"I welcome central government decision...": JD(U) leader KC Tyagi on all-party delegation visit to key partner countries
New Delhi [India], May 17 (ANI): Janata Dal (United) leader KC Tyagi on Saturday welcomed the central government's decision to send a seven-member all-party delegation to world capitals to brief different countries on the recent India-Pakistan tension.
'I welcome the central government decision. The all-party delegation will go to different countries and will share the entire chain of events with the world that happened after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22,' Tyagi told ANI.
After Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed willingness to engage in talks with India for peace, the JD(U) leader said, 'Until Pakistan stops supporting terrorism and running such activities, there cannot be any meaningful dialogue with them.'
Sharif extended the offer to India while interacting with the Pakistan Air Force pilots and personnel during a special visit to Kamra air base on Thursday. He said Pakistan was willing to hold talks to achieve peace, but it had certain conditions. He urged India to hold talks on the Kashmir issue, The Express Tribune reported.
A seven-member all-party delegation is set to visit key partner countries, including members of the UN Security Council, later this month in the context of Operation Sindoor and India's continued fight against cross-border terrorism.
The following Members of Parliament will lead the seven delegations: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, JDU leader Sanjay Kumar Jha, BJP leader Baijayant Panda, DMK leader Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule, and Shiv Sena leader Shrikant Eknath Shinde.
In a post on X, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that India stands united, and seven all-party Delegations will soon visit key partner nations
'In moments that matter most, Bharat stands united. Seven All-Party Delegations will soon visit key partner nations, carrying our shared message of zero tolerance to terrorism. A powerful reflection of national unity above politics, beyond differences,' Rijiju posted on X.
The All-Party Delegations will project India's national consensus and resolute approach to combating terrorism in all forms and manifestations. They would carry forth to the world the country's strong message of zero tolerance against terrorism.
Members of Parliament from different parties, prominent political personalities, and distinguished diplomats will be part of each delegation.
The tour is expected to last 10 days, commencing on May 23. The parliamentarians' groups are likely to visit several key world capitals, including the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, and Japan.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. India's precision strikes in Pakistan and PoJK on May 7 killed over 100 terrorists. (ANI)

From the Urdu Press: Rahul Gandhi's match-fixing charge, PM Modi's challenges at G 7
The Urdu press weighed in on claims by Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, also made in an op-ed in The Indian Express, that the Maharashtra Assembly election results were rigged by the ruling BJP, a charge that has been denied by the Election Commission. The dailies also highlighted the challenges for Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he attends the G7 conference in Canada later this month. URDU TIMES In its June 9 editorial titled 'Is the Election Commission a threat to democracy?', Urdu Times notes that the EC has not officially denied Gandhi's statement, with poll panel sources saying the commission would first wait for the Congress MP to write to them or seek a meeting so far on poll data. The editorial adds: 'During his visit to Bihar, Rahul Gandhi said the 'match-fixing' of Haryana and Maharashtra will now be repeated in Bihar as well. Though the Election Commission is giving its clarification on the issue, BJP leaders are getting uncomfortable. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra even said that those who people rejected electorally are blaming the government elected by the people.' The daily writes that the Congress counter is that the party has been seeking party-level voting data since 2023. 'We have moved the court for this. The court had also ordered that the data be provided. After dilly-dallying, the Election Commission has now said that it is ready to provide the data,' Urdu Times writes, adding that as Congress general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala has called 'the silence and inaction of the Election Commission are an alarm bell for the democratic system'. 'And now the Election Commission's agreement to provide the data is proof that the EC is not an independent institution but is working on someone's instructions,' the editorial says. ROZNAMA RASHTRIYA SAHARA Prime Minister Narendra Modi faces a challenge at the G7 conference in Canada where he is headed, notes the Rashtriya Sahara in its editorial dated June 9. It goes on to note that Modi did not get an invite initially, with the Congress party dubbing this a diplomatic blunder. While Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney eventually did invite his Indian counterpart, pointing to India's status as the fifth largest economy in the world, the editorial says, there is no denying the steep deterioration in India-Canadian ties in the recent past. 'Now, questions are being raised about the invite to PM Modi for the meeting. Apart from the Canadian political party NDP, the World Sikh Organization has also raised questions about Carney's decision,' the daily writes. PM Modi is set to be under scrutiny over Operation Sindoor, which India launched to hit terror targets across the border in retaliation to a Pahalgam terror attack, the editorial says. 'US President Donald Trump has repeatedly announced that he has brokered a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. India has never confirmed or denied Donald Trump's claim. Opposition parties have also strongly criticised as to why the ceasefire was suddenly declared when the Army was doing well, wondering whether this was due to US intervention.' The daily adds that their meeting at the G7 would be Modi and US President Donald Trump's first after Operation Sindoor, and wonders what strategy would Modi adopt to address concerns back home and internationally.

