Oasis: Probe after 'hundreds' sneak into Wembley Stadium concert

BBC News4 days ago
Wembley Stadium authorities said they were investigating allegations that hundreds of Oasis fans were able to sneak into a gig at the venue without a ticket. The Mancunian rockers recently played a series of dates there as part of their Live 25 tour.According to The Sun, up to 200 people were asked for £350 each to be sneaked into one of the gigs via a disabled entrance. Two concertgoers told the paper a large group was able to use a copy of the same ticket to get into the stadium, where they were then handed wristbands giving them access to the VIP area at the front of the stage.
They said two women who allegedly orchestrated the scam told them they had "10 groups of 20" waiting. One of the concertgoers told The Sun: "We were given our tickets, which were all the same, and a woman drew a shape on our hands."We were told to go to the disabled door at entrance M, even though our tickets said entrance F."We showed our stamped hands to the person on the door, they scanned the tickets, even though we all had the same one, and let us in."Another member of staff then handed us a golden circle wristband and that was it. There were zero security searches. We just walked straight in."
A spokesperson for Wembley Stadium said in a statement: "Entering Wembley Stadium without a ticket is a serious offence and we are investigating these allegations."If they are substantiated, we will refer our evidence to the police."Oasis' run of concerts at Wembley between 25 July and 3 August was the first time Liam and Noel Gallagher appeared together on stage at the London venue since July 12 2009, when they performed during the Dig Out Your Soul tour. The band are playing at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium this weekend, followed by Dublin's Croke Park. The group will head to Japan, South Korea, South America, Australia and North America later in the year.Oasis announced their reunion tour in August last year, 16 years after their dramatic split in 2009, which saw Noel quit following a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris.

International manhunt launched for paedophile, 23, who fled the UK during his trial

Police have launched an international manhunt for a paedophile from Bury who fled the country during his trial. Hassan Mahmood was found guilty of four counts of child sexual offences following a four-day trial, but the 23-year-old fled the UK on the second day in court, with the trial continuing in his absence. He is a wanted man and is being actively sought by Greater Manchester Police, who warned: 'We don't know where Mahmood is, but we are determined to find him no matter where he thinks he can hide.' At Manchester Crown Court, Mahmood of Gigg Lane, Bury, was guilty on four counts of child sexual offences. The charges included namely engaging in penetrative sexual activity with girl under 13; causing a child under 13 to watch/look at an image of sexual activity; engaging in sexual activity in presence of a child under 13 and engaging in sexual communication with a child. Anyone with information about Mahmood's whereabouts should contact the police or Crimestoppers anonymously as efforts to trace him continue. Detective Constable, Shaheen Saleh, from GMP's Child Criminal Exploitation Team, said: 'Hassan Mahmood committed this abhorrent crime and has now been found guilty. He has cowardly thought he can evade justice by fleeing the country. 'Mahmood is only prolonging the inevitable outcome, and we will do all we can to make sure he faces the full consequences of his actions. 'We are unwavering in our commitment to protecting children and are offering our full support to the victim and their family during this time. 'Anyone with information should contact the police either online or via 101. You can anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.'

CLAUDIA CONNELL: Meghan's back, with love. And the big reveal? Harry hates lobster!

Get ready to 'elevate' that ham sandwich and scatter flower sprinkles on your spag bol, because Meghan Markle is back to enrich our lives with a second series of her lifestyle show. During the first episodes of With Love, Meghan, which aired in March, the duchess's culinary tips included how to plate up a takeaway and tie a bow around a bag of shop-bought pretzels. And, if this trailer promoting series two is anything to go by, things look set to be just as ridiculous. In the same week it was revealed that Harry and Meghan's Netflix deal has been 'downgraded', the Duchess of Sussex shows her skills slicing bread, crumbling cheese, cutting a cucumber and washing fruit. Groundbreaking. 'There are easy ways to show up lovingly,' she tells the audience in her trademark gobbledygook, as she packs what look like Jammie Dodgers into a cardboard box and ties string around them. 'I love finding new ways to show people you care,' she trills. The eight-part series airs on August 26 and comes just five months after the first. Both were filmed at the same time. A 'holiday' special has been recorded too, for the Christmas period. Netflix will surely be hoping that this follow-up performs better than the first instalment, which was mercilessly mocked by critics and failed to crack the streaming giant's top 300 programmes. Netflix claims: 'Meghan returns with a fun and heartwarming new season, welcoming celebrity chefs, talented artists and beloved friends for hands-on adventures filled with laughter and discovery ... Meghan and her guests explore bold flavours, experiment with new techniques, and discover simple ways to add beauty to everyday life.' Special guests include: model and TV producer Chrissy Teigen, American chef Christina Tosi, British Michelin-starred chef Clare Smyth, restaurateur David Chang, British-Indian podcaster Jay Shetty and former Queer Eye presenter Tan France. Not quite A-list, then, and some of her guests aren't without controversies of their own. Teigen, who is married to singer John Legend and has her own food brand, Cravings, is shown in Meghan's home 'getting creative and learning something new'. 'Little things like this make me so happy,' gushes Teigen who, four years ago, had to issue an apology for her earlier cyber-bullying of US reality star Courtney Stodden, who was then just a teenager. As well as prepping food, we see Meghan arrange flowers, sit with a potter's wheel between her legs and make what might be a tea towel (it's hard to tell). Harry is nowhere to be seen –this is Meghan's baby – but he gets a passing mention when she tells chef Jose Andres that Harry doesn't eat lobster.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with rape after a teenager was allegedly attacked at a park. The teenage boy has been charged after a 17-year-old girl was reportedly attacked at Cripplegate Park in Worcester. The attack reportedly took place near the tennis courts at around 2am on Sunday, August 11. Police tape was seen at the park on Monday as police began investigating. The boy, is due to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates Court on Wednesday. He cannot be named for legal reasons due to his age. The location is close to Worcester Cricket Club and the area was busy over the weekend with families attending the Worcester Show. On Monday a scene guard was placed near the tennis courts in Cripplegate Park while police gathered evidence and carried out forensic inquiries. Det Supt Garner said previously: 'I understand that this news will be unsettling for the local community. 'Please be assured that we're treating the incident incredibly seriously and are following all lines of enquiry.
