Where did Texas A&M finish in this year's Learfield Directors' Cup final standings?
The Aggies finished the most recent athletics year in the top 25 for the 19th consecutive year, as Texas A&M earned a No. 15 finish. That mark places the programs in College Station as the No. 7 team in the Southeastern Conference and the sixth time in the last decade that the Aggies finished in the top 15 of the Learfield Directors' Cup.
The competition originated in 1993 and was created to rank programs based on the athletic department's overall success competing during the athletic calendar year in national competition. Texas A&M's highest ranking in program history was in 2012-2013, in which the program ranked as No. 5 in the country and recorded 1131.50 points for its performances against other programs across the country.
During the 2024-2025 athletics year, the Aggies secured an NCAA Championship in men's outdoor track and field, while also finishing top 20 in men's golf, men's swimming and diving, men's basketball and softball. Texas A&M's equestrian team also advanced to the semifinals of the NCEA Championship.

Following the announcement of Texas A&M's finish in this year's cup, athletic director Trev Alberts expressed his thoughts on where the Aggies' accomplishments and where its programs are headed in the future.
"I firmly believe that the future is incredibly bright for Texas A&M as collegiate athletics continues to evolve," Alberts said. "We are dedicated to a culture that is focused on giving our programs all of the resources they need to compete for championships, and I am grateful that here at Texas A&M we are well-positioned moving forward to achieve that goal."
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed by USA TODAY and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). As a new calendar year is due up, starting with soccer and then football, the Aggies will look to secure its 20th season with a top 25 finish in the cup.

Few players, if any, have had better summers than Ethan Fang. The Oklahoma State standout helped the Cowboys to an NCAA Championship in late May before flying across the pond and becoming the first American to win the British Amateur in nearly 20 years. After narrowly missing the cut at The Open, Fang co-medaled at this week's Western Amateur before storming through to the final with convincing wins over Huge Le Goff and Jacob Modleski, plus a hard-fought 3-and-1 result against Ben James. Like James, Fang is already on the U.S. Walker Cup team that will compete at Cypress Point this September. So, too, are Jackson Koivun, Michael La Sasso and Preston Stout, which leaves five spots still up for grabs. But on Saturday afternoon at Skokie Country Club, Jase Summy entered the chat. Summy, a rising senior at Oklahoma, dominated Fang, 6 and 5, to win the 123rd edition of the Western Amateur and tie the championship record for largest margin of victory in a final, equaling 6-and-5 marks by Phelps B. Hoyt (1901 over Bruce D. Smith) and John Klauk (2002 over Adam Rubinson). 'This is the biggest win of my life – by far,' Summy said. 'I knew my game was there, but I hadn't quite broken through. Today, I did.' Fang, ranked third in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, took just one hole against Summy, whom he grew up playing junior golf against in Texas. Fresh off a 19-hole victory over Florida's Zack Swanwick, Summy won five of the last six to end things before the 14th hole. 'It was a good week,' Fang said. 'Stroke play went great, and I was proud to co-medal. I did my best to stay focused, but I got a little tired and a little loose near the end. It didn't go my way, but that's golf.' Summy is projected to rise to seventh in the world, and with a T-3 at the Southern Amateur and T-12 at the Northeast Amateur this summer following a junior season that included a win and six other top-10s, he should feel confident about getting the call for Cypress. The final five Walker Cuppers are named after the U.S. Amateur, which begins a week from Monday at Olympic Club in San Francisco. With his win, Summy also received a sponsor exemption into next summer's NV5 Invitational, the Korn Ferry Tour stop outside of Chicago. 'This was a long, tough week,' Summy added. 'I prepared the right way, mentally and physically. I know I'm on the right path.'

Colorado football's 2026 offer letters are out of this world
Deion Sanders is quite possibly college football's leader when it comes to swag, and he has brought every ounce of his bravado to the Colorado Buffaloes football team. He has brought in refreshed uniforms, new gear and a superior culture that was severely lacking before his arrival. The offer letter includes trading cards of each coach on Colorado's staff, with each emphasizing the NFL experience that is so abundant. Each card features a picture of the coach with their former NFL team, along with a couple of seemingly exclusive cards of Deion Sanders himself. It truly is a unique and creative way to showcase the coaching talent currently in Boulder to recruits. Each letter also comes with a personalized trading card that resembles a one-of-one collectible card. Steelers inquired about potential Terry McLaurin trade, but one holdup remains, per report
The Terry McLaurin to Pittsburgh rumors are heating up — as a new report has indicated the Steelers have reached out to the Washington Commanders about a possible trade. According to DK Pittsburgh Sports' Chris Halicke, sources say Steelers GM Omar Khan reached out to the Washington Commanders to inquire about McLaurin's availability — but financial obligations may hold up a deal. "In reaching out to the Commanders, the Steelers learned that McLaurin not only wants to be paid like a true No. 1 receiver, which is expected, he wants to be a true No. 1 receiver on whatever team he plays on in 2025 and beyond," Halicke wrote. "With the Steelers having DK Metcalf signed to a five-year, $150 million contract, they've committed to him as their No. 1 receiver." ESPN's Adam Schefter previously echoed a similar sentiment — revealing on The Pat McAfee Show that McLaurin wants to surpass Metcalf's $33 million per season. Still, Khan's inquiry is an exciting development — one that should come as no surprise considering the blockbuster moves made by Pittsburgh this offseason.