CM, Deputy CM, HM must resign for dark episode in history of Karnataka: B.Y. Vijayendra
Shivamogga Terming the death of 11 persons in the stampede during celebrations of RCB's win in the IPL tourney as a dark episode in the history of Karnataka, BJP State unit president B.Y. Vijayendra demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar and Home Minister G. Parameshwara. In a press conference in Shivamogga on June 10, Mr. Vijayendra said that he had written an open letter to the Chief Minister conveying the people's sentiment following the tragic incident. 'Innocent people lost their lives because of the irresponsible and self-centred decisions of the Chief Minister and the government.' Referring to the CM's statement that the government had no role in the deaths, and there was no untoward incidents during the event at Vidhana Soudha, Mr. Vijayendra commented that such a statement would prompt him to doubt the maturity of the Chief Minister who has been in politics for long. 'The CM's statement that he had no information about the deaths in the stampede for two hours after the incident showed how weak his administration is,' he stated. Mr. Vijayendra took the government to task for suspending police officers. The government went ahead with the programme ignoring the advice of police officers. The CM and government organised the programme without proper planning with the intention of gaining the goodwill of cricket fans. It took unilateral decisions and forced police officers to follow them. 'The CM suspended five police officers hoping that the government can address the public anger over the incident. However, it is quite clear that the tragedy occurred because of irresponsible decisions of the CM, Deputy CM and Home Minister,' he maintained. He urged the trio to introspect and resign from their positions. 'There are many incidents in the past when people in high posts resigned, taking moral responsibility when they faced serious allegations,' he said. BJP to plan protests across Karnataka Mr. Vijayendra said that the BJP would stage protests across Karnataka against the Congress government for its role in the stampede. The party would stage a protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on June 13. The second phase of protests would begin on June 16. Party workers would stage protests in all Assembly constituencies. Legislators Dr. Dhananjay Sarji, D.S. Arun, district BJP president N.K. Jagadish and others were present at the press conference.

India would strike deep into Pakistan if provoked by terror attacks, warns Jaishankar
India would strike deep into Pakistan if provoked by terrorist attacks, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has warned, asserting that there will be retribution against the terrorist outfits and their leaders in case of barbaric acts like the Pahalgam attack. Mr. Jaishankar, who is travelling to Europe a month after India launched Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, also said that Pakistan was training "thousands" of terrorists "in the open" and "unleashing" them on India. "We are not going to live with it. So our message to them is that if you continue to do the kind of barbaric acts which they did in April, then there is going to be retribution, and that retribution will be against the terrorist organisations and the terrorist leadership," he told Politico on Monday. "We don't care where they are. If they are deep in Pakistan, we will go deep into Pakistan," he added. Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 which claimed 26 lives. India carried out precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7. The on-ground hostilities from the Indian and Pakistan sides that lasted for four days ended with an understanding of stopping the military actions following talks between the directors general of military operations of both sides on May 10. Mr. Jaishankar warned that the root causes of the conflict remain unchanged. "It (Pakistan) is a country very steeped in its use of terrorism as an instrument of state policy. That is the whole issue," he was quoted as saying by the Politico. When asked if the conditions that led to the outbreak of war last month were still in place, he said: "If you call the commitment to terrorism a source of tension, absolutely, it is." When asked about losses, Mr. Jaishankar said the relevant authorities would communicate on the matter when they were ready. He said that India's fighter aircraft and missiles had inflicted far more extensive damage on the Pakistani Air Force than vice versa, forcing Pakistan to sue for peace. "As far I'm concerned, how effective the Rafale was or frankly, how effective other systems were — to me the proof of the pudding are the destroyed and disabled airfields on the Pakistani side," he said. "The fighting stopped on the 10th for one reason and one reason only, which was that on the 10th morning, we hit these eight Pakistani, the main eight Pakistani airfields and disabled them," he said, adding that images are available in Google showing runways and those hangars which have taken the hit. During his week-long visit to Europe, Jaishankar will also hold talks with leaders of the European Union, Belgium and France to boost bilateral ties and reaffirm India's policy of zero-tolerance against terrorism.
