As someone who frequently watched music videos on CMT while growing up, I'll never forget the first time I saw Miranda Lambert walking down a long winding road in her Mama Tried tank top, with her hoop earrings dangling alongside her messy long blonde hair, threatening her no-good-ex-boyfriend with a tin of kerosene in hand. I don't think I had ever seen anyone look so cool.
The music video for her hit song "Kerosene" became iconic, and teenage girls everywhere wanted to look as cool and pissed off as Lambert did. Since the song came out in 2005, the country singer's look was very reminiscent of the grungy-glam trend at the time with messy, wavy hair and smoky makeup. With a little bit of Texas added to it, of course.
Now, twenty years later, the country singer is celebrating the title track that helped launch her career. She released the album on vinyl for the first time and has been sharing fun mementos on social media from that time in her career, including a new take on the iconic "Kerosene" music video look.$31.99 at walmart.com$37.99 at gypsyville.com
She even shared a video of her hairstylist Johnny recreating the look with a little modern twist. First of all, he uses three different hot tools to get the messy, lived in waves. First up is the Trademark Beauty Hair Waver, he also uses the Olivia Garden 1 Inch Curling Iron, and the 1/4 Hot Tools Curling Iron, which is incredibly hard to come by these days. So, I recommend the 1/2 Hot Tools Curling Iron, or the Hot & Hotter 1/4 Curling Iron to get the same kind of look. However, Johnny says the waver and a small curling iron should get the job done.
And to get the "Big 'ole Texas hair" as Lambert called it, Johnny mentioned using a volumizing product to prep your hair before. Then, curl a small piece of your hair with the 1/4-inch curling iron, wrap the top half of your hair one way around the iron, take it out, and wrap the bottom half of the same piece of hair the opposite way. Then, use your fingers to pull on the end of your hair a bit to let the curl fall out a little. Repeat this throughout the rest of your hair until you get the "Kerosene" look. Curling your hair this way creates a cool texture and gives a more natural and messy look. I'm assuming Johnny incorporates the Hair Waver every now and then to mix up the texture even more and create different style of waves all around her hair. Johnny also used the Oribe Dry Texture Spray and Oribe Beach Spray in Miranda's hair and gave it a bit of a zhuzh with his hands to make it even more messy. And don't forget to tease it to Jesus, y'all.
Lambert has been rocking this throwback look for all kinds of events recently and fans are obsessed.. You can get all of the products mentioned and join in on the "Kerosene" fun, or just because you simply love the look like I do.$89.00 at amazon.com$26.96 at amazon.com$63.99 at amazon.com$24.00 at amazon.com$52.00 at amazon.com$44.38 at amazon.com

Chris Pratt pulled into Katy Perry legal drama over $15 million mansion as trial gets underway

Chris Pratt has been named as a potential witness in Katy Perry's ongoing legal battle with the former owner of her $15 million Montecito mansion. In July 2020, the 'Firework' pop star, 40, and her now-ex Orlando Bloom purchased the sprawling, 8.9-acre estate from 86-year-old Carl Westcott, the founder of 1-800-Flowers. However, shortly afterward, Westcott tried to back out of the deal, claiming he was mentally incapacitated when he sold them the property. Perry and Westcott have been locked in a bitter legal dispute ever since. The first part of the trial, which has been split into two phases, took place in November 2023, and saw a judge side with Perry, upholding the original sale contract. The trial, which picked up again Thursday, has now entered the damages phase. Perry, who in 2024 paid $9 million in escrow once she gained ownership of the home, is seeking the remaining $6 million in damages from Westcott. She has claimed that in the four years she had to wait to take control of the house, she lost $3 million in fair-market rental income, per Rolling Stone. She further alleges that Westcott's 'lack of maintenance' for the property during that time, cost her $2.29 million in necessary repairs to restore the home to the state it was in when she first purchased it. Perry has been ordered to testify at this month's trial. While Pratt, who has been renting and residing in the property with his family, has not yet been deposed, Westcott's legal team has reportedly asked the judge to question the Guardians of the Galaxy actor about the mansion's supposed damages. Court documents filed July 31 by Westcott and seen by Fox News Digital stated: 'Now, just before the Phase 2 Trial, there is new, never-before disclosed evidence that Perry has rented out the Westcott Property to the actor Chris Pratt and his wife (the daughter of Maria Shriver, who the Court will recall from Cristal Clarke's Phase 1 Trial testimony was bidding against Perry in 2020 to buy the Westcott Property, which is why Perry increased her original $13.5 offer to Westcott to the agreed-on $15 million price). 'The $2.29 million in estimated repairs was bogus and Perry was able to rent the Westcott Property as-is to Chris Pratt (for what some have rumored to be $150,000 in rent just for this summer).' The Independent has contacted Pratt's representative for further comment. Speaking to the publication about the case, legal expert Christopher C. Melcher explained: 'Westcott's defense is that the home could not have had mold and other major issues because Perry rented the place to Chris Pratt. 'But repairs could have been made by Perry before renting the home to Pratt,' he noted. 'If so, the subsequent condition of the home when Pratt was a tenant is not relevant to what the home looked like when Perry got the keys.' Westcott had initially asked the judge to call on Bloom as a witness to testify about the cost of the repairs, but the judge denied his request. 'Why do you need Mr. Bloom to do that, other than to make it a celebrity circus?' Judge Joseph Lipner asked at an earlier hearing. 'Why don't you just talk to the construction person who actually did it?'

