100+ schools, 3 cities, 1 chilling message: Bomb threats to schools in Bengaluru, Delhi & Mumbai
More than 45 schools across the national capital received bomb threats on Friday, triggering panic among students and parents. Delhi Police, along with other emergency response teams, launched search and evacuation operations immediately.
This marks the fourth time this week that schools in the national capital have received such threats. Police teams, bomb disposal squads, sniffer dogs, and fire department personnel were deployed to various schools, and evacuations were carried out swiftly.
On Friday morning, more than 40 private schools in Bengaluru—many located in areas like Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Kengeri—received threatening emails claiming that explosives had been planted in classrooms.
Police and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS) were rushed to the campuses for inspections. No explosive devices were found during the searches.
In Mumbai, Swami Vivekanand International School in Kandivali received a bomb threat email on Friday. Kandivali Police, along with BDDS teams, conducted an extensive search of the school premises but found nothing suspicious.
Two other schools in Mumbai also received similar threats. After preliminary investigations, police have declared all three threats hoaxes, though a deeper probe is underway, investigating the nature of the emails.
What did the threat say?
The threatening email was laced with violent and deeply disturbing language, claimed responsibility for placing explosives inside the school premises. A portion of the message read, 'Hello. I am writing to let you know that I have placed several explosive devices (Trinitrotoluene) within school classrooms.' It further said, 'The explosives are skillfully hidden, in black plastic bags.' The email, sent from a Gmail ID under the pseudonym 'Roadkill', contained hateful rhetoric and references to mental health struggles, culminating in a violent outburst against society and psychiatric professionals. In one part of the email, the sender wrote, 'You all deserve to suffer. I truly hate my life. I will commit suicide after the news kick in.' This has led investigators to probe the mental health history and possible digital footprint of the sender.

Delhi Police arrests man for duping job seekers through fake recruitment firm
New Delhi: Delhi Police's Crime Branch has arrested a man linked to at least 85 cybercrime complaints across the country for allegedly posing as the operator of a fake manpower recruitment firm to dupe job-seekers. The arrest followed a complaint lodged in May, in which the victim lost over Rs 3.9 lakh through unauthorised UPI transactions after losing a mobile phone linked to his bank account. A case was registered. "The money trail led police to multiple accounts, including a key beneficiary in Telangana who received Rs 1 lakh. The amount was transferred to another account registered under the name of a manpower company operating from Spaze IT Park, Gurgaon," said DCP (crime) Aditya Gautam. During a raid, the accused—Muneer Khan alias Sahil Sharma (33) of Palwal, Haryana—was arrested, said police. Khan, previously jailed in a rape case, set up the company with associates to launder cybercrime proceeds. Police recovered 200 cheques, four debit cards, and multiple fraudulent accounts. Efforts are underway to arrest his accomplices. Police rope in 4,000 ‘Praharis' to boost vigilance in capital
New Delhi: Delhi Police on Sunday conducted a citywide initiative to strengthen security ahead of Independence Day. This involved briefing and interaction sessions with over 4,000 private security guards, known as 'Praharis', across all districts. They were equipped with training, guidelines, and gear to act as "force multipliers" in public safety. The initiative, part of the ongoing Prahari programme, aims to integrate private security personnel closely into the capital's security grid. The guards were briefed on identifying and responding to potential threats, maintaining situational awareness, and promptly reporting suspicious activity. They were also taught to handle crowd management duties during the festive period and to treat any unattended items as potential threats until cleared. To aid their duties, Delhi Police distributed security kits containing caps, reflective jackets, batons, and whistles. Commissioner of police SBK Singh, IPS, addressed major gatherings at Multipurpose Hall, DU's North Campus, attended by around 800 Praharis, and at the Lotus Temple auditorium in south-east Delhi, which saw a turnout of about 300.
