Spotted deer trying to cross road struck by car in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A spotted deer was fatally struck by a car while it was crossing the main road near Rajanukunte Thursday night. The accident occurred around 10.30pm in front of the KMF facility on Doddaballapur main road.
Police later handed over the carcass to the forest department.
As per preliminary investigation, a family of seven from Jeevan Bima Nagar in east Bengaluru was returning home from Sri Ghati Subramanya temple. "The driver, Prabhakar, said he was driving at a speed of 50 to 60km per hour when the car collided with the deer that was trying to leap over the road. Due to the impact, the bonnet broke open and part of it crashed into the windshield, forcing the vehicle to come to a screeching halt," a cop said.
The family said a two-wheeler rider stopped by at the scene, seeing the deer on the opposite side of the road and tried chasing it away, inadvertently directing it towards their sedan.

Varun Kumar, range forest officer, Devanahalli, said, "The forest patches, be it Jharakbande Kaval or Gunjur Palya near Varthur, are far away from the area. There could be a possibility that the deer came from the Hesaraghatta side. Our staffers had also not seen an animal in the vicinity."
N Ravindra Kumar, DCF, Bengaluru Urban, said a case has been booked under Wildlife Act and the vehicle has been seized. The accused has been released on bail. "The deer was a four to five-year-old male. We're awaiting postmortem report for further action," he said.

‘Khujli' gang targets jeweller in Bengaluru, decamps with gold worth Rs 36L
Bengaluru: The 'khujli' gang (or 'itching powder gang') is on the prowl, yet again. Specialising in distracting its targets by spraying some itchy powdery substance on them before committing thefts, the gang has resurfaced in the city after nearly three years – its latest victim being a 62-year-old jeweller, who lost 385 grams of gold worth Rs 36 lakh. 3 burglars who stole gold, valuables from political party functionary's house in Bengaluru, arrested
Bengaluru: Jayanagar police have arrested three burglars who stole over 1kg of gold from the house of a political party functionary. The gang, consisting of Raghu alias Pepsi Raghu, 25, from Raghuvanahalli; Jai Deepa alias Jangli, 25, from Nayandahalli; and Mithun alias Milky, 24, from Tyagarajanagar; was apprehended after they stole gold ornaments, silver, cash, and other valuables. The leader of the gang is Raghu, and the trio has been involved in more than 11 cases and were arrested in the past. The burglary took place at the house of TS Vasanth Kumar Bhavani, a resident of 6th Main Road in Jayanagar 5th Block. Vasanth, in his complaint to Jayanagar police, stated on July 20, around 4.30pm, he locked the house and went to the airport to drop his son. They returned around 8pm to find the front door ajar. Upon entering the house, they found all the almirahs in bedrooms open. He stated valuables worth Rs 1 crore, including more than 1kg of gold, silver articles, a wristwatch, and Rs 50,000 in cash, were missing. Police inspector Deepak R and his team swung into action. They have largely committed burglaries in south Bengaluru, including in Banashankari, Konankunte, JP Nagar and Subramanyapura. The gang uses the money from stolen goods for a lavish lifestyle.
