Combat couture: Gen Z blasted as ‘messed up' for flaunting viral ‘World War III' camo outfits

New York Post5 hours ago

War — what is it good for? Fashionably stuntin', according to tone deaf Gen Zers.
Committed to looking bomb amid the mounting friction between the US and Iran, carefree clotheshorses are curating cutesy 'World War III' ensembles ahead of the potential bloodshed.
'What I'm wearing to WW3,' Paulina, a NYC influencer, wrote in the closed-captions of a vid, donning an oversized military camouflage shirt.
Following a few quick 'fit changes, the platinum blond went on to pose in a camo-inspired bikini, meant to 'distract the enemy,' before flaunting mini shorts paired with a chunky belt, a brown one-shoulder shirt and an army fatigue jacket.
As a posh pièce de résistance, she closed the virtual fashion show in camo-colored pants with a matching baseball cap, a chocolate crop top and flip flops.
And Paulina's no lone soldier in the doomsday dressing charge.
It's a contemporary, albeit controversial, Gen Z fad that's being hailed both 'iconic' and idiotic.
In the days since Israel's preemptive strike against Iran on June 13, prompting President Trump to target three of the nation's nuclear facilities Saturday, twentysomethings have turned the turmoil into TikTok tomfoolery.
3 Mortified social media users have blasted the World War III fashion trends, calling its Gen Z promoters 'sick' and 'messed up.'

Armed with pop star Kesha's hit track 'Blow' as the soundtrack to their social media silliness, and '#WW3' as their unifying tag, goofball youngsters are making light of the mayhem with military draft jokes and overseas shopping quips.
'Is this gonna affect my SHEIN order?' a single-minded Zoomer commented, referring to potential pandemonium.
3 Avery plans to wow in skimpy camo fits should World War III erupt.

'I wanted a summer glow up, not a summer blow up,' another teased.
The seriousness of the global situation aside, the newcomers to adulthood — especially those with penchants for pizzazz — are combatting the chaos in combat couture.
'First war kinda nervous,' Avery, a digital tastemaker, captioned a clip featuring her WW3 wardrobe, which includes a camouflage mini skirt and an army green bomber jacket.
3 Apson showed off his military-inspired style in a slew of eye-catching looks.
@apsonarmy/TikTok
Apson, a Tiktok-verified virtuoso, scored over 3.9 million views on his wartime wardrobe, sporting a head-to-toe green two-piece, as well as a distressed top and jeans getup.
Christina, a stay-at-home mom of two, turned cyber heads with her World War III gear.
However, unfortunately for the fashion plate, her call-of-duty-inspired cosplay also turned a few stomachs.
'Do you realize how sick and messed up in the head you have to be to come up with stuff like this?' questioned a commenter beneath Christina's post.
'Lives are at stake,' the peeved protester added. 'The future of our world is unfolding in front of us and YOU POST THIS?.'
'WTF is WRONG WITH YOU???.'

I ignored this wedding day ‘red flag' my grandma taught me to avoid — now I'm divorced

Marriage is no piece of cake — and this not-so-sweet groom pulled a big day stunt, forewarning the bride that their union was doomed. Freshly single, a recent divorcée claims her 'narcissistic' ex-husband unveiled his 'first of many red flags' just moments after they said 'I do' by frosting her face with wedding cake, per the démodé tradition. 'My Grammy always said, if they smash the cake in your face on your wedding day, they don't respect you. And it won't last,' Stephanie, a content creator, captioned chaotic scenes from her messy matrimony. 'She was so right,' she continued, lauding her grandmother's words of wisdom. 'It was the first of many red flags l ignored.' Footage of the ill-fated fête, which has amassed over 642,000 TikTok views, shows the blushing bride turning red with shame seconds after her unnamed hubby hit her in the kisser with the confection. An admittedly 'speechless' Stephanie struggles to utter, 'I can't believe you did that,' while trying to wipe off the cream as her goofball groom chuckles, saying, 'I think it's good luck.' But no, sir. It is not. In fact, insiders for The Knot, a virtual wedding hub, says the centuries-old, controversial custom originated in ancient Rome with 'a bit of a dark [sexist]' history. 'The bride would have barely cake crumbled over their head,' according to the experts. 'This act was supposed to signify the promise of fertility and male dominance in the marriage.' And although the weird ritual has somehow managed to stand the test of time, it seems nuptials plagued by the cake-smash prank are typically short lived. A beleaguered bride angrily stormed out of her reception, when the man who'd just vowed his endless fidelity messed up her mug with a hunk of the sugary stuff — even after she begged him not to do it. 'This was supposed to be the happiest day of our lives and he embarrassed me in front of everyone for some prank that he knew I hated,' the scorned woman whined on Reddit. 'Not only that, he ruined a 500-dollar cake. He ruined my makeup, my hair and the top of my dress. The cake got all over.' A separate groom was labeled a 'jerk' by outraged online onlookers after a clip of his cake-smashing exploits went viral on X in April. 'Automatic annulment,' tweeted virtual savages, urging the bride to dump the dope. It's a power move that Stephanie, evidently, wishes she'd made following her ex's icky infraction. 'Finally, he told me to leave — that way he wouldn't look like the bad guy,' she said in the caption of the vid, revealing that her former fella ultimately pulled the plug on their marriage. 'I gladly left,' Stephanie assured. 'Then he got married 3 months after we got divorced.' 'Thank God I don't feel anything anymore — Maybe sorry for his new wife.'

