5 most important players on Seahawks offense entering 2025
The Seattle Seahawks made sweeping changes to their offense this offseason. New offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak has been hired to install his scheme. The belief is that Kubiak's system will lead to offensive improvement for the Seahawks in 2025.
With that in mind, we've identified the five most important Seahawks players on offense.
Sam Darnold, QB
The Seahawks swapped out Geno Smith for Sam Darnold at QB this offseason. Darnold signed a three-year, $100.5 million contract in free agency. The belief is that his balanced approach will lead to more consistent results offensively. John Schneider and Mike Macdonald are placing their trust in the 2024 Pro Bowl selection.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR
Jaxon Smith-Njigba broke out as a sophomore to record 100 receptions and 1,130 receiving yards last season. The former Ohio State standout enters his third campaign as the unquestioned No. 1 receiver for the first time following DK Metcalf's trade to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Cooper Kupp, WR
Speaking of Metcalf, Cooper Kupp was signed in free agency to help replace the outgoing pass catcher. Kupp plays a very different game from Metcalf stylistically, but he'll be Kubiak's top option to soak up the leftover passing-game targets. The Seahawks believe the Super Bowl LVI MVP still has something left in the tank.
Charles Cross, LT
The Seahawks recently exercised Charles Cross' fifth-year option, keeping him under contract through at least 2026. It's no surprise, given Cross' consistent play as the Seahawks' best offensive linemen. Talks could shift to a long-term extension.
Grey Zabel, LG
Schneider drafted Grey Zabel at No. 18 overall in the 2025 NFL draft. Zabel is being counted on to help upgrade an offensive line that struggled mightily throughout the 2024 campaign. His rookie-year contribution could help dictate the overall state of the O-line.

Jacksonville Jaguars sign P Logan Cooke to four-year contract extension

Jacksonville Jaguars sign P Logan Cooke to four-year contract extension The Jacksonville Jaguars announced on Monday that they've signed punter Logan Cooke to an extension. Ahead of minicamp starting on Tuesday, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced on Monday that they've signed punter Logan Cooke to an extension. On Cooke's original deal, he was entering the final year of his contract and was set to be a free agent in 2026. The team announced that this is a four-year extension, which will keep Cooke in Jacksonville through the 2029 season. Cooke is coming off a 2024 season where he was named to his first Pro Bowl, along with being named a second-team All-Pro. On the year, Cooke averaged almost 50 yards per punt attempt, and his net average of 44.8 yards per punt was the second-best in the NFL. By PFF's tracking data, Cooke was also in the top five in punts downed inside the 20-yard line and had just three touchbacks the entire year. Cooke was 12th among punters in return rate as well, with he and the Jaguars' punt coverage unit as a whole limiting opportunities for opponents. Colston Loveland Spotted in Uniform as Bears Monitor Injury Comeback

Colston Loveland Spotted in Uniform as Bears Monitor Injury Comeback originally appeared on Athlon Sports. OTAs are rolling along at Halas Hall, and while a handful of Bears are still nursing injuries—T.J. Edwards, Kyler Gordon, Luther Burden III, Shemar Turner, Braxton Jones, and Ryan Bates among them—there was one moment that stood out. A highly-touted rookie, recovering from shoulder surgery, was seen suited up and walking with staff to the practice fields. It wasn't a full return, but it was a clear step in the right direction. Advertisement Colston Loveland, the 10th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and first tight end taken, has been on the mend since undergoing shoulder surgery earlier this year. Out of Michigan, Loveland was known for being a mismatch nightmare and is projected to play a big role in Ben Johnson's offense, especially with Caleb Williams heading into year two. Bears Coach Ben JohnsonGetty Images According to Just Another Year Chicago: Bears, there's reason for optimism. Adam Jahns of The Athletic reported: 'Rookie tight end Colston Loveland could be getting closer to returning after shoulder surgery,' Jahns wrote. 'He was spotted in uniform, accompanying staff members to other practice fields at Halas Hall while the rest of the team practiced on Fields 1 and 2.' Loveland himself sounded encouraged when he spoke during his introductory press conference on April 25: 'Six months was the timetable. We're three out right now. And it feels great. I got full range of motion and everything. I can do really everything but just like super heavy weight. ... We're in a good spot.' Colston Loveland© Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images Seeing Loveland back out there—even if just in uniform—is a great sign for Chicago. With Ben Johnson building a scheme designed to elevate Williams, having a versatile weapon like Loveland trending toward a return only strengthens what the Bears are putting together on offense. Eagles named as top landing spot for star CB Jaire Alexander

Eagles named as top landing spot for star CB Jaire Alexander Jaire Alexander could be headed to Philadelphia after being released by the Packers The Green Bay Packers are parting ways with two-time Pro Bowl defensive back Jaire Alexander after seven seasons. Alexander has missed at least 10 games in three of his last four seasons, but he's still one of the best in the NFL when healthy. Alexander played just seven games in 2024, marking the second straight season in which he missed at least 10 games due to injury. The former Pro Bowler also played just four games in 2021. This spring, general manager Brian Gutekunst told the media that Alexander's absences have been "tough on the player [and] tough on the organization," which signed the cornerback to an $84 million extension in 2022. Alexander is expected to draw significant interest from several teams on the open market. Could the Philadelphia Eagles be an option? Pro Football Focus named the Eagles as one of six potential landing spots for the former first-round pick. We have to throw this one in here because, well, it's the Eagles. Part of their run to the Super Bowl last year was capitalizing on players like this becoming available and forming the best team in the league. Alexander was also born in Philadelphia, though he grew up mostly in North Carolina. The Eagles have Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean in their secondary, two players who were excellent as rookie starters in 2024. But they did lose Darius Slay, as well as Isaiah Rodgers, from their Super Bowl secondary. Perhaps Alexander would take a big discount to be the veteran in the room for a team looking for another title. CBS Sports has also identified Philadelphia as a possible destination. Philly is always aggressive in going after high-level talent, and Alexander fits the bill. He does even more so because the Eagles allowed both Darius Slay and Isaiah Rodgers to leave for greener pastures in free agency this offseason, leaving them with Kelee Ringo or Adoree' Jackson as their other starting corner across from 2024 first-rounder Quinyon Mitchell. Adding Alexander to the mix would allow them to better replicate what they had last year with Mitchell, Slay and slot corner Cooper DeJean. When healthy, Alexander is one of the best cornerbacks in football. He was named second-team All-Pro in 2022 after recording 14 pass breakups and five interceptions, but injuries hampered Alexander's final years in Green Bay. The 28-year-old has been limited to just 34 games over the last four seasons and missed the final eight contests in 2024. The Eagles are taking chances on a few oft-injured players next season (ex., Azeez Ojulari), would they bring in Alexander? Current DBs coach Christian Parker worked with Alexander for two years in Green Bay, and they maintain a great relationship. If Kelee Ringo or Adoree' Jackson underwhelm in training camp, Alexander could be another low-risk, high-reward signing for GM Howie Roseman, money permitting. 'He has been a great player for us,' Packers president Mark Murphy said. 'Obviously, elite talent. Unfortunately, just injured a lot. Unfortunately that's a big part of the game.'
