Anu Malik's brother Daboo Malik on family dealing with MeToo allegations: 'We couldn't handle the pain'

Back in 2018, music composer Anu Malik faced sexual harassment allegations from several singers including Sona Mohapatra, Neha Bhasin, Alisha Chinai. Now, his younger brother and composer Daboo Malik has admitted that the allegations shattered the whole family. Daboo Malik revealed that Anu Malik went through a tough time after MeToo allegations.
Daboo looks back
Daboo looked back at the difficult time during a conversation with Vickey Lalwani on YouTube. He said, 'It shattered us as a family. He was also taken aback. We couldn't handle the pain he went through at the time with so many people targeting him. We supported him emotionally. We saw to it that he got back in terms of work and meetings. As a family, I couldn't pass any judgement. One should not. He saw a very difficult time. I have supported him on an individual level because when you see someone going through so much, it was quite a setback for him."
It was their parents who struggled the most when the reports of the allegations surfaced. Daboo shared that 'they couldn't understand what was happening' as they were in their '80s.
During the interview, he was asked if it became difficult for him and Abu Malik to face people. To which, Daboo said, 'We give it too much importance. I don't think we are stars. He is not a Shah Rukh Khan or a superstar. We are musicians. Unnecessarily, we keep talking about someone on social media and end up giving them a position. I don't think we are that important to even have this conversation."
Anu Malik faces MeToo allegations
Back in 2018, Anu Malik was accused of sexual harassment by multiple women amid the #MeToo movement raging across the country.
Several singers, including Sona Mohapatra and Shweta Pandit, accused Anu Malik of sexual harassment. Shweta had said in her post that she was just 15 when Malik made her uncomfortable by asking to kiss him. 'Had to go back to my worst memory as a teenage girl today to write this and speak up - its now or never. This is my #MeToo and have to warn young girls about #AnuMalik & let you know your #TimesUp @IndiaMeToo. Thank you @sonamohapatra for speaking up about him & supporting this,' she wrote on Twitter.
In an Instagram post, singer Sona Mohapatra wrote, 'This guy, #KailashKher is a serial predator & has been for years as are many others like Anu Malik in the industry. I cannot be tweeting about everyone cus I work 18 hour work days & have a life to live & breathe in.' Anu Malik had to quit Indian Idol due to the accusations.
In 2019, Anu Malik broke his silence and addressed the allegations, writing, 'It has been over a year that I have been accused of something that I haven't done. I have been silent all this while as I was waiting for the truth to surface on its own. But I realise that my silence on the matter has been misconstrued as my weakness.'
'Ever since the false and unverified allegations were levelled against me, it has not only ruined my reputation, but affected me and my family's mental health, left us traumatised, and tarnished my career. I feel helpless, like I am being cornered and suffocated… Being a father of two daughters, I can't imagine committing the acts that I am accused of, let alone do it,' he added.

Instagram testing Picks feature to match users by shared movies, music, books, and more

Instagram is cooking up yet another way to keep you glued to the app, this time by playing matchmaker over your taste in films, music, books, and more. The new tool, called 'Picks,' is designed to help you discover what you have in common with friends, potentially sparking more conversation beyond the usual double-taps and emoji Instagram's parent company, confirmed to TechCrunch that Picks is currently an internal prototype. It's still in the 'playing around with it in the lab' phase and nowhere near your feed, feature was first spotted by serial app sleuth and reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, who has a knack for digging up Instagram's unreleased experiments. In the screenshots he shared, users can select their personal favourites across categories like films, TV shows, books, games, and music. These 'Picks' are then cross-referenced with your friends' selections, highlighting shared tastes. Think Spotify Wrapped meets friendship compatibility test, but baked into Instagram. Instagram hasn't provided any official details on how it would work in practice, but it's not hard to imagine the motivation. In theory, Picks could encourage users to connect on a more personal level, nudging them to swap recommendations or debate the merits of each other's choices. Instead of endlessly scrolling past content, you might actually message someone because you both love the same niche TV drama or 90s indie idea aligns neatly with Instagram head Adam Mosseri's stated vision for the platform in 2025. Back in January, Mosseri posted: 'To help people connect with friends over the things they discover on Instagram, we're going to double down on messaging, make consuming content more interactive and social, and explore new ways to connect with friends.'In other words, Instagram wants to feel less like a content vending machine and more like the internet's busiest pub, full of chatter, sharing, and the occasional argument over whether a sequel was better than the course, this being Instagram, not everyone will cheer the arrival of another feature. The app has been steadily packing in more bells and whistles over the years, leading some users to complain it's becoming overcrowded and bloated. Instagram is still dealing with backlash from its recent 'Instagram Map' rollout, which left many people wondering why they'd been given a new location feature they never asked because Picks is still in early development, there's no telling when, or if, it will launch. Meta often experiments with features that never see the light of day, so this could end up as another entry in Instagram's long list of 'what could have been.'Still, for those who enjoy a good personality quiz or want to uncover unexpected common ground with their friends, Picks could prove to be a surprisingly engaging addition. Whether it becomes the next Stories-style hit or quietly disappears into the feature graveyard will depend on whether users embrace it, and whether Instagram can resist the urge to turn it into yet another algorithm-driven ad machine.- EndsTrending Reel

