West Lothian homes broken into as thieves steal cars including BMW and VW Golf
Detectives from Police Scotland are appealing for information following two housebreakings in West Lothian.
The first incident happened between 2am and 3am on Monday, June 23, 2025, in the Fitzallan Place area of Bathgate. Entry was gained at a property and a red Volkswagen Golf was stolen.
The second incident happened around 3.05am on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in the Lady Place area of Livingston. Entry was gained at a property and a grey BMW M Sport 5 and a grey Vauxhall Astra were stolen.
Detective Sergeant John Irvine said: "We are carrying out extensive enquiries in relation to these housebreakings and thefts and I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area and noticed anything suspicious to please contact us.
"In addition, anyone with private CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage is urged to contact officers as this may be able to assist our investigation."

'Loving step-dad and grandad' killed in crash between ambulance and car
Tributes have been paid to a 'loving step-dad and husband' who died in a crash on the A98 near Buckie. Alistair J Stewart, from Ardersier, died following a crash at Arradoul at around 6.50am on Monday. The incident involved a blue Renault Megane and an ambulance. Emergency services attended, and the 36-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr Stewart's family has paid tribute in a statement released via Police Scotland saying: 'He was a welder at Forsyths Buckie, he was born in Inverness in November 1988 and then brought up in Ardersier and attended Culloden Academy. He attended Global Highland Skills Academy to be trained as a welder. 'He married Mikaela in July 2022 following an 11-year relationship and became a stepdad to Grace and Leon and Grandad to baby Finn. 'He was a loving husband. Alistair was a beloved son to Grace and Neil Stewart, of Ardersier. He is a much loved brother to Mhairi and Alan, and caring uncle to Rhys, Eryn, Owen and Jack, he'll be sorely missed by us all'. Two male paramedics and the male patient from the ambulance were taken to Dr Gray's Hospital and Aberdeen Royal Infirmary Hospital for treatment. Officers said none of their injuries are thought to be serious. Enquiries into the crash are ongoing, with police urging anyone with information to come forward. Three seriously injured in A952 crash near Cortes in Aberdeenshire
Three people were taken to hospital after a serious crash on the A952 near Cortes in Aberdeenshire. The accident took place at about 2.20pm on Monday August 11 and involved a black Mercedes C200 and a black Honda Civic. Emergency services attended and the 34-year-old male driver of the Civic and his 53-year-old female passenger were taken to hospital. The woman's injuries are described as serious, while the driver was later discharged. Police said the 70-year-old female driver and 92-year-old male passenger of the Mercedes were also taken to hospital, where they remain with serious injuries. The A952 was closed for around 10 hours to allow collision investigation work to be carried out at the scene, a few miles south of Fraserburgh. It reopened shortly after midnight. A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. Sergeant Pete Henderson said: 'Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash. 'We would urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any information, to come forward. 'And we would also ask anyone with dash-cam footage who was driving in the area around the time of the crash to review it and contact us if it could assist with our investigation.' Motorists travelling in the area at the time experienced delays due to diversions onto surrounding rural roads while the closure was in place. Recovery teams later removed the vehicles involved and cleared debris from the carriageway before the road reopened. Three teenagers remain in custody over murder at seaside resort
The man, whose identity remains unknown, is thought to have died after being hit over the head with a large stone during an altercation on the Isle of Sheppey, by the north Kent coast. He was pronounced dead after the attack at around 7pm on Sunday in the Warden Bay Road area of the Leysdown-on-Sea resort after an air ambulance was called to the scene. A 16-year-old girl and two boys, aged 14 and 15 were arrested on Sunday in Leysdown-on-Sea and questioned by police. Local residents in the area believe that during the altercation, the man was pushed to the ground, and a stone or slab of concrete was dropped on his head. Yesterday, specialist officers brought out a sniffer dog at the crime scene and investigated in Leysdown-on-Sea town centre near the arcade. The fire service arrived on Tuesday afternoon to remove their equipment while the police took down their cordon. Locals have called the incident 'shocking' and many have said that 'nothing ever happens' in the area. A shopkeeper, working at Oasis Stores across the road from the incident said he had run out to help after his wife said someone was having a heart attack. He told the PA news agency that he had heard 'when he was on the floor they had thrown the big rock at him', adding: 'It's not fair on the man, he was just here for holidays.' However, there is dispute among residents as to whether the man was instead a local. On Monday, a group of holidaymakers were heralding a local called Dean as 'the island hero' for trying to save the man's life. Andrew Owen claims someone ran past Dean shouting 'I've done him', before Dean saw the man lying on the ground and shouted back 'you haven't just done him, you've f****** killed him'. Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses and anyone with information should contact the major crime unit via the major incident public portal or by phone on 01622 652006, quoting 10-1384.
