Built-in bra tops are summer's must-have and we've tried high street buys

Daily Mirror24-05-2025

Supportive, stylish and secretly structured, we've found the very best built-in bra tops on the high street, and tried out best-selling styles from Uniqlo and Primark
When the sun's out and the layers come off, the last thing anyone wants to deal with is an uncomfortable bra or exposed straps, which is exactly why built-in bra tops are having a major moment this summer.
Whether you're after easy everyday comfort or subtle support that doesn't ruin the look of your outfit, these clever tops are the ultimate warm-weather staple. Uniqlo was one of the first high street brands to launch these handy tops all the way back in 2008, but it was a couple of years ago that they really started to go viral. And ever since, more and more brands are offering the practical design feature.
From Uniqlo's cult-favourite Airism shelf bras to surprisingly supportive finds at Primark and Bravissimo, the high street is full of options.
UNIQLO
Since launching, Uniqlo's collection of bra tops has expanded so much, even into dresses. From camis to halternecks and of course, the viral AIRism tops, there are so many options to choose from. I tested out a few last week, and found my winners in the Open Back Halter Neck Bra Top, priced at £19.90 and the AIRism Sleeveless Bra Top, priced at £19.90. I especially love that the halter neck top has a lower back, which usually would restrict bra use, but instead supports the chest while allowing your back to be on show.Uniqlo also have built-in bra dresses to choose from, which is a real game-changer. From cute AIRism tennis dresses to flattering striped maxis, these picks are the perfect summer wardrobe addition.
PRIMARK
Primark's built-in bra tops have been cropping up a lot on Instagram and TikTok, and are easily the most affordable option available. There aren't as many styles or colours available as there are with Uniqlo's ones, however, for the price they are a great basic to have in your summer wardrobe.
The Built-in Bra Cami Top is priced at £8 and comes in four different colourways, including a trendy powder blue and a ditsy floral print. Again, if you wanted to wear a bra with such a thinly strapped camisole like this one, you would just have to accept your bra straps showing through. However, with the built-in bra, you can get actual support while wearing the clothes that you want to.
Shop in your local Primark
BRAVISSIMO
If you've got a fuller chest, Bravissimo is the place to shop for supportive bras, bikini's and bra-tops. Designed specifically to help bigger busts, their bra tops have a built-in wired and padded bra, complete with a hidden hook-and-eye fastening for extra support.
And they've been specially designed to keep you feeling secure and comfortable, as well as being made from high quality and super-soft fabric that feels great against the skin
SHOP BRA TOPS: Bandeau Vest Top With Built-In Bra, priced at £49, and Non Padded Strappy Top With Built-In Bra, priced at £46.
SKIMS
Ok, so not necessarily a high street brand (although they have just announced a physical Skims store is coming to the UK), but talking about underwear and shapewear without including Skims is pretty hard. And their bra tops have shopper reviews to back them up.Some of their tops don't explicitly have 'built-in bra' in the name like some other brands, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Many of their styles, including their tube tops, feature a built-in shelf bra, so you can still wear traditionally unsupportive styles such as camis and bandeaus without worrying about what to wear underneath.

OnlyFans confirms Bonnie Blue 'permanent ban' after porn star's latest sex stunt

Adult star Bonnie Blue, known for having sex with 1,057 men in a day, has been 'permanently banned' from OnlyFans for posting and intending to make 'extreme' content. This comes after the Derbyshire porn star was planning to break her own world record by sleeping with 2,000 men in a single day in a stunt she was branding a 'petting zoo'. An OnlyFans spokesperson told Metro: 'Extreme challenge content is not available on OnlyFans and is not permitted under our Acceptable Use Policy and Terms of Service. 'Any breach of our Terms of Service results in content or account deactivation… This is why it has been necessary to take this action. We always act when users breach our terms of service.' When Metro asked how long Bonnie's ban will be in place for, OnlyFans replied: 'The ban is permanent.' She has since revealed her 'petting zoo' stunt has been cancelled. OnlyFans has been valued at £8 billion thanks to its adult content creators — the same value as film studios, Paramount. The creators on the platform keep 80% of the money their subscriptions generate — which means Bonnie could be about to lose out on the £600,000 she claims to make each month. Back in 2021, OnlyFans had even announced it was going to ban all adult content from its platform, but this ban lasted six days before the company U-turned. Bonnie's decision to join OnlyFans in 2021 stemmed from the fact that she wasn't feeling happy with the direction her life was going in – and wanted a new challenge. She previously told Metro that she had given up on her dreams of being a midwife because she didn't want to stay in education, so she began working in recruitment. 'I thought, is this what my life is going to be? I realised I wasn't happy with 80% of my life. I didn't want to get old thinking I wish I'd done more,' she explained. Once she realised it wasn't for her, she sold her house and moved to Australia to live a 'beach lifestyle.' Using her savings, she was able to give up work for two years. Not wanting her time in Oz to be the only 'highlight' of her life, she first began working as a cam girl, inspired by other women doing the same thing online. Almost instantly, she was earning £2,030 a week. 'I loved it – it gave me so much confidence,' she said. But it was her antics last year that placed Bonnie firmly in the spotlight, when she posted call outs for 'barely legal' teens or 'schoolies', to sleep with her, setting herself up in student-heavy areas in the UK. All encounters were filmed, even if she was taking the teen's virginity, which caused outrage online and earned her the label of a predator. She has refuted these claims and says her content is educational. Bonnie took her content to the next level on January 11, when she slept with 1,057 men in a single day. The 25-year-old OnlyFans star announced her record-breaking sex marathon with an inflammatory Instagram caption, writing: 'Over 1,000 men in a day! Thank you to all the barely legal, barely breathing and the husbands.' The sex worker thanked the men who took part, saying: '1,057 isn't possible without volunteers… thanks for the fluids boys. 'Honestly thank you so much because if it wasn't for you turning up putting your **** inside me I wouldn't have any of this whatsoever, and it really has changed my life. Hopefully I can continue pleasuring you.' Men were put into groups of five had two minutes with Bonnie collectively, while those who had sex with her alone had 30 to 45 seconds. It's this type of extreme content that has led OnlyFans to take the decision to ban the star from its platform. It's not just Onlyfans that have taken issue with Bonnie's extreme challenges. Sophie Rain, 20, a leading OnlyFans creator and co-founder of Bop House – a collective of OF creators, hit out at Bonnie telling The Blast: 'It's no longer women empowerment. 'It's shock value, and she's making a joke out of all of us. We built this space to take control of our bodies and our finances, not to fake pregnancies, weddings, or throw cake at strangers in the street.' It appears she's also alluding to the fake pregnancy stunt pulled by Bonnie's rival Lily Phillips, who hit headlines after sleeping with 101 men in a day. More Trending 'Brands don't take us seriously anymore. Media doesn't take us seriously,' Sophie added. 'I'm tired of explaining that not all of us are doing circus acts for views.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video British broadcaster Ashley Louise James also challenged Bonnie back in November on This Morning on her 'predatory pursuit of teenage boys and her antagonistic (and outdated) attitudes to women'. She followed up on Instagram, saying: 'Bonnie has openly bragged about have sex with 'fresh 18 year olds' and has described it as 'babysitting adults' and even declared that she 'loves taking virginities'. 'I find this behaviour disturbing and predatory. I also find it deeply disturbing and disgusting that there are so many men and boys willing to queue up and have sex with her.' Woman sparks debate on ‘comfy' thongs after mistakenly buying them & says she can ‘feel my bum cheeks clapping together'

