behind impressive winner Stardeel on the Kensington. Unlucky here last start when held up in the straight and having to change course near the 100m when second to Infusion. KILONOVA (4) won on debut at Rosehill in February before a spell. Led and fought on gamely for a head second to Signor Tortoni when resuming over 1200m here two weeks ago. SHALAA GOLD (2) was rewarded for his consistent form when he ended last campaign with a win from Everybody Rise at Warwick Farm. Nice win from the in-form King Of Roseau in his Randwick trial.
BET: MAQUISA (8) each-way.
AMREEKIYAH (5) did a nice job to beat the favourite Inevitable Truth on debut ta Kembla and followed up with an all-the-way win from Pinito at Newcastle. Trialling nicely including a closing win from Metaphorically in her Hawkesbury heat. ISLAND DREAM (1) followed a Hawkesbury maiden win with a Benchmark 72 win at Rosehill before stepping up to the Group 3 Kembla Grange Classic when 11th to Verona Rose. RINGAROSA (4) was first-up from a length spell for a new stable when fourth to Romeo's Choice at Warwick Farm three weeks ago. Is a winner at this track and distance and drawn to be prominent.
BET: AMREEKIYAH (5) to win.
NO DRAMA (1) loves Canterbury where he has two wins and a second from three runs. Led all-the-way for a smart win from Naval Commission over this track and distance in April. Returned to Canterbury on June 18 with a solid half-length second to Nana's Wish. GALANO (1) resumed with a stylish win at Muswellbrook. Has won two from three second-up. Was runner-up to Fay's Angel over 1900m here at the end of last campaign. DELRICO (8) was held up for 150m in the straight when fifth to Centenario here last start. Was a winner here last campaign.
BET: NO DRAMA (1) to win.
THE REPLICANT (10) has won just three races from 39 starts but has a further 22 placings. Three of those placings have been in his three runs here, the latest a second to Hanau on July 9. Has claims from the inside draw. METAPHORICALLY (1) raced well below his best when last behind Getafix and pulled up 1/5 lame on the Kensington last start. Has since finished second to Amreekiyah in a Hawkesbury trial. Resumed with a head third to The Great Houdini and Puntin here first-up. PRETTY POWERFUL (2) was held up over the final 400m and untested at Randwick last start. Won here last campaign.
KENMARE BAY (10) has had a lengthy campaign but continues to race well. Came from midfield and pushed out on the turn to beat Tempranillo over this track and distance on May 28. Was five weeks between runs when third to Nana's Wish at Warwick Farm. HOVLAND (7) was very good winning at Hawkesbury over 1800m then had to change course inside the last 100m when fifth to Monarch's Brae here last start. SLY BOOTS (3) was good late from back in the field when fifth to Puntin over 1400m at Rosehill first-up before a sixth to Oh Diamond Lil over 1600m at Randwick last start.

Glamour couple Jordan De Goey, Aisha Jade McKinnon drop ‘surprise' life update

Collingwood forward Jordan De Goey and his former reality TV star girlfriend Aisha Jade McKinnon have announced the 'surprise' news they are expecting a baby girl. De Goey, 29, has been held to just five games for the Pies in an injury-plagued 2025 season, although he is in line for an AFL return this weekend. FOX FOOTY, available on Kayo Sports, is the only place to watch every match of every round in the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season LIVE in 4K, with no ad-breaks during play. New to Kayo? New Zealander McKinnon, who found fame as a contestant on Big Brother and is now a fashion designer and influencer, met the footy bad boy in early 2024 after linking up on Instagram. They went public with their romance at Collingwood's best and fairest awards last year and have since bought a farm together. McKinnon's Instagram bio says 'Fashion, Beauty and little Farm life' and the celebrity couple used that platform to announce their happy news. 'In the midst of our changing lives we were blessed with the greatest surprise of them all,' they captioned a joint post on Sunday. 'Baby girl coming soon.' The post featured an ultrasound, a sweet photo of De Goey holding McKinnon's stomach and a video that appears to show the footy star getting a gender reveal gift from his partner (see below). The announcement has received more than 35,000 likes and over 800 comments, including a number from De Goey's Collingwood teammates. 'Unreal! Congrats to both of you,' wrote Josh Daicos. Model and Daicos' partner Annalise Dalins added: 'The best news!! Congratulations you two! Sending (so much) love.' Oleg Markov and Isaac Quaynor both wrote: 'Congrats guys.' Musician Bec Wilcock gushed: 'This makes me so happy!!! Bring in the girl squad.' McKinnon told the Herald Sun last year the couple have similar interests and are loving working on their farm about an hour outside Melbourne. 'He's really lovely. We definitely value our privacy, we connected on that, and we both have unique jobs and support each other,'' she said. 'We were like pen pals until we met. We're getting our hands dirty at the farm transforming it and having fun.' De Goey has played 176 games for the Pies, including the 2023 premiership, but hasn't featured since round eight due to an Achilles injury. He was then concussed at training in a collision with Brayden Maynard, setting back his return further, but he turned out in the VFL last weekend and is in line for a senior recall. Pick No. 5 in the 2014 national draft, De Goey has had a series of alcohol and violence related issues in the past, including an arrest in New York in 2021 over an alleged nightclub assault.

