This expressway segment stands out as the nation's first airstrip capable of accommodating
fighter aircraft landings
during both daylight and darkness. Previous emergency landing exercises on the Lucknow-Agra and Purvanchal expressways were restricted to daytime operations.
The exercise attracted numerous locals who gathered to observe the demonstrations.
The trials featured aircraft like Rafale, SU-30 MKI, Mirage-2000, MiG-29, Jaguar, C-130J Super Hercules, AN-32 and the MI-17 V5 helicopter.
The comprehensive exercise assessed low-altitude passes, landings and take-offs in both day and night conditions.
State officials noted that the successful drill demonstrates the expressway's capability as an alternative runway during emergencies, enhancing the IAF's operational capabilities.
The expressway had been equipped with over 250 CCTV cameras to ensure foolproof security and surveillance. Top defence and state officials were also present to oversee the proceedings.
The Ganga Expressway will be Uttar Pradesh's fourth expressway with an emergency airstrip after the Agra-Lucknow Expressway (Unnao), Purvanchal Expressway (Sultanpur), and Bundelkhand Expressway (near Etawah), distinguished by its
night landing capabilities
.
Shahjahanpur SP Rajesh Dwivedi said: "The airstrip, located near Piru village in the Jalalabad region, witnessed IAF drill. Around 40 km of the surrounding area was sanitised with the help of personnel from the Panchayati Raj and Animal Husbandry departments, along with local police teams.

They were stationed along the expressway to prevent animals from straying onto the road or restricted zones."
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had inspected the airstrip the previous Sunday. Night operations were held between 7pm and 10pm, necessitating closure of the Bareilly-Etawah route between Jalalabad and Madanpur, with alternative routes suggested for travelers.
In Sep 2021, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved the 594-km Ganga Expressway project between Meerut and Prayagraj.
The initial civil and construction cost estimate was Rs 36,230 crore. The public-private partnership project is currently experiencing delays.

Modi first PM to restore Ayodhya's glory: CM Yogi Adityanath

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday credited the 11 years rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the 'resurgence of India's cultural heritage', citing 'milestones' such as the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the restoration of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, and events like the Maha Kumbh. He said Modi is the first Prime Minister to 'restore Ayodhya's glory'. Addressing a state-level BJP workshop organised in Lucknow on the completion of 11 years of the Modi government, Adityanath urged party workers to actively participate in programmes like the Tiranga Yatra, Ahilyabai Holkar Remembrance, and International Yoga Day. The CM also asked BJP workers to take the 'achievements' of the Central government to every citizen. He said the 11 years of the Modi government's performance form the foundation for realizing the vision of a developed India. 'Workers must play an active role in disseminating these achievements at the state, district, mandal, and Shakti Kendra levels.' Recalling how BJP workers had taken the achievements of the Uttar Pradesh government's 8-year tenure to every booth, the CM said it is now time to do the same at a national level — showcasing both state and central accomplishments. Citing BJP's win in recent Assembly by-elections, he said that coordinated meetings of party departments and cells had proved effective. BJP's six morchas and 22–23 cells represent every segment of society — including lawyers, doctors, teachers, students, and beneficiaries. Organising meetings with these groups and selecting speakers from among them would ensure effective outreach. He encouraged departments and cells to organise conferences with professionals such as doctors and lawyers, and to promote beneficiary success stories through media. He said this campaign will not only promote the BJP, but also help connect the government with every segment of society. A range of programmes are scheduled from June 9 to June 21 at the state, district, mandal, and booth levels. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said India's growing global recognition and strengthening economy are direct results of PM Modi's leadership. He urged workers to communicate the benefits of schemes aimed at villages, the poor, farmers, and women to the broader public.

Dissmissed Beed cop Ranjit Kasale booked again for an objectionable post, this time against Fadnavis

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Dismissed sub-inspector Ranjit Kasale, who is already embroiled in several criminal cases, has been slapped with additional charges from the Beed cybercrime branch for allegedly posting derogatory and defamatory content against Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on social media platforms. The latest FIR, registered on Monday, stems from a complaint lodged by BJP IT cell's state co-convenor Sambhaji Surve. The complaint alleges that Kasale published content deemed defamatory to Fadnavis and of an objectionable nature, resulting in police intervention. Police have applied sections 197 and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) alongside section 66 of the Information Technology Act, 2000. These new allegations are expected to intensify the legal challenges for the former policeman, who is currently under police detention for a different case. A Mumbai crime branch team recently caught Kasale in Delhi and transported him to Mumbai for questioning. Following his court appearance before a magistrate, he received two days of police custody. This detention concluded on Monday, June 2, after which he appeared before the Fort court. Earlier, Kasale faced arrest for allegedly attempting to create communal discord and making offensive remarks against elected representatives. The current case adds to a growing list of complaints against him. Before these events, police had registered two separate FIRs against Kasale at Beed's Shivajinagar police station and the district's cyber police station, following complaints from social activist Mohan Aghav. Additionally, Kasale faces charges in Mumbai for similar violations involving provocative social media content directed at political figures and communities. According to police sources, Kasale's online activities demonstrate consistent behaviour aimed at causing discord and damaging the reputations of public officials. Operation Sindoor: Pakistan dossier 'reveals' 7 more targets India hit

NEW DELHI: Pakistan said India conducted strikes at seven more locations than the targets officially acknowledged by Indian armed forces between May 7 and 10 during Operation Sindoor . A Pakistan govt document on its Operation Bunyan al-Marsoos (Iron Wall) and India's "unprovoked aggression", shared with its media, lists out Indian drone strikes at Attock, Bahawalnagar, Gujrat and Jhang (Punjab province), Peshawar (Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province), and Chhor and Hyderabad (Sindh province), which it claimed killed many civilians. None of these places were mentioned in the detailed briefings conducted by Indian foreign and military establishments. "We had disclosed the targets we hit in the briefings. This Pakistani document could be a propaganda attempt to show that India also targeted civilian sites," an Indian defence official said. After Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians, India on May 7 hit 4 terror hubs in Pakistan and five in POK, in calibrated strikes against terror infrastructure across the border, without targeting any Pakistani military base or civilian centre. The targets ranged from Sawai Nala camp in Muzaffarabad in north to Markaz Taiba in Muridke (Lashkar-e-Taiba HQ) and Markaz Subhan at Bahawalpur (Jaish-e-Muhammed HQ) in south. After Pakistan escalated the situation by targeting Indian military bases and civilian centres with missiles and waves of drone swarms, IAF struck at least nine Pakistani airbases and at least four military radar sites.