Others agreed that a pair of "Bridget Jones's" are the best KNICKER KNOCKERS Woman sparks debate on 'comfy' thongs after mistakenly buying them & says she can 'feel my bum cheeks clapping together' A WOMAN has sparked a fierce debate about whether or not thongs are actually comfy after accidentally buying some for her holiday. Ellie was stocking up for her holiday when she mistakenly popped a pack of G-strings in her basket instead of her favourite briefs. 2 Ellie was left fuming when she accidentally bought thongs for her holiday Credit: tiktok/@ellieyoung1993 2 But saying that the G strings are less than comfy sparked a fierce debate in the comments section Credit: Instagram/@ellieyoung1993 But when it came to actually wearing the barely-there underwear on her vacation, Ellie was left fuming by just how "uncomfortable" they were. "So I've accidentally bought thongs," she said in a video on her TikTok page as she strolled along in the sunshine wearing a cute and colourful Shein playsuit. "And I am telling you now anyone who says they're comfy are lying! "My arse cheeks are clapping together." When her other half started looking at her, she told him: "These literally feel like a bit of dental floss. "Honestly they are so uncomfortable!" she added in the video caption. However, her clip sparked a fierce debate in the comments section, with one writing: "I don't own anything other than thongs!" "I can't wear anything else other than thongs because I feel like briefs/bikini knickers just show every lump and bump!" another added. "I LOVE thongs!! Only thing I can wear!!" a third commented. "I love mine, wouldn't be without them," someone else said. I don't rate Skims undies but a dupe in my local supermarket is 10 times better - it's so comfy & the thongs are only £3 But others insisted they much prefer a larger brief. "I haven't worn anything other than granny knickers since having my kids," one wrote. "And I am never looking back, best things ever!" "I hate thongs," another raged. "I honestly don't know how people can wear them!" "Girl, I am the same - do not wear them. They're awful!" a third said. Who Is Love Island's Latest Bombshell, Shea Mannings?

Love Island season 12 is well underway, which means the original islanders have been joined by a few bombshells. Just when the new couples start getting to know each other, someone new walks into the villa and everything stands to change. One of the first bombshells of the series this year is Shea Mannings, who joined the show with Remell Mullins. If Shea's already caught your eye then you've come to the right place to find out more about him. Here's all you need to know... Shea Mannings is Love Island's latest bombshell. As expected, he's a 6ft 4 gym lover looking to find love in the villa this summer. Shea is also a parent, sharing on Instagram that he has a young son at home. Prior to entering the villa, he boasted about his womanising skills and even said he could win over host Maya Jama with his flirting. Given that she's loved up with her new boyfriend Manchester City player, Ruben Dias, we don't fancy Shea's chances. Shea is from Bristol in the West of England. Shea works as a scaffolder and a semi-professional footballer. His most recent team was Swindon Supermarine FC, who compete in the Southern League Premier Division South. However, he returned to Bristol last season for a stint with Bristol Manor Farm. Shea claims he is ready to find a more meaningful connection and settle down. When asked about his ideal match, he said: 'She needs to be bubbly and we need to have that initial spark. She needs to have a nice personality - like I think I have - so that we match together. Also, I have a little boy, so I'll be taking him into consideration with who I couple up with, too.' Does he have any deal breakers? Yes. 'Dirty trainers,' he revealed. 'I can't deal with that.' Yes! You can keep up with Shea and his endless workout videos on Instagram at @ Love Island continues everyday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX, except Saturdays. Nikki Peach is a writer at Grazia UK, working across entertainment, TV and news.
