The deceased were identified as Sachin Sharma, 27, a taxi driver, and Laxmi Kumar, 50, a daily wager, both residents of Prem Vihar in Khora Colony, Ghaziabad, police said.
According to police, a call was received around 12:30pm via Dial 112, informing them that two men were lying unconscious inside a Hyundai Aura CNG car parked near a park close to a private school in Sector 62. 'Upon getting information, a team of Sector 58 police was rushed to the spot, and a forensic team was called,' said Amit Kumar, station house officer (SHO) of the Sector 58 police station.
Police found that the car was locked from the inside with the key still in the ignition, both the petrol and CNG tank were empty.'Sachin was found lying on the front seats, while Laxmi was seated in the rear. There were no visible injury marks on their bodies,' SHO Kumar said, adding that the car was later towed for inspection.
During the preliminary inquiry, it emerged that the two men had been missing since Sunday night. 'When they didn't return home by Monday morning and their phones remained unreachable, family members began looking for them. Around 12 noon, locals informed them that Sachin's car had been parked in Sector 62 since the previous night,' the SHO said.
Sachin's father, Ramgopal Sharma, was among those who reached the scene. 'Initially, they tried knocking, but after getting no response, Ramgopal broke the window and unlocked the car,' police said.
A senior police officer said that family members had informed them that the two men were regular alcohol consumers and often spent time drinking inside the car. 'It is suspected that they consumed alcohol on Sunday night and turned on the air conditioner to rest. The car may have run out of fuel while the AC was still on, leading to lack of oxygen and suspected asphyxiation,' the officer said, requesting anonymity.
Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem, and the exact cause of death will be determined by the autopsy. The vehicle will also be examined by technicians to rule out any mechanical fault or CNG leakage, officials said, adding that the CNG tank was factory-fitted.

Ex-cricketer Suresh Raina summoned by ED for questioning in illegal betting app case

The Enforcement Directorate has summoned former cricketer Suresh Raina on Wednesday at its Delhi office in connection with an ongoing probe into illegal betting platforms, officials told HT late Tuesday night. The former Indian player has been asked by ED to depose before the agency on August 13 for questioning in an illegal betting case linked to an app named 1xBet, PTI quoted the sources as saying. Earlier in the day, to obtain more information about the racket behind a betting app called 'Parimatch,' the ED officials from Mumbai conducted raids at 15 locations in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Madurai, and Surat. The ED has launched its probe under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) upon a case registered by the Cyber Police Station in Mumbai in 2024. 'These platforms are in violation of multiple laws and directions by the Indian government, including tax evasion, money laundering, and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) as money is transferred out of the country illegally. It is estimated that around 22 crore (220 million) Indian users are currently engaged on various betting apps, and 11 crore (110 million) of these are regular users,' an officer told HT. According to the initial investigation, funds were collected from duped users in mule accounts, which were layered through multiple payment aggregators and money transfer agents — aggregating to more than ₹ 2,000 crore, officials told HT. The official sources said that the amount was laundered through crypto wallets, smaller cash withdrawals through ATMs in a locality in Tamil Nadu, and through low-value UPI transfers. The ED had also summoned officials from Google and Meta to aid its investigation into betting apps that use multiple platforms for surrogate advertisements. The ED has been talking to many stakeholders, including media houses, who may have got money for advertisements from these platforms.

"Famous Cricketer Asked Me To Meet In Person": Kashish Kapoor, Bigg Boss 18 Contestant, Reveals Creepy Experience

Kashish Kapoor, Bigg Boss 18 contestant and actor, has made an interesting claim when asked in an interview about a creepy experience. "Have you found any one creepy?" she was asked by the anchor. "Actually this very famous cricketer. That was a little creepy also. He asked to meet in person. I denied. You are a cricketer at home. To me you are a guy, impress me. I wouldn't be impressed just because of your occupation right. He thought I should be impressed because he is a cricketer and it can be easy. But I don't like that. You're a cricketer, its a profession, I respect, but to me you are not going to bat and bowl with me that I am going to be impressed," she said on Filmygyan Viral. Back in July, Kashish Kapoo alleged she was robbed of Rs 4.5 lakh in cash from her house in Mumbai's Andheri. Ms Kapoor has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against her domestic help, Sachin Kumar Chaudhary, who has been missing ever since the robbery, for allegedly stealing money from her cupboard. Actor Kashish Kapoor had kept Rs 7 lakh in cash in her cupboard. She was to send it to her mother in her hometown. However, one day, when she opened the cupboard to take out the cash, over half of it was missing. Only Rs 2.5 lakh was present there. The suspicion fell on Sachin, Ms Kapoor's domestic help, who went missing after the incident. The actor has registered a complaint at the Amboli Police Station. The police are investigating the case and searching for Sachin. The initial investigation suggests that Sachin had planned to flee the house immediately after taking some cash. "I am very hurt by this incident. I trusted that person, but he has hurt both my feelings and trust," Ms Kapoor said. "I hope the police will catch him as soon as possible and justice will be served," she added.
