COMMENT | On June 24, a group of enforcement officers from the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) were summoned to a conference room for what they described as 'Coordination Meeting on Parking Enforcement in MBSJ area by Selmax Sdn Bhd'.
A Facebook post by the MBSJ Enforcement Department read: 'The meeting was chaired by the assistant director of MBSJ's Enforcement Department and attended by representatives from concessionaire company Selmax Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of ITMAX System Berhad).
'The meeting presented the proposed parking enforcement operation to be carried out by Selmax, scheduled to begin on July 1, 2025, under the supervision of the local authority.
'It also involved coordinating ad hoc enforcement duties, including official council events, sports activities, state-level parades in Selangor, and disaster management.
'The goal is to standardise the standard operating procedures (SOPs), scope of duties, and enforcement actions related to parking, while employing monitoring systems, reporting mechanisms, and more efficient and effective enforcement strategies.'

Nurul Izzah: Zara Qairina's passing unites Malaysians

KUALA LUMPUR — Zara Qairina Mahathir's passing has brought Malaysians together across boundaries and differences, said Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar (picture). She said that, as a mother, she deeply understands the grief of the deceased's mother, who only wished to see her child grow up like other children – healthy and happy. 'Zara Qairina was like a daughter to all of us. She was polite, of noble character and a person who held firmly to religious teachings. Her passing has united us all across boundaries and differences,' she said in a Facebook post today. She also vowed to continue the fight until those responsible are punished accordingly and a safe environment is secured for Malaysia's children. 'We will continue to follow and closely monitor the latest developments through the announcements of Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and the Attorney-General's Chambers, because every child deserves to grow up in a safe environment, free from fear and threats. 'This is our shared responsibility to remain vigilant, to protect and to ensure that such a tragedy does not happen again,' she said. — BERNAMA

Recently, a video of a motorcyclist performing stunts along a highway went viral along with the claim that it happened near Tapah, Perak. Did a motorcyclist really perform stunts near Tapah as claimed? Tapah OCPD Deputy Supt Fadzil Ismail said police came across a Facebook video showing several motorcyclists travelling south between KM354.1 and KM354.5. "In the 14-second video, it showed that the motorcyclists were riding dangerously." "One of the motorcyclists performed a 'Superman' action, posing a risk to himself and other road users," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 13). DSP Fadzil said police were trying to track down the individuals involved, with investigation ongoing under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. "Those with information about the incident are urged to contact investigating officer Sjn Sadri Omar at 05-401 1222." Security guard fined RM5,000 for insulting Prophet Muhammad on FB

Published on: Wednesday, August 13, 2025 Published on: Wed, Aug 13, 2025 By: Ho Kit Yen, FMT Text Size: MCMC prosecuting officer Farhan Kamarudin asked the court to impose a deterrent sentence on Ramesh Muniandy, whom he said had made 'baseless allegations' about the Prophet Muhammad. Kuala Lumpur: The sessions court here today fined a security guard RM5,000 for insulting the Prophet Muhammad on Facebook. Judge Norma Ismail handed down the sentence on Ramesh Muniandy, who pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. If he fails to settle the fine, he must serve a five-month jail sentence. According to the facts of the case, an officer from the Islamic development department read a Facebook comment from an account regarding the Prophet Muhammad on April 15. The officer then lodged a complaint with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), which raided Ramesh's workplace in Perak, taking his mobile phone and SIM card. During mitigation, Ramesh's lawyer P Chandra Segaran urged the court to impose the minimum fine, saying his client regretted his action and wanted to apologise to the court and those offended by his comment. However, MCMC prosecuting officer Farhan Kamarudin asked the court to impose a deterrent sentence on Ramesh, whom he said had made 'baseless allegations' about the Prophet Muhammad. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