Country music singer tells fans to ‘shut up' during tribute for his late sister

Randall King wasn't about to let a fan ruin the moment. The country music singer was paying tribute to his late sister during a June 19 show in Chattanooga, Tennessee, when he was interrupted by several fans who wanted him to sing a Merle Haggard song. King got so agitated that he told the audience members to 'shut up.' 'I ain't playing a … Haggard song. Give me a second. I'm talking about my sister, man. Give me a second. Be respectful please,' he pleaded to the crowd. Footage of the interaction was shared June 21 by Primetime Country Music on TikTok. The video shows King talking about his late sister Leanna, who passed away in April 2020, during a break between songs. 'My sister meant the world to me. She was my best friend,' he says of Leanna. 'I miss her everyday, man, but I can tell you the last five years, I've seen her many a time … She's always around.' King, who is known to tell Leanna's story during performances, announced his sister's death in an emotional Facebook post the day after she died. 'Understand that it's gonna be a while before I can pick up a guitar again. For that I am sorry to my fans. I'm just gonna need time,' he wrote in the April 2020 post. King went on to describe Leanna as his 'big sis, my partner in crime, my teammate when we went to pickin on dad and mom.' 'She was there for me in my hardest times and some of my darkest times. She was the brightest light I've ever seen,' he added. 'I can still hear her laugh, it's a laugh that NO ONE, has ever come close to.' In December 2020, King released a four-song EP titled 'Leanna' in honor of his older sister. More recently, on April 3 (nearly five years after his sister's death), King and his fiancée, Brittany Warthan, who announced their engagement in October, welcomed their first baby. 'Welcome to the world, miss Paisley Leanna. What a joy it is to be a father!' the singer wrote in an Instagram post April 19. The baby girl's middle name was inspired by King's late sister. 'It's only fitting to give her my sister's name on the 5th year of Leanna's passing. She has the same big bright spirit, I can already tell,' King wrote in the caption. While talking to Us Weekly about the new baby, Warthan teased what's next for the couple. 'We already started the planning process for our wedding next year,' she told the outlet, adding that they're also looking forward to watching their little one grow up in the music industry. 'We still have all the plans to travel and show her our favorite destinations and to add to the craziness our lives hold,' Warthan continued.

Purdue University and Hello Sunshine partner on new platform to inspire the next generation of bold, curious young women

Sunnie will work to foster community among Gen Z girls, empowering them to envision bright futures – including careers in STEM WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind., June 25, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Purdue University is the official university partner of Sunnie, a multi-platform media brand geared toward Gen Z girls and young women. The multifaceted platform was created by Hello Sunshine, a next-generation media company founded by award-winning actress, author and entrepreneur Reese Witherspoon. The new platform – built by and made for Gen Z girls and women – strives to amplify female voices and empowers them to live up to their potential through storytelling across platforms, including experiential, digital content and editorial. Sunnie aims to build community among Gen Z girls and young women, emboldening them to imagine possible careers, including STEM fields. Powered by Purdue's commitment to accessibility and academic rigor in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, the university will help design curricula that not only respond to the demands of the evolving tech workforce but also engage and inspire Gen Z girls by aligning with their academic interests, personal values, and creative passions. 'Purdue and Hello Sunshine share a powerful belief that when girls can see paths forward that reflect their interests, their dreams and their potential, there's no limit to what they can imagine or achieve,' said Kelly Hiller, chief marketing officer for Purdue University. 'At a time when social media can so profoundly shape how girls see themselves and their futures, we are excited to help support a space that replaces pressure with positivity, where storytelling meets passions, like STEM, and girls are inspired to see themselves as confident, curious and capable of shaping the future.' The national brand launch of Sunnie and the Purdue partnership were announced Wednesday (June 18) at The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in Cannes, France. The festival, often described as the 'Oscars of the advertising world,' is one of the most prestigious global events in the fields of advertising, marketing, communications and creative media. 'Gen Z isn't waiting for permission — they're boldly shaping culture, community, and conversation in ways that are deeply intentional and inspiring,' said Maureen Polo, Head of Direct to Consumer at Hello Sunshine. 'That's why we're so excited to partner with Purdue University as the official University partner of Sunnie. Their team has been instrumental in helping launch this exciting venture for Hello Sunshine. Purdue's commitment to research, innovation, and student empowerment aligns perfectly with our mission to create spaces where young women feel truly seen, heard, and supported." As part of the new collaboration, Sunnie and Purdue will co-develop custom content, engaging curriculum and online resources that will serve as a 'playbook' centered around relevant subject matters, such as the building blocks for a STEM career. In addition, Purdue will also be a part of IRL (in real life) events planned to add a deeper layer of connection and community to the initiative. The platform will also offer continuing education opportunities for caregivers of Gen Z'ers, including certification programs, through Purdue University's online programs. This partnership reinforces Purdue's national leadership in STEM by showing up in modern, culturally relevant areas and aligning directly with the university's institutional priorities to expand access, drive enrollment and cultivate the next generation of trailblazers. 'The path to innovation begins long before college,' said Lucy Flesch, Frederick L. Hovde Dean of the College of Science. 'As a scientist and an educator, I've seen how early exposure to STEM can spark ambition and agency — especially for girls who may may not yet see themselves in these fields. It's important to show them how it can connect to their passions — we unlock potential that might've otherwise gone unseen.' Amplified by Purdue's colleges of Engineering and Science, Purdue Polytechnic Institute, and the Mitch Daniels School of Business, Purdue has the largest undergraduate STEM enrollment of any top 50-ranked university in the country. 'This directly supports a five-year goal of making Purdue the most desired STEM destination for young women,' said Arvind Raman, the John A. Edwardson Dean of the College of Engineering.'Gen Z girls are growing up in a world shaped by technology, and we want them not just to keep up—but to lead.'
