Maharashtra fuel costs dip slightly amid persistent high rates
The latest petrol and diesel rates, effective from 6 AM today, June 27, 2025, have been officially announced statewide. Authorities urge motorists to verify the updated costs specific to their location before refuelling.
While providing modest relief, today's figures confirm petrol continues to exceed 104 rupees per litre across most major urban centres in the state, with diesel generally priced above 91 rupees.
Notable examples include Ahmednagar at 104.59 rupees for petrol and 91.12 for diesel, Akola at 104.64 and 91.18 rupees, and Amravati at 104.88 and 91.41 rupees respectively. Aurangabad reports petrol at 104.53 and diesel at 91.05 rupees.
Regional variations persist. Bhandara's petrol costs 104.67 rupees, while Beed sees a higher rate of 105.50 rupees; diesel in these cities is priced at 91.21 and 92.03 rupees respectively. Mumbai City offers the lowest observed petrol price at 103.50 rupees and diesel at 90.03 rupees.
Conversely, Nandurbar recorded the highest petrol price at 105.97 rupees, with Palghar seeing the peak diesel cost of 99.43 rupees. Other cities like Buldhana, Chandrapur, Dhule, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Hingoli, Jalgaon, Jalna, Kolhapur, Latur, Nagpur, Nanded, Nashik, Osmanabad, Parbhani, Pune, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sangli, Satara, Sindhudurg, Solapur, Thane, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal show petrol prices ranging within this spectrum.
These daily fluctuations are driven primarily by volatile international crude oil markets, compounded by local factors including Value-Added Tax (VAT), state levies, and transportation expenses. The slight decrease noted today offers consumers a minor respite, though rates remain substantially elevated. Fuel prices are dynamically adjusted each morning to reflect prevailing global and domestic market conditions.

DGAQA accords flight clearance to LCA Tejas Mk1A from HAL's Nashik division
New Delhi, Aug 11 (UNI) The Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance (DGAQA) has accorded flight clearance to the indigenously-manufactured Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas from the Nashik division of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), marking a significant milestone in de-centralising aircraft production and expanding India's strategic aerospace capabilities. The Flight Clearance Document was handed over to Executive Director, HAL Nashik Division by ADG, AQA. Nashik, renowned for its legacy in manufacturing and sustaining fighter fleets, has now evolved into a key hub for indigenous aircraft production. Hosting the third LCA production line outside Bengaluru, this de-centralised set-up enhances operational flexibility and aligns with India's broader defence preparedness and strategic autonomy goals. OADG Nashik played a pivotal role in the successful absorption of Transfer of Technology for LCA manufacturing. The office led the redesign and modification of tools and fixtures, transformed legacy work centres, and facilitated a cultural & technical shift in aerospace philosophies. Upholding stringent quality assurance standards, the team ensured the production of over 5,000 high-precision components, in-house loom manufacturing, Line Replacement Units testing, and exhaustive pre-installation and assembly checks. Round-the-clock support was extended to mission-critical operations including Right-First-Time ground runs, snag rectification, and final system readiness, culminating in the successful flight clearance. Microsoft set to shut down its ‘Lens App' amid AI taking centre stage
New Delhi, Aug 11 (UNI) Microsoft announced that the tech giant will remove its 'Lens app' from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store starting from September 15. 'Microsoft Lens', formerly known as 'Microsoft Office Lens', was a mobile app allowing users to capture and enhance the quality of images of documents, whiteboards, and other text-based materials. This sophisticated app also comes up with advanced features, including text recognition and integrative capabilities with other products, including OneDrive and OneNote. Regarding the app's departure, an official statement from Microsoft said, 'The Microsoft Lens app will be retired from iOS and Android devices starting September 15, 2025. After November 15, Microsoft Lens will no longer be supported. Users can continue to use the scanning capability in the app until December 15, 2025. 'After that date, creating new scans in the Lens app will no longer be possible. However, users can continue to access their previous scans as long as the app remains installed on their device," the official statement added. Microsoft hasn't yet stated the reason behind the lens app shutdown, but experts are pointing towards the integration of AI in the operational processes of the company. Lok Sabha to tackle key legislative agenda today: Tax Overhaul, Sports Governance, and Ports Bill
New Delhi, Aug 11 (UNI) The Lok Sabha proceedings will begin at 11 am today with a packed agenda, including multiple committee reports, ministerial statements, and important legislative business. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be introducing the revised Income-tax Bill, 2025, in the Lok Sabha, replacing the original draft tabled on February 13, 2025. The Finance Act, 2025, has increased the income threshold for claiming a tax rebate under Section 87A of the Income Tax Act, 1961, for resident individuals taxable under the new tax regime (Section 115BAC) from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 12 lakh. The maximum rebate amount has been raised from Rs 25,000 to Rs 60,000. The earlier version of the bill was formally withdrawn, drawing criticism over the time and effort spent on its drafting. The government, however, maintains that the move is aimed at ensuring legislative clarity and efficiency. On the legislative front, the House will consider and likely to pass three significant bills. The National Sports Governance Bill, 2025, introduced by Mansukh Mandaviya, seeks to promote sports development, the welfare of sportspersons, and ethical practices aligned with the Olympic and Paralympic Charters. The House will also discuss the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025 aiming to amend the National Anti-Doping Act, 2022. Another legislative Bill that will be discussed is the Indian Ports Bill, 2025. The purpose of the bill is to consolidate port laws, promote integrated port development, establish State Maritime Boards and a Maritime State Development Council as well as address environmental and security concerns, and provide mechanisms for resolving port-related disputes. Among the key reports that are likely to be presented is the Eighth Report of the Standing Committee on External Affairs, titled Evaluation of India's Indian Ocean Strategy. The Standing Committee on Finance will table its twenty-fifth report on the Evolving Role of the Competition Commission of India in the Economy, Particularly the Digital Landscape, authored by Bhartruhari Mahtab and Thiru Arun Nehru. The Standing Committee on Railways will present two reports: one on the construction and maintenance of rail tunnels and bridges, and another on action taken regarding Demands for Grants (2025–26). The Standing Committee on Water Resources, represented by Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Rodmal Nagar, will present four action-taken reports on Demands for Grants (2024–25 and 2025–26) for the Departments of Drinking Water & Sanitation and Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation.
