He described the infographic report as having given an inaccurate narrative impact and causing defamation.
'I was quite surprised by the publication of an infographic that was incorrect, very incorrect because I have never seen Datuk Khalid in any event, meeting, or convention or party congress. So that is a slander that for me is very bad.
'We have just established the Media Council, but the structures have not been established yet... But for me, in a situation like this, the Media Council is the best platform for us to manage issues including journalistic ethics as intended,' he said.
He told reporters at the Kita MADANI Carnival at the Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya Federal Territories level which was held at IWK Eco Park, Lembah Pantai here.
Also present was Information Department director-general Julina Johan.
Recently, a local newspaper published an infographic of Mohd Khalid's biodata which stated that he had held a high position in PKR. However, the newspaper has since withdrawn the publication and made a public apology.
It is understood that there have been reports made by the public regarding the publication.
On June 14, Fahmi, in a press conference after the opening of the National Journalists' Day (HAWANA) 2025 Summit at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTCKL) here, announced that the Malaysian Media Council (MMM) Act would come into effect on that day (June 14).
While speaking at the opening of HAWANA 2025, Fahmi also announced that the MMM Founding Board had been finalised.
He said the Founding Board would be made up of 12 people, consisting of four representatives for each category, namely the media company category, media association category, media practitioners and independent media practitioners, as well as the non-media member category.

Attorney-General, Public Prosecutor Split Set For Cabinet Review
The proposed separation of the roles of Attorney-General and Public Prosecutor will be submitted to the Cabinet at the end of this month, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced in the Dewan Rakyat today. 'This separation has long been requested, and the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) will present it to the Cabinet at the end of this month, so the progress is encouraging,' he said during the Ministerial Questions session. 'These are achievements in our administration that have yet to be matched by previous governments, including the one led by the honourable member (Datuk Rosol) previously,' he added. The Prime Minister was responding to a question from Datuk Rosol Wahid (PN–Hulu Terengganu) on which outdated laws would be amended or repealed to align with MADANI's reform principles and the timeline for implementation. Since taking office, the government has enacted 23 legal reforms, including two constitutional amendments related to citizenship and the Parliamentary Services Act 2025. Among other reforms, the administration has amended the Evidence (Child Witnesses) Act, enacted the Public Finance and Fiscal Responsibility Act 2023, repealed the Mandatory Death Penalty Act 2023, and introduced the Ombudsman Bill 2025 and the Cybercrime Bill 2025. Anwar provided a breakdown of legislative activity: in 2023, five new laws and 34 amendments were enacted; in 2024, five new laws and 57 amendments; and in 2025 so far, four new laws, six amendments, two new bills, and 11 amended bills. On the topic of anti-party-hopping legislation, the Prime Minister said he had no objection to proposals to strengthen the law. He recalled submitting recommendations on the matter while serving as Opposition Leader, which were not implemented under the Constitutional (Amendment) (No. 3) 2022, prohibiting Members of Parliament from switching parties. 'Even if there are new proposals, that is fine. But let us not forget that it was previously opposed by those on the other side (now the opposition),' Anwar remarked in response to a follow-up from Rosol.

Fahmi pushes for Kampung Kerinchi residents' priority in housing ownership
KUALA LUMPUR: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has called for priority housing ownership for original Kampung Kerinchi residents in projects like Residensi Wilayah and Residensi MADANI. Fahmi, who is also Lembah Pantai MP, suggested allocating 50 to 60 per cent of homes to second and third-generation residents displaced by rising costs. Fahmi Wants Original Residents To Get Priority In Owning Houses In Kampung Kerinchi
GENERAL KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) – Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil wants the ownership of units in any housing project including Residensi Wilayah and Residensi MADANI in the Kampung Kerinchi to prioritise buyers from Kerinchi residents. Fahmi who is also the Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament, proposed that 50 to 60 per cent of home ownership should be given to the children of Kampung Kerinchi, especially the second and third generations who are now forced to live outside the area. 'Many children from this area, including members of Persatuan Waris Kerinchi, are now living outside so we hope that through this policy, they will be able to return and resettle in their original area,' he told reporters after officiating the Kampung Kerinchi landmark in front of KL Gateway Mall, today. Fahmi said the home ownership priority policy was among several measures designed to uphold the identity and history of Kampung Kerinchi. Regarding the launching of Kampung Kerinchi landmark, Fahmi said it was a continuation of efforts that had been initiated since his first term as Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament. "My efforts do not stop here. We plan to build another landmark at the other entrance of Kampung Kerinchi and are in discussions with DBKL (Kuala Lumpur City Hall) to officially gazette this area as Kampung Kerinchi," he said.