Serena Williams Shows Off Her Figure in Bright Yellow Swimsuit After Announcing Weight Loss from GLP-1

NEED TO KNOW Serena Williams posed confidently for a series of swimsuit photos seen in an Instagram carousel uploaded on Thursday, Aug. 21 The tennis star's post came soon after she discussed her successful weight loss, revealing that she used a GLP-1 medication to help and has since lost over 31 lbs. Williams also opened up about body positivity, her self-confidence and losing the weight Serena Williams is radiating both inside and out! The retired tennis star, 43, confidently shined in a yellow bathing suit for a series of Instagram photos shared shortly after she opened up to PEOPLE about her weight loss journey with a GLP-1 medication during an exclusive interview. The images featured Williams striking several poses while standing in knee-deep waters, wearing a yellow, one-piece swimsuit with a cutout in the center and an untied bowtie. She accessorized with a green bandana around her neck and black shades. The 23-time Grand Slam champion stood strong, smiling with her hands on her hips in the first shot, spread her arms out wide for the playful, candid second snap and turned slightly profile with her arm back down by her side for a third picture. She added a selfie of herself to conclude her carousel, which showed off floral details on her green bandana and accessories. She threw her hand up into the air, freely, while her blonde tendrils gently blew in her face. "melanin mellow-yellow ⚠️," she captioned the Instagram carousel, uploaded on Thursday, Aug. 21. Prior to her Instagram post, the tennis icon — who shares Olympia, 6, and Adira, 1, with her husband, Alexis Ohanian — opened up about her weight loss journey, revealing that she has been using a GLP-1 medication to help with weight loss and has since lost over 31 lbs. "I feel great," she told PEOPLE exclusively in August. "I feel really good and healthy. I feel light physically and light mentally." Williams says her struggle with weight began after she gave birth to her first daughter, Olympia, in 2017, and her body started to change postpartum. "I never was able to get to the weight I needed to be, no matter what I did, no matter how much I trained,' she explained. "It was crazy because I'd never been in a place like that in my life where I worked so hard, ate so healthy and could never get down to where I needed to be at." The decorated athlete noted how she's always put in the physical work, but the outcome was different post-pregnancy. "I had never taken shortcuts in my career and always worked really hard. I know what it takes to be the best," she made known. "So it was very frustrating to do all the same things and never be able to change that number on the scale or the way my body looked." Williams welcomed her second child, daughter Adira River, in August 2023, and experienced similar struggles to her first after giving birth again. She was able to lose a lot of weight in two weeks, but then remained stagnant afterwards. "I never lost another pound," she revealed. That's when she decided to turn to Ro, a direct-to-patient healthcare company, for additional support with a GLP-1 treatment. GLP-1 is short for glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists, which work in the brain to impact satiety. Popular brands include Ozempic and Mounjaro. Prior to using it, Williams said she "did a lot of research on it" to understand the benefits and additional positive and/or negative effects, and also confided in her doctor to ensure it was right for her. The Olympic gold medalist was able to start the weekly injections about six months after Adira was born, when she stopped breastfeeding in early 2024. Since her weight loss, she said she feels better than ever. "I just can do more. I'm more active. My joints don't hurt as much," she shared, though noted that her confidence and self-love has stayed the same. "Weight loss should never really change your self image," she told PEOPLE. "Women often experience judgment about their bodies at any size, and I'm no stranger to that. So I feel like you should love yourself at any size and any look." Read the original article on People

Serena Williams shocked fans with her new, slim selfie. Here's her secret

No shame in her game. Serena Williams is coming clean about how she lost a dramatic amount of weight. Fans were shocked the other day by Williams' Instagram selfie, dressed in a tummy baring crop top and Grecian skirt, looking like a real life 'Incredible Shrinking Woman,' 2025 edition. Some commenters on her post didn't even recognize her. Some thought she was ill. Others assumed she was on a trendy weight loss drug like the rest of Hollywood. Ding, ding, ding! The tennis champion did indeed use a GLP-1 to achieve that svelte body. Originally developed for type 2 diabetes, meds such as semaglutide (e.g., Ozempic, Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro and Zepbound) work by mimicking the hormone glucagon-like peptide 1, which is released in our gut when we eat, and makes us feel full. Long story short: the magic shot makes you forget about food for a while. Williams is totally owning it, too. 'I feel really good and healthy,' she told People magazine in a new interview. 'I feel light physically and light mentally.' The Palm Beach Gardens resident explained her rationale for going the non-natural route. Despite how much she worked out and dieted, the scale didn't budge the way it used to, pre-kids. First daughter Olympia (with husband Alexis Ohanian) was born in September 2017; Adira came along six years later (the tot turns 2 on Friday). In late 2024, Williams had literally enough of carrying around those extra pounds. To get motivated, she launched an online 'denim skirt challenge,' determined to fit into a cute Valentino creation she acquired before becoming a mom. Thanks to grinding at the gym and making the right choices with food, the 43-year-old champ saw major gains (as in losses), but still had a ways to go. 'I never was able to get to the weight I needed to be no matter what I did, no matter how much I trained,' she told the outlet. 'It was crazy because I'd never been in a place like that in my life where I worked so hard.'' When she finally came to terms with the fact she needed medical intervention, Williams did her homework. The California native became a spokesperson for direct-to-patient online pharmacy Ro to find the right treatment plan, which turned out to be Zepbound. 'I did a lot of research on it. I was like, 'Is this a shortcut? What are the benefits? What are not the benefits?' I really wanted to dive into it before I just did it.' Not only does Williams have no regrets after shedding 31 pounds, she wants to help others who may be hesitant to jump on the bandwagon themselves. 'GLP-1 helped me enhance everything that I was already doing — eating healthy and working out, whether it was as a professional athlete at the top level of tennis or just going to the gym every day,' she said of her ongoing weekly injections. 'So I think that it's important for everyone to hear my story... I feel like there's a lot of people that can relate.'
