K-P parties unite against mines bill
Terming the bill a direct attack on the 18th Constitutional Amendment, provincial autonomy, natural resources, and the authority of the provincial assembly, party leaders warned of strong opposition if the government attempts to pass the legislation.
The consensus was reached during an All Parties Conference (APC) organized by the Awami National Party (ANP) at Bacha Khan Markaz in Peshawar. The meeting was chaired by ANP's provincial President, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, and attended by leaders and representatives of all major political parties in the province.
Participants resolved that, if necessary, they would not only pursue legal avenues but also launch public protests to resist the bill.
The proposed Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Mines and Minerals Bill 2025 was discussed in detail during the APC . Key participants included Maulana Attaur Rehman (Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam), Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha (Pakistan Peoples Party), Bushra Gohar (National Democratic Movement), Ali Asghar Khan, Arbab Sher Ali, and Shakeel Khan (PTI), Professor Ibrahim (Jamaat-e-Islami), Murtaza Javed Abbasi (PML-N), Tariq Ahmed Khan (Qaumi Watan Party), Muhammad Ali (Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party), Adil Mehmood (Mazdoor Kisan Party), Khurshid Khan (Pakhtunkhwa National Awami Party), and Barrister Inayatullah (Awami Workers Party).
Representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, legal community, mining experts, trade organizations, the Mines and Minerals Association, civil society, and ANP's central and provincial leadership also attended.
At the end of the conference, a unanimous joint declaration was issued with the approval of all participants.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain read out the joint declaration, stating that the APC completely rejects the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Mines and Minerals Bill 2025.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Sunday stated there should be no misconception Dr Aafia Siddiqui, who's imprisoned in US, is Pakistan's daughter and a priority for the government. Addressing the Pakistani community in New York, Dar said that efforts to resolve Aafia's case will continue until a solution is found. He said this in response to the social media reaction on his earlier statement regarding the incarcerated Pakistani neuroscientist. Addressing an event in Washington on Friday, responding to a query about imprisonment of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Dar had made comparison between incarceration of Imran and Aafia. He had said if 'due process of the law has resulted in that action [arrest of Aafia],' then the same applies to Imran. 'There's no exception.' After receiving the backlash, in a statement a day ago, FM Dar had said his comments in the US about the case of Dr Aafia were being 'taken out of context'. 'Our government's stance on the issue of Dr Aafia Siddiqui's release is clear and unequivocal,' he had said in a post on X. The deputy prime minister further stated that the government had also written a letter to former US president Joe Biden on the issue of Aafia, and even sought clemency for her from Biden before he left the office. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also met her sister two days ago to assure full support, he said, adding that Pakistan has made every effort to secure the release of Aafia Siddiqui. Dar said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government has always supported the release of Aafia, providing all diplomatic and judicial support for her release. Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif also spoke to former US president Barack Obama in this regard, he said, adding that the government made immense efforts to secure Aafia's release in 2015, 2016 and 2017 and it continued to do so.

Three 'TTP terrorists' killed in Swat IBO
Listen to article Three wanted terrorists and "key operatives" of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in a joint operation conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and police in Barikot tehsil of Swat district, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, on Friday. In a statement, the CTD (Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa) noted that a targeted raid was launched on "verified intelligence" regarding the presence of the terrorists. "Upon interception, the suspects opened indiscriminate fire on the CTD team. The CTD responded with tactical precision, neutralising all three militants on the spot," the statement read. The Swat CTD referred to the eliminated terrorists as Fitna-al Khawarij, a term used by the state for members of the outlawed TTP, and added that the operation was supported by local police. The statement noted that the terrorists had been involved in IED blasts targeting law enforcement convoys, armed attacks on police posts and infrastructure, and martyrdom of at least three police officials. Among the slain militants was Ajmal alias Waqas, son of Abdul Ghaffar and a resident of Mulkabad, Mingora, the statement noted. He was reportedly wanted in nine terrorism-related cases and had been involved in the targeted killing of Village Defence Committee (VDC) members, an attempted assassination of an advocate and extortion from civilians. A bounty of Rs2 million had been placed on him for his capture or elimination. Another terrorist was identified as Matiullah alias Ishaq/Junaid, son of Ibrat Shah and a resident of Dubsar, Martung in Shangla district. He was wanted in two terrorism cases and had been linked to targeted killings of individuals assisting the law enforcement agencies. The third slain terrorist was identified as Rahimullah Rahmani alias Roohullah, son of Amanullah and a resident of Shirey, Nuristan, Afghanistan. He was wanted in two terrorism-related cases and had been involved in targeted killings and facilitating terrorist activities. "Intelligence reports further confirm that the cell was operating under the direction of foreign-based, foreign-funded handlers, with active plans to escalate attacks on security forces, public infrastructure, and pro-state individuals," the CTD statement read. It added that the operation stood as a testament to the dedication, precision, and inter-agency coordination of Swat CTD and district police who remained committed to safeguarding regional peace and eliminating the threat of militancy. North Waziristan Two terrorists were reportedly killed and several others sustained injuries during a joint operation conducted by police and security forces in the Shiwa tehsil of North Waziristan. The operation took place within the jurisdiction of Chowk Police Post. Hangu Meanwhile, a key terror suspect involved in the attack on Hangu District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Khalid Khan was killed in a follow-up operation. The operation was carried out by Hangu police late Friday night. According to official sources, the intelligence-based operation was launched in the Naryab area within the jurisdiction of Doaba Police Station. Tank An injured terrorist belonging to a banned outfit surrendered to the security forces in Tank district. The suspect had reportedly been involved in anti-state activities.

Centre, Balochistan vow to eliminate terror
The federal government has decided to continue assisting the Balochistan government in operations against terrorists until their complete elimination. According to Express News, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti in Quetta on Saturday. They discussed law and order in the restive province and the measures being taken to eliminate terrorists associated with Fitna-e-Hindustan, a term used to refer to separatist organizations which get support from arch rival India. Both leaders paid tribute to the martyrs and offered prayers for them. Later, a special meeting on law and order was jointly chaired by Naqvi and Bugti. In this meeting, in-depth discussions were held on security operations carried out in various areas. CM Bugti briefed the attendees on the overall security situation and measures being taken to ensure peace. The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the provincial action plan and examined the challenges being faced. Interior Minister Naqvi asserted that the terrorists will meet a horrific and exemplary fate. "We will bring Indian-sponsored terrorists and their facilitators to justice. Those who challenge the writ of the state will be dealt with with an iron hand. The federal government will continue to fully support Balochistan in the war against terrorism," he said. Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti noted that the ongoing war was not just the war of security forces but the war of the entire nation. He stated that all state institutions are working in complete harmony to restore peace in Balochistan. "The sacrifices of our security forces and citizens will not go in vain. Operations against elements involved in terrorism have been intensified and peace will be established at all costs," he said. Balochistan inspector general of police (IGP), Inspector general of the Frontier Corps North, deputy inspector general (DIG) of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), DIG Special Branch, director general of Levies, and other senior officials from the Home Department attended the meeting.