Melbourne's Steven May fails at appeal to get rough conduct suspension for clash with Francis Evans overturned

Star defender Steven May will still miss Melbourne's next two games after the club's bid to overturn his rough conduct suspension was rejected by the AFL appeals board. May was initially handed a three-match ban by the tribunal for rough conduct over the high-speed collision in the Demons' July 19 loss to Carlton that left Blues forward Francis Evans with concussion, a broken nose and a missing tooth. The All Australian defender maintained the ball was always his focus. May, who missed the Demons' demoralising loss to St Kilda on Sunday with his own concussion, will be suspended for games against West Coast and the Western Bulldogs. He was not involved in Monday night's appeal hearing. The Demons appealed on the basis the tribunal made an error of law and that no tribunal acting reasonably could have come to the decision it did. Melbourne's case, which was presented over more than an hour, hinged on the contention that no reasonable tribunal would expect a player to anticipate the trajectory of the ball's bounce. Melbourne noted after a handball went over Evans' head, the ball bounced four times. The first three bounces went away from the Carlton player, before the fourth took the ball into his hands, when May made contact. Jack Rush, acting for the Demons, contended the tribunal had put a "sense of perfection on the reasonable player" in expecting May to anticipate the ball's trajectory. Melbourne also contended that the tribunal noting Evans had made a movement to avoid contact, while not taking into account May had extended his left leg in an attempt to also slow down, was "the height of procedural unfairness" and demonstrated "unreasonableness". AFL representative Nick Pane quickly contended the tribunal's finding was not unreasonable before the appeals board of Stephen Jurica, Wayne Henwood and chair Will Houghton deliberated for 14 minutes. In rejecting Melbourne's appeal, Houghton said the board was satisfied May understood the case being put forward against him and he had every opportunity to put forward his own case. He concluded there was no lack of procedural fairness and no unreasonableness in the tribunal's decision. Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin had said on Sunday that May was "devastated and shattered" by the tribunal's decision, having believed he had done the right thing in attacking the ball. Goodwin also predicted the case would shape the way players approach contests in future. He believed players would adapt with the more information they get from the AFL about how they are required to act in certain scenarios. AAP

West Coast Eagles confirm Harley Reid's season over after western derby ankle injury

Harley Reid's second AFL season has ended four games early, with the West Coast Eagles confirming their rising star will miss the final month with an ankle injury. Reid was helped off the field late in Saturday's 49-point loss to Fremantle after he injured his ankle in a tackle. He had kicked two goals. Coach Andrew McQualter said after the game the 20-year-old would be sent for scans. They have revealed he suffered a syndesmosis injury, often referred to as a "high ankle sprain". "Harley Reid got his foot caught up in a tackle and has a low-grade syndesmosis injury," Eagles fitness boss Mat Inness said. "Despite being quite a low-grade injury, due to the time of season, we have ruled him out for the season." The news comes amid intense speculation in AFL circles about the long-term playing future of the highly regarded Reid, who was the AFL's number one draft pick in 2023, and whether he will return home to his native Victoria. The loss of Reid is not the only bad news for West Coast, who are languishing at the bottom of the AFL ladder with just one win for the year. Scans have also confirmed their top draft pick last year, Bo Allan, has played his last game for 2025 as well. Allan, who played in a WAFL premiership with Peel Thunder last year, has also suffered a syndesmosis injury. "Like Harley, Bo Allan got his foot caught up in a tackle at training on Thursday and suffered a low-grade syndesmosis injury," Inness said. "Once again, due to the time of the year, this will rule him out for the season." Allan, 19, managed six appearances in his first season. There was better news for key defender Harry Edwards, who was withdrawn from the Fremantle game after experiencing hamstring tightness during the warm-up. Inness said the club was hopeful Edwards would be available for this weekend's game against Melbourne.