Instagram's new Picks feature will help you discover common interests

Instagram, a Meta-owned social media network, is developing a new feature called 'Picks' that will help users discover their shared interests. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), known reverse engineer Alessandro Pauzzi shared screenshots of the upcoming functionality, which allows people to select their favourite books, games, movies, music, and TV shows, to name a few. Instagram then checks these and compares them with followers to see which of your friends are interested in similar things. For example, if you add a particular movie or a genre to your Picks, the feature would highlight your friends who are interested in the same thing. The screenshots also suggest that these 'Picks' will appear in the inbox Notes and will be accessible by tapping a new icon that appears at the top of the inbox section. While Instagram hasn't shared other details about the upcoming feature, in a statement to TechCrunch, the company did confirm that Picks is currently an 'internal prototype'. #Instagram is working on Picks 👀 ℹ️ Add what you're into and find overlap with friends who are all about it too — Alessandro Paluzzi (@alex193a) August 6, 2025 Additionally, it appears that Meta-owned social media platforms are viewing Picks as a new way for users to connect with friends and followers on a more personal level, providing a means to initiate conversations about topics of interest. 'To help people connect with friends over the things they discover on Instagram, we're going to double down on messaging, make consuming content more interactive and social, and explore new ways to connect with friends', Instagram head Adam Mosseri said in a post earlier this year. While Picks does sound like a great idea, Instagram already has a ton of features that help you connect with others, like Instagram Map, a new functionality that allows users to share their location with others, just like Snapchat Map. Another functionality that aims to increase interactions on the platform is the Friends tab residing within the Reels section. This enables users to see reels their friends recently interacted with and even get recommendations from Blends.

Sabrina Carpenter On Taylor Swift's New Album Reveal: ‘Freaking Out'

Taylor Swift's upcoming album set The Life of a Showgirl, is set for release on October 3, with 12 tracks produced by Taylor herself alongside Max Martin and Shellback. Sabrina Carpenter is over the moon as she is the only featured artist on Taylor Swift's freshly announced 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. And looking at her reaction, it seems she is just as excited as the rest of us. The big news dropped this week when Swift revealed the album, set for release on October 3, with 12 tracks produced by Taylor herself alongside Max Martin and Shellback. When the announcement came, Swift was on her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason's New Heights podcast. Carpenter, clearly excited for the collaboration, did not shy away from sharing her feelings as she wrote, 'I know someone is freaking out and it's me," in a post on Instagram stories. In a subsequent post, she shared a photo of Taylor Swift, simply attached to a short note that read, 'Must also point out that." The announcement of Taylor Swift's new album came shortly after a countdown timer expired at 12:12 AM Tuesday on her official website. Her longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff is missing from the credits this time. As for Sabrina Carpenter, she will be seen in the final track, The Life of a Showgirl from the album. During her appearance on New Heights Podcast, Swift also opened up about her favourite track which is the rerecording of her 2012 album's titular song Red. 'When it came time to do Taylor's Version and rerecording the album, I went back in, found the verses, restructured the song to the way that it pretty much was when I had originally written it. That song is one of my favorite things I've ever done," she said. Taylor Swift Acquires Master Recordings The music sensation even got emotional talking about finally acquiring her master recordings after years. 'They sat down with Shamrock Capital and they told them what this meant for me. They told them the whole story of all the times we've tried to buy it, all the times it's fallen through," she recalled. Swift added, 'I get a call from my mom and she's like, 'You got your music'. It's literally been so long since this happened, and it's every time I talk about it….I just like very dramatically hit the floor for real. Honestly, just started like bawling my eyes out, and I'm just like weeping." Now, with The Life of a Showgirl set for release, fans are counting down to October 3 and so are we.
