Homage paid to Pahalgam victims at BJP's Sindoor Rally in Chennai
CHENNAI: The BJP, led by its state president Nainar Nagenthran, on Wednesday took out a 'Sindoor Rally' in Chennai to celebrate India's success in counter-terror operations. Former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, senior leaders Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy and H Raja addressed the gathering.
They hailed the Indian Army's action against terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's response to the attacks.
Speaking at the event, Nainar Nagenthran said precision strikes had destroyed nine terrorist camps and 11 launch pads. As part of the event, BJP cadre and functionaries observed a moment of silence in memory of the 26 people killed in Pahalgam and the army personnel and civilians who lost their lives in subsequent operations.
Earlier in the day, Nagenthran and BJP national secretary and Tamil Nadu in-charge Arvind Menon called on Governor RN Ravi at Raj Bhavan.

A unified SP leveraging its Yadav-Muslim base could challenge the BJP's hegemony, forcing national parties to negotiate hard for UP's 80 Lok Sabha seats. Maharashtra's NCP, built on Maratha pride and rural networks, is reeling from Ajit Pawar's 2023 betrayal splitting from Sharad Pawar and his daughter Supriya Sule to join the BJP. Ajit's grab for the NCP's name, symbol and the Maratha vote bank left Supriya's faction scrambling. If the split persists, the BJP and its ally Shiv Sena will dominate the state, with the Congress gaining marginal urban votes. A reunited NCP, though a long shot, could reclaim its kingmaker status, forcing national parties to vie for its support in coalition games. The BSP, anchored in Dalit empowerment, is Mayawati's fortress. Her anointment of brother Anand Kumar and nephew Aakash screams of nepotism. Its political capital is its Jatav Dalit base, which is slipping as educated Dalits drift to BJP's development promises. If the BSP collapses under dynastic weight, the BJP will absorb its voters, cementing dominance in UP, while the Congress might snag urban Dalits. Consolidation under Aakash, if Mayawati steps back, could revive the BSP's Dalit clout, challenging national parties in UP's caste cauldron. West Bengal's Trinamool Congress, fuelled by Bengali sub-nationalism, is Mamata Banerjee's domain, with nephew Abhishek Banerjee as heir. His rise as MP and party general secretary irks veterans, but Mamata's grip keeps dissent at bay. But Bengal's growing middle class demands merit. If the TMC fractures post-Mamata, the BJP's Hindutva pitch could sway voters, with the Congress a distant contender. A consolidated TMC under Abhishek could dominate Bengal, forcing national parties to cede ground in eastern coalitions. In Tamil Nadu, the DMK thrives on Dravidian identity, championing Tamil pride and social justice. M K Stalin, Karunanidhi's son, rules unchallenged, grooming his son Udhayanidhi Stalin as successor, with hardly any overt pushback from anyone within the family or outside. The DMK's politics, comprising its Tamil base and anti-Hindi stance, is robust, but Tamil Nadu's IT-driven prosperity is breeding a youth sceptical of dynasty. In the unlikely but hypothetical situation of the DMK splintering, the BJP could gain urban footholds while the AIADMK mops up rural votes. A unified DMK, with Udhayanidhi at the helm, would keep Tamil Nadu a regional stronghold by marginalising national parties. The Pattali Makkal Katchi, ensconced in Tamil Nadu's Vanniyar caste silo, faces collapse as S Ramadoss battles son Anbumani, who was sacked from party president's chair in April 2025 over a BJP alliance spat. Anbumani's defiance targets the PMK's political foundation. If the PMK implodes, the DMK and AIADMK will rupture its fountainhead, with the BJP gaining marginal caste votes. But a united PMK could still sway coalitions, forcing national parties to court its niche clout.

The Indian Armed Forces' on May 7 launched precision strikes under Operation Sindoor and dismantled nine major terror camps associated with the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK). Five of the nine terror camps were located in PoJK, and the other four in Pakistan. The strikes came in response to the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. Among the destroyed camps in Pakistan, Muridke and Bhawalpur stand out as they not only serve as residences for major commanders but also serve as epicentres for radicalisation and various training courses on intelligence and arms handling for Laskar as well as Jaish-e-Mohammad. Among the key terror operatives eliminated in the operation was Rauf Azhar, the brother-in-law of Maulana Masood Azhar, the Jaish Chief. Rauf Azhar, a proscribed terrorist, is wanted for his part in the conspiracy to hijack IC-814. (ANI)

'Diaspora hopes one day PoK will become part of India': All-party delegation member Samik Bhattacharya in Berlin
Berlin [Germany], June 7 (ANI): BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya, a member of the all-party delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, on Saturday highlighted the overwhelming enthusiasm of the Indian diaspora across the six countries visited by the delegation, noting their strong hope and belief that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) will one day be reunited with India. Following an interaction at a community event in Berlin, Bhattacharya stated that all the nations they visited condemned terrorism and supported India's fight against it. 'There is a lot of enthusiasm among the Indian diaspora in the six countries we visited... They hope that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) will become a part of India... All the countries we visited condemned terrorism and stand with India in the fight against terrorism,' the BJP MP said. Meanwhile, former Deputy National Security Advisor Pankaj Saran noted the delegation's success in conveying India's message and gaining international support against terrorism, praising the unity and effectiveness of the MPs who were part of the delegation. 'Mission accomplished... It has been a hectic tour. Every day was critical. The objectives have been achieved. We visited all the major European capitals... We conveyed our message and got good responses... India's story has been understood. There is no pressure on India... They see India as a clear, emerging major global power... All credit goes to our Members of Parliament; they were fantastic... They were united in the message. I am very proud to be a part of this delegation,' Saran stated. Earlier, BJP MP and delegation leader Ravi Shankar Prasad described the visit to Germany to convey India's resolute and united stand against terrorism as highly successful, noting that Germany has condemned terrorism as well as expressed solidarity with India. Following an interaction at a community event in Berlin, Prasad highlighted the enthusiasm of the Indian diaspora inspired by India's growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and emphasised that the delegation's concerns were heard across six countries, with their mission to expose Pakistan-sponsored terrorism gaining traction. 'There is a lot of enthusiasm among Indians in Berlin. They are very inspired by India's growth story and the action taken by the country against terrorists under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. Our visit to Germany has been very good. Germany has also condemned terrorism. We are very satisfied with the visit. We were given a lot of respect in the six countries we visited, and our concerns were heard, and our stance has been made clear,' Prasad stated. The delegation, led by Prasad, also includes BJP MP Daggubati Purandeswari, Congress MP Amar Singh and Gulam Ali Khatana, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, AIADMK MP M Thambidurai and former Union Minister MJ Akbar.
