Moushumi Chatterjee 'pities' Amitabh Bachchan, calls him a victim of his image: ‘He is always performing'
Moushumi Chatterjee, who has collaborated with Amitabh Bachchan in films like Manzil, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan and most recently Piku, opened up about her working experience with the Bollywood superstar. Moushumi, in a recent interview, gave her two cents on Amitabh's stardom and how he manages it. In an interview with Filmfare, Moushumi said, "Amitabh Bachchan is a very intelligent man. He always uses politically right words. I sometimes pity him because I think most of the time he is only performing because that is all that he knows. I might be wrong, but that's how I feel about him. It is because of his image. He has a huge image, which nobody else has managed to achieve.'
Moushumi compared Amitabh with another Bollywood heavyweight, Rajesh Khanna and explained how both of them managed their stardom differently.
Sharing the difference between the two superstars, Moushumi said, "Amitabh has managed to stay grounded despite immense success. Something that Rajesh Khanna failed at. He was blown up with his success. As the saying goes: 'Ek anpadh gunda aur ek padhe likhe gunde mein bahaut farq hota hai' (There is always a difference between a literate and illiterate goon). I have never seen Amitabh Bachchan with flatterers. However, Rajesh Khanna was always surrounded by these people. He needed that attention and pampering.'
Moushumi recently returned to the big screen after a hiatus with the Bengali film Aarii. Written and directed by Jiit Chakraborty, the story explores the sacrifices and emotional bond between a widowed mother and her caregiver son. The film, which also stars Yash Dasgupta and Nusrat Jahan, was released in theatres on 25 April. Her last film with Big B, Piku, was also re-released in theatres on 9 May.
On the other hand, Amitabh was last seen in the Tamil film Vettaiyan and the Telugu film Kalki 2898 AD. He has yet to shoot for the sequel to the sci-fi directed by Nag Ashwin, which will see him reprising his role of Ashwatthama.

Recalling his meeting with Rajiv after he became the PM, he shared, 'When Rajiv became Prime Minister, I went to see him and all the big politicians of the time were sitting there. Rajiv popped his head out, saw me and asked me to come in. He brought me in, pointed at the expanse of the Prime Minister's house and said, 'kahan phas gaya hun yaar (Where did I land up?)' ' He added, 'I told him to be serious because he is the Prime Minister, he responded, 'You don't tell me to be serious. Everybody is asking me to be serious. You are my friend, you and I won't talk about serious things.' When I was leaving, I hugged him and he looked tensed, and I realised he was wearing a bulletproof jacket under his clothes and I understood why he was tensed. I asked him to take care and next thing I knew he was assassinated. It was a personal loss for me. I had great respect for him and Sanjay.' Rajiv took office after the assassination of his mother, then–Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, becoming the youngest Prime Minister at the age of 40. He was assassinated in 1991.

‘Chaliye aap mere saath': Jaya Bachchan lashes out at paparazzi as they swarmed her outside Rono Mukherjee's prayer meet
Several actors attended the prayer meet of late director Rono Mukherjee, which was held in Mumbai recently. Among them was veteran actor, MP Jaya Bachchan who almost lost her cool when paparazzi surrounded her outside the venue. Belonging to the Mukherjee-Samarth family, he was the elder brother of Deb Mukherjee. Lesser known but prominent, he was the brother of Shomu Mukherjee (Kajol's father), Subbir Mukherjee, Joy Mukherjee, and Deb Mukherjee. Rono died in Mumbai on 28 May. He was 83. His funeral took place on Wednesday around 4 pm at Pawan Hans in Mumbai. Rono was also the uncle of Bollywood actors Kajol, and Rani Mukerji, and the father of actress Sharbani Mukherjee. He was also the uncle of director Ayan Mukerji and actress Tanishaa Mukerji. His cousins were Ram Mukherjee (Rani Mukerji's father), Shyam Mukherjee, Gitanjali Mukherjee, Subhash Mukherjee, and Sanjoy Mukherjee. The loss of Rono Mukherjee is the second tragedy for the Mukerji family in recent months. In March, Ayan Mukerji's father and veteran actor Deb Mukherjee passed away at the age of 83. Jaya Bachchan shares a close bond with the Mukerji family and is often seen visiting them during key moments. Meanwhile on the work front, Jaya Bachchan was last seen in filmmaker Karan Johar's romance drama, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. It also starred Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh alongside Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi.
